Low 50Fs. Kind of damp. Got drizzled on for a minute or two. Overcast. No wind. I came up behind 3 riders. Probably commuters. They were together. I said "hey there" or something as I passed. Lots of squirrels out this morning.

Almost chilly this morning. Not to the point of needing a wind-breaker, but unseasonable. Should heat back up by mid-morning, though.
|
It was nice this morning. Cool enough that I didn't even sweat, but warm enough that I didn't freeze. I think the best thing (and perhaps the only good thing) about getting up at 6:30 for work is the sparse road traffic.
This afternoon should be a very enjoyable 25 C... *sigh* some days I wish I had job that let me work outside. |
Perfect morning here. Light traffic and just cool enough to keep me from sweating. 15 miles to work.
|
Mostly civilized commute this morning, nothing major to fret about . I made good time because I took my "A" Bike this morning. I wanted to test the 90mm stem I installed, so far so good.
|
Oh, I feel like crap today. A big steaming pile o' poo. I went to the hospital at 3:00 a.m. 'cause I couldn't breathe, and it took so long for them to get to me that I had to leave and go to work. So here I am, nodding off mid-sentence and generally hating life. I almost crashed into cars twice on the way in. :(
|
Beautiful morning. A little overcast, perfect temp. I adjusted my seat on the way in and realized I had it a bit too low. That made all the difference in my ride. Got to work, feel great and its my friday. Life could not be better. Well, unless it were my saturday.
|
Nice, did 60 miles this weekend, 14 of which were the brutal climb to sandia crest. I was pretty stiff today, but actually wished I had ridden the longer route, as 4 miles was barely enough to spin the sluggishness out of my legs and feel good. I wanted more :-)
|
My ride in today was good. Overcast so it wasn't too hot. I did see one car pulled out of the traffic jam by a motorcycle cop. The traffic was very slow, so they probably weren't speeding. I just pedalled on by.

first commute of the summer semester! temps in the 60's with a very slight breeze in the morning. although I left slightly later than I wanted to, I actually came in earlier than I usually do which gave me some extra cool-down time after locking my bike and cleaning up. really fast ride in with a stop by my locker to get my extra lock then over to the building my class was in. no problems at all, really fun commute in.
temps were in the 70's with almost no wind in the afternoon. got out at 11, left at 12 after some lunch, rode to downtown CP to get some errands done then around the old town area for a little bit then back to campus and home by my usual route. about a block from my house I saw what appeared to be a set of quick release skewers in the middle of the road, but upon closer inspection it was actually a TV cable. the entire ride back was also fun and problem free. so begins my final semester of college. |
55F and windy. Had to dodge some tree limbs on the side of the road from the big storm that moved through last night.
|
Really uneventful.

Ugh, Rose Festival. Downtown Portland is full of drivers who don't seem to know how to act around a bicycle and pedestrians who don't understand what the "Don't Walk" sign means.
On the bright side, Pedalpalooza is ramping up. So nice for them to do it the same time as Rose Festival. |
a speedy ride downtown on the bike path for an important meeting and got to my building only to discover I had forgotten my bike lock! The security guards have strict and I mean- strict- orders NO BICYCLES in the building under ANY circumstances. I plead and beg and guarantee them that should the building manager see me I will take full responsibility for this serious and potentially deadly infraction of this very important rule. Eventually, they very reluctantly concede (I've been a security guard and I know that they actually were at risk of losing their jobs or at the very least getting reamed should I get caught so I felt like a complete heel)
I sneak the bike into my office successfully, then run to my meeting, then run to the LBS and by a new lock (my wife's bike needs a new one anyway) but best of all end up buying a used dahon helios I'd been eying for a couple of weeks. I'll be bringing it to Rome and Lisbon in July. got back to my building and who do I see exit the building?- the building manager. I watch him head into another building and I run upstairs grab my bike and lock it across the street- phew! Then had a great laugh with the two security guards about my frantic undercover antics- so no damage done. this will be my last week of Boston commuting for a while then it's off to NYC where I'll be buzzing all over the Big Apple on the big black buzz with the red milk crate on the back. Any Rome, Lisbon or NYC riding ( I was living there before the west side bike path was completed so I'm looking forward to that) suggestions are welcome. IM me. |
Ugh, Rose Festival. Downtown Portland is full of drivers who don't seem to know how to act around a bicycle and pedestrians who don't understand what the "Don't Walk" sign means. I've never been happier to cross the bridge out of downtown and into my neighborhood.

I was on vacation for a week, got in 140 miles. No wind today, so the ride both ways was fast. Coming home was paced by a cop. Tried to get the elusive speeding on a bike ticket, no luck.:D I felt as fast as R600DuraAce imagines he is. I love days like that.
|
one of those great days.... it was 110 degrees but with the breeze it felt like 91. heaven. (to a Phonecian in June) I never got tired, I never got dizzy. I rode without a helmet and with a whole LOT of water. it was ****ing great.

Fast.

not unbelievably slow coming home either. bit of a bonus considering 5 hours of sleep and a general ~30 reading on the feel-like-crap-o-meter. now eating pizza with olives and green peppers on it. |
Awesome commute home, although I'm not sure why... I had some nasty headwinds for the first half, a bit of rain, it was freakin' cold, etc, etc. Maybe it was the fact that the wind kind of changed directions and I just flew (or so it seemed!) on the second half of the ride.
Or maybe I'm toughening up mentally and now saying "screw you wind!!!" :) |
Fast!
Had my road bike today. I probably set a personal speed record for my short days. |
Swung round the LBS to pick up a new pair of bibs that I bought on sale but they needed to order my size. I was good: I didn't buy a single other thing. When I got home I saw that the USPS was trying to deliver my probikekit.com package but no one was home. D'oh!

Computerized.

It's gonna be another beautiful day today, and I'll be stuck inside again. My ride in today was fast, just like everyone else (it would seem). I'm also starting to see way more bike commuters out, as well...
