Windy and cool. We had summer, for a week, and now it's back to April. Must be a La Niņa year.

Nice ride this morning (with the exception of my constantly creeking rr. wheel), good energy and cool. I've had problems with my rr. Mavic Open Pro since it was built about a year ago. It has been serviced, rebuilt and, replaced but continues to creek. Evedently it's the spoke nipples-they work themselves loose and the threads creek. It's almost unbearable but, it beats driving or taking Metro. I've got a pair of Deep V's in yellow on order, hopefully the new wheels will be built this or next weekend. Also, treated myself to a new bag for my Birthday. I got the Timbuk2 messenger bag in medium. It's sweet: plenty of room, great internal organization, waterproof, comfortable. It looks like a typical messenger bag but has two straps in a backpack configuration, so it doesn't need constant adjusting. It looks sharp and cycling specific, as opposed to the old Jansport backpack I've used for the last 6+ years. I will miss the old one but I'll still hang on to it for hiking and weekend trips. Looks like nice weather for the rest of the week and, if it holds, I should be able to get the 29er dirty again this weekend. Sweet.

Today's ride in was fine- I left my raingear and popped off my RaceBlade fender- "I won't need these today!" I thought... Tonight around 9 it began to rain cats and dogs. My father called and offered to give me a ride home in his pickup. I accepted. Damn rain...

Took 3 breaks under trees waiting for showers to pass. ~85 min vs more typical 70 min to get home. Showers are pretty atypical, vs steady 'round the clock drizzle.

Another Good ride in, 60 F (16 C). I may have to change my route, because I got here this morning without realizing it until I got here. Not a good thing for biking. Saw a couple runners, walkers, but no bikes. The weather is too nice for sitting in a car.

Almost ran over a coon and seen some kinda hawk looking bird right in inner city Indianapolis. Gonna look it up today and see if I can figure out what it was. Maybe an owl. I wish the rides home were as nice as teh rides to work, absolutely beautiful morning.

Nice AM ride here too, ~ 65F, not as humid as it could be. Rising sun on the right and setting moon on the left made for a nice view. I noticed today that the sun is already rising several minutes later than it did during the solstice. No Flats today!! Had 4 ****'ing flats last week before I finally found the impossibly tiny little piece of wire embedded in my rear tire.

This morning was nice. Didn't see any other cyclists though. Upper 50sF. Dry.

Yesterday I needed pontoons! We had a huge storm. City streets were awash with water. I waited it out indoors, but when I left there was still a lot of standing water in places. A car pulled over in front of me as I was riding through some of it. The driver jumped out really fast with a camera in his hand and took... This...

Then he intruduced himself and got my name. I'm in the local newspaper. Yay me.

vtjim, feel you pain, or at least the water....

I'm just a little black rain cloud (in fluorescent green)...I am one with the rain, the rain and I are one...hmmmmmmmmmmm

and man cagers were aggressive this morning...I think they are getting testy with this lack of summer.

Muggy and warmer, but pretty good overall.....got buzzed by one RAFT (redneck in a ford truck). Unfortunately I didn't get the tag # or the phone number off the side of the truck. Would have been sweet to be able to call the business owner and lodge a complaint.

Mid 70s, slightly humid, slight headwind, but nice ride altogether. I love coming back from a short break and being able to tell that I am getting stronger.

Beautiful morning... didn't feel energetic so I just enjoyed the ride. The picture above of the dude riding through the flood was cool!

A beautiful morning, 72F and sunny. I wish I didn't have to get off the bike and work.

Noticeably warmer today - 69F. Had to alter my route and go through downtown due to road construction. Damn near nailed a guy who flew through a red light on a cross street as I cruised through on a solid green (it had been green for a while). Friggin idiot didn't even look or slow down.
Slept really well last night, but felt like I could've kept sleeping, so I was a bit sleepy on the ride in - not as energetic as usual. I feel great now, although I'm still dealing with post-shower sweat in my slightly too warm office.

Nice speedy ride. Woke up a little late and left 10 mins later than I usually do. Still made great time and got to work in ~35 mins or so.

Bikes: One brand-less build-up, and a Connondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra Disc. A nicer bike than I need, but it was a good deal, so... ;-)

Very cool for mid-July. I almost wanted a jacket.

I felt like sleeping in and driving this morning, but toughened up and rode to work. I was sleepy because I went kayaking for 2 hours in the full moonlight after riding home from work yesterday. It was worth it even though I didn't get enough sleep. The weather is still beautiful in NC so it would have been a shame to drive.

First flat of the year on the way to work this morning. Thought I had a spare tube but it turned out to have the wrong valve on it. Luckily I was able to patch the tube. I blame the flat on all the stones/debris that was washed onto the roads from yesterdays storms (we had penny sized hail). Other than the flat it was a nice morning for the ride in.

Man, they're not paying us until the budget is passed, so the commute for me was the highlight of my workday, moreso than on other days!

The ride was pretty good this morning. Still getting used to my new (to me) Schwinn World Tourist.

On my intermittent rides through campus to take care of some computer support tickets, the heat is getting more and more uncomfortable as the day goes on. It's supposed to get to 100 today. Lucky for me the ride home is mostly downhill!

Hot and sluggish. I was off of the bike for 6 weeks due to a non-cycling fall, back for a day, and off for another week due to illness. Needless to say, I'm out of shape.

Despite that, it's really wonderful to be back. Driving was making me a grouchy person.

Now to make it through work without taking a nap...

No ride for me today. It was my day to bring bagels and coffee and so I drove.

Bikes: Mountain Bike.

The commute today was good; going down Jefferson to Culver City is always chill.
Except for when cars decide to run you over because it's "funny."
