Another warm morning. Mid 40's. I had quite a nice ride in this morning, for there was not much traffic and my legs were well rested...In fact, my entire person is well rested. I went to take a nap at 4:30 PM yesterday and was straight out through until quarter to 6 this morning. I read an article in the Wall Street Journal last week about how our nation is collectively sleep deprived. Not me, not today at least.

Light rain, sometimes snow, slight headwind and plus 2. I don't have rain gear but I have gear that keeps my dry enough so I am not cold when I get to work. I was just the slightest bit damp. All in all it was a good ride.

had a pretty nice ride in the cold grey morning, except for a minor altercation with a motorist. i really hate being told to "relax" by anyone, especially a guy in a $1500 overcoat. but i could only shake my head in disbelief. i managed to say one thing: "you don't take three lanes when you turn - that ain't right" and if the coarsest language he gets from a cyclist today is "ain't" then he should count his blessings, doesn't everyone agree?

Nice ride in today. The weather was coolish but not cold (47-52F), and there was a light misting the entire ride in. The 10 mile commute left me fairly damp but not wet which was exciting news as I'm too poor to buy new shoes and my old Nike MTB shoes suck in the wet -- might as well wear sandals. This is my third week commuting in and I'm LOVING it.

Wet pavement, cool, low 50's, uneventful just like I like it. Nice and comfy in cotton long sleeve cotton T, rain jacket, spandex mask, leg warmers, wool socks.

overcast, 50-degrees. Got my neighbor to commute today! Saw a lady with a little folding bike, and she was booking. Started raining, but I didn't even mind. I just kept smiling.

About 27F (-3C) when I left home this morning. The sub-zero temps seemed to slow me down a bit, but I was still glad to be on the bike.

Well, I just came off a week of training outstate and no bike so it really felt good to be back on it this morning. Unseasonally warm, about 35F/2C, dry and mostly cloudy but it felt really good. I took the long way in and did a eight mile loop at lunch time. I'll probably take the long way home... I needed this.

Now that I live closer to work (6.5 miles), I find myself mapping out new, longer routes so I can put in more mileage. This morning I took a long route (12.8 miles), but going back I'll take the shortest 'cause gotta meet someone later.

Bikes: Still have a few left!
It rained overnight & warmed us up from 32F to 36F at 6AM, the streets were wet but there was no wind & I had a quiet ride in on my Moto Grand Jubile. It stayed dry & had warmed up to 47 by lunchtime so I did the afternoon commute on the Torelli. Traffic was pretty heavy but it had warmed up to 51F on the ride home. A mountain bike commuter in our office had a flat from road debris this morning so we called the road departments for Lacey & Olympia: Lacey had a street sweeper truck out on their stretch of Martin Way within an hour of our call so approximately 1/2 my ride home was in a clean bike lane. As soon as I hit the Olympia city line, immediately began dodging debris: A couple pieces of rebar, tire balance lead weights, 4 inch bolts, nuts, patches of broken glass, hubcaps etc. Hope they get to their half soon. Don

Hello everyone, this is my first post here, but I've been biking to work for the past few months. It's only a two mile ride to work, but it's through the Houston,Tx medical center, and we've got a lot of commuters and "guest" drivers through there. It rained today, but I seem to love riding in the rain because it keeps all the pedestrians out of the way. I see a flood coming again, and most of the cars will be stuck in traffic just like they were last year.

Rainy but temperate on the way in the morning. Traffic was a little jammed up but I was much less stressed than the motorists.
Lost my darn keys at work today, could not unlock my bike. Called my girlfriend to come pick me up. Got the day off from work tomorrow, will catch a ride down and take the long way home.

Todays ride was nice. Lots of wind around though. A few people on the paths that continue to ignore cyclists, but I try ot ignore them aswell. Bit of a sore knee after the weekends long rides. Always glad to be on the bike...

