Sorry to hear that. Hope you get an even better job.

I hope I don't loose my job for posting this. Had to get permission from my boss, who had to get permission from ramp security, who had to get permission from TSA. You never know when a bike commuter/pilot would turn rough and throw a bike from high altitude on the White House!

In reality, here is where she sleeps! It's the crew sleeps room

Luckily we have our very own locked storage room! Any downside to hanging a bike like this all day every day? Most people say it's fine...

After a wet ride, if there's water in the frame it may not drain fully until the bike has its feet back on the ground. Then it'll piddle a bit. I've been hanging mine at home and at work for years with no other issues.

I had water in the frame of my bike recently that didn't drain UNTIL I flipped up vertical on the back wheel. The water poured out of small holes at the ends of the chain stays.

Ha yeah I guess all the racks make the pic a little confusing... the front wheel basically sits in a nest so the bike is pretty much suspending from the front wheel. They also make these that fold up to the wall, so they take up no space when not in use.

Parked in a storage room on the ferry I work on. I had a small budget appoved for bike racks, but not too much luck sourcing them so far.

My new foul weather commuter built recently, today was the first ride. It's a vintage MTB drop bar conversion.

BC Ferries? Hmmm... you're probably the perfect person to ask about this:

My mother is moving to Duncan next month and I intend to visit her by bicycle. Do they ever run out of room for cyclists and you have to wait for another sailing, or can you pretty much always get on when you want?

As long as they still have room for foot passengers, they'll still take cyclists. Best to be there and ticketed before loading starts - that way you're generally first on and first off (with some exceptions). Unless the ship has reached it's license limit (the maximum number of people Transport Canada says we can carry), they'll sell you and your bicycle a ticket.

I dunno about a bike but I just watched an episode of Mythbusters from a few weeks ago and saw a dude ride a motorcycle across water. Over 100 feet across water about 3-4 feet deep. Motorcycle went straight across the surface of the water. Then of course they pushed the distance longer and managed to get about 300 feet before going down into the water. I was dumbfounded they could get that far.

No luck here either. The security won't even allow folding bikes up the elevator! It's a shame cause I could probably fit 5 bikes comfortably in my shared office (occupied by only moi ).

Mine:
