I thought I had class tonight, but it got canceled. I thought about taking the long way home, since nobody at home knew that I was going to be home early. But about halfway home, I realized how much I wanted to play with my daughter...so I dropped the hammer (again) and sprinted home! Whee! It was fun. Now my legs hurt and I stink.

Kinda cold today, and my lungs suffered, but other than that, easy ride, not much wind. Gashed my leg somehow on the ride though. I have no idea how I did it and I didn't realize that it happened until I got home and propped my leg up on the coffee table. Wierd, no pain whatsoever.

Beautiful ride into work today! Mid-60's and light wind. I thought back to the Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom television show from the 1960's as I had an encounter with a herd (?) of 5 deer and a skunk that waddled across the road. The deer are just brazen. Can't wait for tomorrow's morning ride.

Uneventful rides home yesterday, and in again this AM. Humidity is rising, but still not too bad. Wondering if I should ride in tomorrow and risk getting dumped on from TS Hanna - hopefully the weatherman will give a detailed forecast tonight on when the rains and winds will begin.

Last night a storm was brewing right behind me on the way home. Managed to walk inside before the rain started.

This morning was a great commute. It was cloudy, but cool. The traffic was light.

Very nice ride in this morning. About 6miles into my ride someone was cooking Bacon and Eggs. Smelled so good. I might run up to the cafeteria.

What's the deal with all-red text around some avatars now?

Nice commute today. Headwind but I shoved through it. Mid 60sF.

And I broke a spoke yesterday. 6 week old rear wheel. I was doing a climb on grass. Sort of steep but I was in the granny gear and turning effortlessly. Not out of the saddle or anything powerful. I heard it pop. It broke right at the hub. The wheel only had a slight wobble so it was rideable. I'll take it to the LBS this morning. Hopefully this won't be a chronic problem.

Mid 60s and wonderful! At least 10 degrees cooler than it's been lately. Can't believe I was actually cold at first. I'm so glad summer is ending...slowly...but better than nothing.

I came within a split second of getting doored in the face by a dumptruck on the way in this morning. The door flew open right in front of me and I had to duck and swerve not to catch it with my forehead. I don't usually yell anything when riding but I let out a "DUDE!!! ****!!!!", he seemed contrite and yelled back "****!!! Sorry"

And we went on our seperate ways. Sucked but I'm still here

I wimped out today and drove. I will hate myself all day for not riding when I had already planned to.

The drive was uneventful, but I was extremely sleepy. I never have that problem on the bike.

I had a long day yesterday and a poor nights sleep. This mornings ride was sllllllooooooooowwwwwww.
ugh
As a plus I hit a new low in my weight loss. Of course any new weight loss is a new low since I dropped below my lowest weight since my early 20s a few weeks ago. 6 lbs to go and the goal I set 4 years ago will have been reached.

So did I, but the weatherman said there was a chance of storms in the afternoon. I don't ride in the rain. Besides, my legs are a little sore from 40 miles of high-intensity riding yesterday.

I took a leisure ride with a friend after work yesterday. And the last 8 miles were a mad sprint home to catch Sarah Connor Chronicles at 9pm. Which, by the way, is actually on next monday at 8.

No troublems this morning (as usual). My ride is pretty easy: starts on city streets, then to neighborhood streets, then about a mile or two on a major commuting road out of the city. Only one or two sections where I fear for my life.

I hit the gym last night for the first time in months. My arms and chest are weak and feeble. It didn't help that all I had was birthday cake for dinner, and then more cake for dessert. The ride in was chilly today, but traffic was manageable and I have no regrets.

Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.

I had a meeting in Brooklyn after work, so I take myself and my folder on the train. I had a nice ride around midtown, picking up a new blinky at the Chelsea bike shop. I take the subway to Brooklyn, and I'm riding around to kill some time and get a flat.

After changing the tube, it's making a hissing noise. I had checked the inside of the tire for pointy stuff, but missed a piece of glass stuck outside. Arrgh. I was done with any riding for the day, but I felt like an idiot.

Didn't eat enough yesterday, made it home fine but then felt very dizzy and almost sick. 2 eggs, cheese grits, salmon fillet and broccoli soup, and I was feeling great!

Had to spend yesterday out at a local chemical plant, but didn't have to be there till noon. I was pretty nervous about the highway ride involved, but it was actually much better than I'd feared. The tailwind helped. Of course, the headwind on the way home wasn't much fun, and the road debris (proximity to the city dump and a lot of factories and such) was pretty harsh. Riding the decking of the drawbridge was the most nerve-wracking part of it, even though I was unclipped for that part.

Today was the normal 5.5 mile office run and it was nice. A bit of wind, but not bad. Fortunately I'm getting on a plane tomorrow morning instead of riding to work as a hurricane approaches.

Nearly got taken out by a red light runner driving a --- wait for it --- BMW. I was not totally blameless, as I jumped the green slightly. Take it from me, kids. It's not worth the gamble.

Last night an old black pick up with leaking exhaust pulled up even with me and gunned it.
It seemed he was trying to damage my ear drum for some reason.

I acted like I didn't notice. It felt good to imagine him checking his rear view hoping for a reaction and getting disappointed when he got none.