Life IS good. The weather's been almost ideal for riding-40's and 50's with little rainfall (although that may change this afternoon and tomorrow) and almost balmy mornings. I've permanently switched over to my CrossCheck as my dedicated commuter, installing fr and rr fenders, lights, and 700 x 35c kevlar lined touring tires. I've also been feeling the positive effects of carbing up slightly towards the end of the week. I've been on a fairly carb-restricted diet and noticed that I was struggling a little as Thursdays and Fridays neared. Now, I'll allow myself a pasta or pizza dinner starting on Wednesdays. As a result, my legs feel fresh all week and the rides are more enjoyable. As the holidays are approaching things have slowed down a little at work and I allow myself a little more time to enjoy my ride in the mornings. I'd like to ride through the winter but my persisitant groin sprain may prevent that. If so, I'll have to switch to something else to maintain my cardio.

Cold! When I checked my thermometer it read 36F. No problem, I dressed for that weather… I didn’t account for the 19mph NW wind… Nor did I account for the temperature to drop (according to accuweather) 7 degrees from the time I check till the time I left. Accuweather had the temp at 27F.
As I turned the corner out of the woods I was hit by the cold wind. I thought my face was going to freeze off! A long two miles later I turned and the wind was basically at my back. I made good time but I never really warmed up.

The weather network says it is -11C which feels like -17C with wind. I suppose it would be a little colder going against the wind. I really have been enjoying the bike lately. I must be a fairly sadistic person though because I really enjoy seeing cagers outside scraping frost and having trouble starting their cars. I want to just yell at them to get out of the car and on their bike but then I would just look like a freak. Who am I kidding, like I don't already with blinkies all over the place, full face balaclava and reflective gear. A co-worker said I looked like "Darth Vader".
Cheers.
Cheers.

here in michigan it's not yet sub-zero like it is in saskatchewan (or minnesota), so i'm still in shorts most days. today it's all 40s and grey and damp, very novemberish in appearance but still quite mild. considering getting studded tires before the ice hits. they do make them in 27", do they not?

I was a little slow waking this morning after tipping back a few ales. I gave myself an extra 10 minutes or so for the ride in figuring i'd be traveling at a more pedestrian pace...Beautiful morning, cool enough (low 30's?) to leave my gloves on, little traffic, pale blue sky, frost...I'm planning on leaving earlier everyday to extend the commute.

Foggy. Nice. The Potmac River is quite beautiful in the fog.

Cold for us (40F) but probably shirtsleeve weather for our hardcore winter commuters. Late leaving the house this morning but made up some serious time by sitting behind an Explorer on 21st Street. Who says SUVs are all bad?

Ride home yesterday felt great. Temp was around 45F (7C) when I started, and down to a bit under 40F (4C) by the time I got home. I had great energy in the legs, so made it home in very good time.
27F (-3C) on the ride in this morning. It warmed a little as I rode in, so I probably could have taken off my light fleece layer. My new commute route has been working out really well, particularly in the mornings. In the evenings, riding on one of the busier roads can feel a little bit hairy. Even though it is three lanes each way and the traffic isn't all that heavy, it seems most driver's just can't cope with not being able to fully use the right hand lane.
Snowing now, and I'm heading out for drinks this afternoon with a friend who's visiting from Australia, so no ride home this afternoon.

Our weather reports are always true - a few days late. I was told to expect rain and freezing temps this morning, but instead it was a positively balmy 44*F, with very little wind, and a bright blue sky overhead. The lake was calm and green.
Many thanks to the unknown gentleman cyclist who stopped to ask me if I needed help when he saw me pulled over onto the edge of the bike path. I was just readjusting a cranky pannier, but it was the thought that counted. Bike people are good people.

I keep wondering if I'm going to be able to handle biking through a Chicago winter; I'd really like to know. But now, I'm also kind of wondering if I'm ever going to get to find out!

Same here (Montreal, Canada), the colder it got was -6C, and we didn't see any snow (flurries one day, but they melted on the flooor)
I too, am wondering if I will be able to handle winter, and so far it hasn't shown itself. I'm really woried that it will get cold and snowy all of a sudden, and I won't have time to adapt slowly.
