No bike commute for me so far this week. I'm taking a little break. Should be back on thursday and friday though. Gotta get the new Tricross ready (pedal + lights installation + new lock).

Great ride in this morning. low 50's. I broke out the Lake winter shoe today. I did the 14.18 miles from Yarmouth to Portland at 19.4 mph.

Slightly cool, and I ate a bug, but it was a small one. Nice ride..

I went to bed before 9PM last night and had the most restful sleep I've had in months.
Stunning start to the day. I was able to be in the driveway and mounting up by 6:30 - my preferred departure time. As I rolled out of the carport, the pre-dawn "halo" was backlighting the mountains (which rise sharply from the valley, 1/4 mile from my house), and the crescent moon and venus were just above the halo in the night sky. Nice.
Low 50's F (11-12C). I was still adjusting to the brisk morning air, after having been snuggled in my flannel womb all night as the breeze permeated the house, so I chose long sleeves and a light shell up top.
It is now totally dark at 6:15 AM. That P7 headlamp can't get here quickly enough!!!!!!!!!!

It was mostly uneventful until I tried to run a stop sign and damn near wiped out when I saw a car at the last second and tried to brake in the rain. My ankle is a bit sore because I had to plant real hard on the ground when the back wheel slid out from under me. I thought for sure I was going to eat asphalt for breakfast.

Great ride in again today. I rode the Eros, I really like that bike. Weather was good should be a great ride home too. I plan on stopping at the bike shop to look at stuff I don't need

Apparently this is the 1st day of the school year we all biked, so I caught my wife and daughter in the trailer a bit up the MUP from home after riding w/ our son to his school in the opposite direction. Makes me wonder if I really have any excuse for not pulling the trailer both ways (I work a mile past where my wife does).

Good times
What's up with newly paved roads being torn up again?!
Did they flub up or something?
It's hard to keep track of all the construction around here.

Grey skies , heavely overcast , wet and windy , but not cold.
Kind of sweaty while wearing a jacket , but making great speed.
I broke the left hand shifter of the Jake , no more big chainring , and I dropped the bike off at the bikeshop.I hope the repair wil covered by the warranty , Dual-Action shifters are quite expensive if you want to buy a new pair , and there are not many single left hand shifters lying around in the bikeshop. The guy told me he'll call me next week to tell me the news , I really hope my bike is not held captive for several weeks.
But I'll take my other bike tomorrow morning , no problem .
Looking sharp on (or off ) your bike is easier in shorts than in tights , but what the heck , I always wanted to be a balletdancer !! NOT !

Beautiful morning. I managed to get out of the house early enough to do a long loop out into the country for 25 miles before work. Very nice.

the commute for me was really tough. A cloudy windy day, just couldn't keep the speed up. The west side bike path is the worse, strong gust of wind really do me in. most likey could only do 10 to 11 mph, with bursts when the wind died down. Coming home over the Brooklyn Bridge, was so bad, this time I really though about getting off the bike and walking, but I was such in a rush to to get to my post office on Atlantic ave by 5pm, and i barely made it, I was the last person and he locked the door after me.

An easy ride in at 58 F ( 14 C). It was supposed to rain, and I packed for it, but no rain. I didn't realize how cloudy it was until I rode under a low flying plane on a common flight path. Also, some lights that are usually out were on. I can never see the difference between cloudy dark and dark, but the street lights see something.

Good ride in to work today. I rode the Castro in because I have a person coming to look at it. Hopefully they like it and I can then buy a bike that fits me. Regardless I have a bike shop that going to trade me bike for bike (58cm Castro for 49cm Castro) I LOVE THIS BIKE!

After night rains the roads were wet, just like Monday. About the same temperature too (~65F) and Monday I was a little warm, so I pulled the sleeves of the hi-viz jacket and ran in vest mode. Turns out it wasn't just like Monday; the rain started up again (albeit light drizzle) and there was a pretty stiff breeze out of the north (14 gusting to 21 according to Intellicast), so it was a little chillier than Monday. Still not too bad once I got warmed up.
Chance of t-storms this afternoon. Should be.... interesting.

Commute #21
Great ride! Only left a little late. Little traffic. The sun was not yet visible over the corn when I left, but 30 minutes later it was dominating my rear-view mirror making the mirror useless (I have a west/east commute, the sun is always behind me). It was a little cold (52) so I wore my fall gear - yellow jersey + red cotton long-sleeve shirt + hi-viz vest. On the way home the cotton shirt & vest go in the "trunk".

Yeah, I got caught out in the rain for the last 10 minutes of the ride last night. Not cold, but absolutely soaking.
This morning the ride before the train was only wet streets and puddles on the Trinity Trail. From the train to the office near DFW Int'l, it was the soaking shower all over again, but cooler. First times I've ridden in real rain since the ride to Corpus in March.
Superflash was a casualty, despite being wrapped around the seam with electrical tape. Go figure.
I need to put the fenders back on, too.

Man, I don't know how you guys ride in such cold weather. But then again, I guess you might wonder how I survive in my element. When I left the house at 6:30 AM this morning it was 80F, with 80% humidity. I'm still riding in my bike sandals.
I dismounted after my 18.5 mile commute completely drenched and dripping as usual. It takes three 24 oz refills on my bike bottle just to get back to a only-slightly-dehydrated state.

Another fine day! But, I'm now riding at dawn, not too many days before I have to start using the lights. I had planned on driving today but the weather was just too tempting.
I think we've had almost a month of sunny, 60-70f temps, no wind weather. This has got to be some kind of record. As a mid western catholic I'm beginning to feel guilty, weather gods bound to come down hard.
