Looking for the absolute raciest bike with disc brakes and can hold fenders AND rack

So you don't like the bike because you think it looks bad and is made by a company that's only been around 40 years, so intead you think I should go over 3000 miles out of my way to get a different bike? Why should I do that when I can go less than 3 miles away from my house to get a bike that seems to work fine?
I'd really appreciate it if you would give me advice that's actually useful. Yes, I'm new to this, but you're not really giving me any reason why I should listen to what you say.

Personally, I couldn't care less what you buy. If you want to see how most of the world commutes, book a ticket to Frankfurt and I'll meet you at the airport and "start you" on a real nice ride where you can stop by the ToutTerrain factory and they can professionally fit you to a bike that you can ride back to airport and bring back to the US in a box.
But, if you want some fancy-pants, non-pedigree CAAD bike, then "more powah to ya!"
Just don't complain to me when it sucks in traffic (no dynamos/lights) and blows tires/tubes/spokes. The bikes I suggest have been through several hundred thousand km and survive.
Good luck with the CAAD!

I'm not implying that Tout Terrain makes a bad bicycle - they offer wonderful trekking and city bikes.

You have yet to tell me anything wrong with the bike other than it isn't "cool". Yeah, I'm gonna put lights on it. Most bikes here don't come with lights. No, I'm not going to spend thousands on a plane ticket just to buy some fancy pants european bike. List some technical stuff thats wrong with it, and I'll start listening to you, but until then I'm just gonna assume you're some kind of fanboy making decisions based on emotions rather than on facts.

Tout Terrain came into being less than 10 years ago. How does that fit in to this perspective?

You can buy a bike for a "racer."
We hand-weld (you at some point in the states had a manufacturing industry, no?) these frames in the EU and provide a test-proven commuter bike. If you want to pretend to be a Cannondale racer, that's you're choice (but we'll look our nose down at you for being idiotic.)

Oh, so you work for them, and you're getting upset I'm not going to travel 3000 miles to buy one of your bikes or fly to europe to buy one of your bikes. Sorry.

I have commuted thousands of km.... Just not on one of your bikes because they are ridiculously impractical to buy in the US.

Personally, I couldn't care less. I just want you to know why most Europeans consider Americans ignorant. Thankfully, you elected Obama, which one of the smartest things you've done in a while.

The bicycle I choose to commute on is probably more like the type you prefer, but I'm not here to convince him to do what I do. I love my IGH, dynamo and (German) Supernova lighting, and wouldn't trade it for anything. The OP would likely hate it.

Don't believe the Obama Hype. He's literally only very slightly-to-the-left of GWB and Romney and McCain. There is no left at all to speak of here.

Let's keep the OP's needs in mind - he's been pretty specific about his needs- rather than trying to convince him that he's barking up the wrong tree. He's looking for light and fast with some aspects of utility.

I'm *really* feeling the Cannondale CAADX Disc Ultegra. Thoughts? It seems perfect for me. Might be a *bit* pricey, but its in my budget. And I'll probably never be leaving it out of my sight, either.

The funny part is acidfast7 is an American living in Germany.
To OP,
I have seen the bike in real life and they really did a great job on the bike. BTW, the frame is entirely diffrent from non-disc last year's models. Rear is 135mm and they re-shape the top tube so that it connects to the wishbone stays directly. It looks even better in real life.
Go for it. You'll love it.

The crossrip looks like alot of fun.
If it was my money, I'd get a titanium cross from Bikesdirect. Super light, very nice frame, and well equipped for not much more than the ones you mention. Disc ready (Less than $150 to swap to BB7), rack/fender mounts, and pretty dead sexy for the money, IMO. https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/..._pro_ti_xi.htm
Otherwise, Volagi seems to be gaining momentum in the realm of versatile, sporty bikes.

I just asked a very similar question myself essentially with a slightly longer commute but equally fast bike requirement: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...cs-reqs-inside
I got the same lame German advice (BTW I'm from Europe originally) you did and it was partially my fault as I didn't really specify what I was looking for. But I also got the same bikesdirect advice and the Volagi advice which were quite honestly the two best bikes I could have sourced.
The Volagi Viaje SL and the Fantom Cross Team Titanium from BikesDirect are on the top of my list.

And we can now add a Cannondale to the list!

The new Tricross Comp Disc Compact looks cool and can take rake and fender. I have the 2010 version (no disc brake) and love it.

OK so here's some Canadian's twisted opinion.
That particular Cannondale has nice graphics, and the Ultegra shifters and derailleurs are nothing to complsin about. The carbon wrapped seat post, on the other hand, is just for looks. and Cannondale actually puts a more solid wheelset (eyeletted MADDUX CX 3.0's) on some of their $700 Quicks.
A decent wheelset is over $500 and anyone who isn't a lightweight should be looking at wheels as much or more than the rest of the bike.
Then there's the other thing I thought was kinda obvious. Racy bikes with disc brakes lose a lot of the 'racy' part when you stick fenders and racks on them. Not just visually, but functionally too.

This one - https://www.konaworld.com/bike.cfm?content=rove - is high on my list for a commuter. Light weight steel, discs, eyelets for racks and fenders, SRAM Apex....
