Wald front fender, 2 bottle cages, toe clips and a Timbuk2 pannier... wife was good to me
(I gave her an Amazon wishlist as she hates getting gift cards, but doesn't like picking out an item from a group and wants to make sure I get what I need... boo Amazon, it told me when and what she purchased > no surprises here )

Bikes: Trek 830 Mountain Track Drop bar conversion

I got some much-needed cash to be put towards the purchase of a Surly Long Haul Trucker frame. Combined w/ a little I have from my bike commuting budget and a little creative accounting, I think I may be ordering that frame quite soon now!

My wife's gift for me took the form of a Groupon to an LBS that can be put towards a bike or accessories. Unfortunately they do not order Surly, I have since found out, but I need to buy some parts for the LHT build, so I hope to apply the Groupon to that effort.

A couple of weeks before xmas I bought a frameset and built it into fixed gear winter commuter with studded tires. Does that count?

I'm having trouble understanding how the second half of your comment is related to the first half.

I got a powertap pro+ hub laced 3x to a mavic open pro rim Cool and bike related, but not so much commuting.

Yes. I've spent a lot of money in the last month. All of which I attribute to "Christmas".

I assume you are referring to the MTX Trunk DryBag. Pretty neat, but I prefer the looks and design of the EX bag, even if I need a rain cover for wet days. If I lived in a climate that saw a lot of rain, I'd consider Topeak's DryBag products.

One problem I have is that whenever something I've bought is updated and/or upgraded, I develop a bad case of bike/accessory envy.

My gift items are all for my comfort bike turned commuter Schwinn Sierra GS:

Forte Contour Seat
Planet Bike fenders
Cateye headlight/tail light/cyclocomputer set
Nashbar rack

I was able to get the seat early because my stock seat was causing numbness when riding long distances.

I used Christmas money to buy:

Nashbar silver aluminum flat handle bars (to replace my black steel flat bars that were scratched up when I put them on)
Sram X-3 trigger shifters
Shimano 13-28 freewheel (still looking for a coveted, but discontinued 11-28 freewheel)
Sram Powerlink chain (I didn't want to use the old chain with the new freewheel)
A decent lock (any suggestions?)

Brian

I got a Nashbar Single speed 29er that is having an Alfine IGH built into the rear wheel as we speak. I'll use this bike primarily for off-road and as a secondary commuter, but now that I have it I'll probably never have another problem with my Volpe.

I asked for Black Ops but nobody got it for me . My wife refused to buy it for me because she bought me COD: MW2 last year and vowed to never do it again lol.

I also got some Continental Gatorskins and Brooks handlebar tape. Check it out:

The first one was just to see if you were paying attention!
