In my last stretch on the way in/first stretch on the way home, there are 9 lights (maybe a mile?) They're timed such that if I hustle, I'll catch only 1 or 2 reds on the way in (depends if the first light is red or green), 3 on the way home. Slowpokes will get caught at more reds.

Do you have to stop for a stoplight in order for it to count?
I've got like maybe 20-25 lights and I don't know how many stop signs on my commute depending which way I go. My bike maybe comes to a full stop 3-5 times.

In my 5.5 mile usual route to work in Chicago, I have something like 30 stop signs and 25 lights. So, 4-5 lights and 5-6 stop signs per mile. If I go another mile to a different office, you can probably tack on another 6 or 7 lights. I slow down for everything (unless there's a clear line of sight and clear traffic, which is usually a few of the lights and probably half of the stop signs at least), come to a stop when I have to, stay stopped if I feel like it.
Probably once every 3 weeks the gods of timing are smiling on me and I can make it home without coming to a complete stop. I am not someone who enjoys challenging cars to dodge me while I run red lights, but I am also reasonably impatient and usually in a hurry to either eat something, drink something, or pick up another package of bike crap before the post office or UPS store closes. On the way to work I'm in much less of a rush, and will totally come to a stop at a red light with little cross traffic. The office isn't going anywhere, ya know.

My usual route has no traffic lights that apply to bikes in 15 miles. I don't count the couple lights where the MUP/trail passes a light that applies only to cars. There are several stop signs along the MUP where it crosses roads, but I rarely need to come to a complete stop. I just slow down if a car is approaching, and 9 times out of 10, they stop and let me go ahead. If not, I slow until they pass. I usually ride non-stop the entire way.

I commute in NYC, I never counted the stoplights, but there are many. I have discovered that I can make a nice string of greens if I get up to 16mph real quick after taking off from a red. I stop at reds, but on the less busy streets I normally take off again if there is no traffic.
I only rode 2.5 miles to work (changing now, just moved out to Brooklyn, I think it is now about 8). In that time I have probably over 30 lights (at least one per street, I ride from down where there are no street numbers up to 23rd street).

I use the the lights and stop signs as a way to get myself to push harder to make the greens and to practice sprinting away when the reds turn green. I always feel I get a much better work out riding home my 22 miles than taking a 30-40 miles ride on the weekend.
I have never counted, but there are a lot in the first half of my ride, and very few in the second half since it is on a MUP.

I have maybe 4 stoplights in the first 3,5 kilometers. Then follows my favorite part, about 10 km stretch of very low traffic paved MUP, good part of it by the sea shore. Then, 7 stoplights in the last 2 kms. If I really wanted to, I could take alternative routes to avoid 5 of the total 11 stoplights. Doing so would probably increase my commute distance by 5%.
Overall that averages to 0,3 - 0,7 lights per km, depending on routes I choose. Or, just counting the "stoplighted" sections and omitting the long idle stretch in the middle: 1-2 lights per km.
