A balmy 38F / 3C with a wind that was either at my side, or slightly at my back. It was flurrying when I left the house. Gettin' kinda sick of this weather. At least it's dry. The fingers on my gloves were still damp from yesterday morning!

44f Pretty much pouring rain for the first half of my ride but then the rain was nice enough to turn into a light rain when I got to work, hey thanks rain. My rain pants seem to be not so water proof anymore, I think I may get some spray and see If I can't get one more season out of them.

+2C for the ride in today, the first above freezing morning ride since last week. It was cloudy for most of the ride, so I didn't have the sun in my eyes. The lake in the park is starting to overflow onto the road beside it, so I'll have to detour on the way home. I decided to slowly ride through the water on the way in as it didn't look to be any more than a foot deep. I was wearing my well vented mountain shoes so my feet got a nice spray of ice cold lake water.

Great commute in at 43F and partly cloudy with headwinds from the W @ 8mph. The wind is supposed to pick up this afternoon, so hopefully I have a nice tailwind on the way home.

3rd day in a row of identical conditions: -5C, clear, no wind. Will be nice when the mornings are a little warmer.

It was a morning of honkers, I guess. I had a guy honk at me in the first mile or so of my commute. This was along a two lane road w/ sharrows, curb bumpouts, and a number of parked cars. Doosh didn't want to wait the 10 seconds for a chance to pass me, but I wasn't moving from my normal path in the right wheel track. Wasn't sure if the first honk was for me, but the second definitely was. I kept my wits about me and actually managed to do what I've wanted the composure to do in previous such instances - I smiled and waved!

Rest of the ride in was pleasant with the exception of the blustery headwind. But I did my best to ignore it, though.

Warm - 45F - the streets showed remnants of soaking overnight rains (which I expected to be riding in), but the orange glow behind the mountains confirmed that the clouds were starting to break up.
It is supposed to be a quintessential Spring day this afternoon - near 60F and sunshine.

Made great time this morning. Some days you just feel better on the bike and you reap greater efficiency/speed from what seems like less effort than normal. That's what it felt like this morning. Temps were almost perfect, low 50's and the wind seemed somewhat tame. Looking forward to the ride home in warmer temps, but not so much the typical headwind that I'm sure will be coming from the west.

35F, sunny, dry. Full-finger gloves a little warm but having feeling in my fingers when I get to the office is worth it

Bikes: See my sig...

Beautiful morning in Canuckistan and I hear we are heading for the double digits for the weekend... legs were a little weak so I got to use all the gears on the ATB... received an intramuscular injection on Monday to my low back which is intended to cause muscle relaxation so if I had met up with that little granny with the CF walker she may have had a chance to beat me.

Will be looking at a 200km ride this weekend to go and see my favourite granny (my mom).

Okay, so you remember when I said "quintessential Springtime day" was forecast for the ride home earlier?
Yeah.
Well, scratch that.
At the moment (2PM MST) we're in the midst of a severe T-storm. Sustained winds are 30+ mph and recorded gusts to near 70.
Hopefully things will settle down a bit in the next couple of hours.

Great, but very windy commute home this afternoon at 49F and partly cloudy with winds from the W @ 21mph gusting to 40mph. Luckly most of it was either tailwinds or crosswinds. The tailwinds were great, but the crosswinds were definitely jerking me around a little. There seemed to be more than normal traffic on the roads for some reason.

Whew. What a relief. The storm progressed and the headwind became a tailwind. Instead of dreading my 70 inch gear I was spinning it out gleefully.

Today's commute was overcast, breezy, and a chilly 5°C. At least the traffic going home was light but earlier in the day traffic was a bit aggressive for Holy Week. Usually I have no problem cycling with a comfy space between me and the cars driving past but for some reason today the cars wanted to hug the curbs.

Odds are tomorrow's traffic will be quiet because nearly all businesses will be closed for Good Friday.

A little wet this morning, and slightly cool, but a good day nonetheless. What better way to celebrate Earth Day than to use the most environmentally friendly commute method there is?

However, discovered two things.
1. I need (need, need, need) fenders for my bike
2. Shanghai roads are incredibly filthy (let's just say I had a black streak down my back due to the lack of the aforementioned fenders and due to the aforementioned wet conditions).

30F / -1C At least it was sunny and windless. I'm lacking energy today. I was stalking another regular commuter. He's pretty slow, so I kept going off the MUP onto trails, and popping back out and reeling him in again. Silly.

Usually my morning commute is uneventful except for today. Weather was fine, almost 50 degree clear and no wind. The commute was a PITA as I got this Nickel size zit growing on the right side of my butt cheek right where I get lots of saddle pressure. I was running late and cannot find my padding short. Ended up smashing in high gearing to keep off the saddle.....ouch!

This is what I love about commuters. They just make it work no matter what! If the solution is just to crank harder, so be it.

So much more awesome than just taking the car.

I agree 100%. However my butt and my legs are sore!

Ironically, last Wednesday I was waiting for a green light at an intersection near the San Mateo train station. A commuter of 18 years of age was crossing the other way. She did not have a happy face and for sure not a happy camper. I thought her train was late or something as she was smashing her pedal as she left the parking lot of the station. As she cross in front of me, I saw her bike has no saddle as if someone stole it. Poor darling.....I feel her pain.

Ahh stealing someones saddle is a crappy thing to do. That happened to me back in high school - and the kid who did it was laughing at me and the fact I would have to ride home without a seat. The kid was part of a group that the school was reluctant to punish (another story for another day) and he was never reprimanded for taking the seat.

What annoyed me more was that after I forked out money for a new stem and saddle, he returned to my bike whilst I was in class and put the stolen post/saddle back in the downtube.

I wish I had the guts to punch someone back in those days. On second thoughts, I am glad I am out of school, out of that age bracket, and am no longer surrounded by these types of people.
