Mount light on brake boss.
What's the best way to mount an LED headlight (Busch & Müller Eyc) on a brake boss? Do I need a special mount or what? Thanks. [h=1][/h]

I would probably just use a couple of stout washers and maybe a longer bolt. There are various mounts available from B&M, I'm not sure they would work any better. You can't mount at the crown?

Are you talking about a canti brake boss or a standard caliper hole? Is there a particular issue you're having mounting the lamp?

Edited to add: It looks like I'd have to order two parts from Peter White: a Cronometro Nob and a special handlebar bracket he sells. I'm in Europe and would have to have those parts shipped over from the States--if he were willing to ship abroad. There must be another way.

got it. If you can get some thick 6mm washers, then I would just put one on either side of the existing mount. Something like the Brompton mount would work well, that's what I have been using on one of my bikes.
There isn't a lot of mating surface, would probably be better if you put a bushing on the brake boss, but that's starting to be a project

First a quick question: do you ever intend to use that canti boss for a brake?
I ask because they are very easy to permanently damage by applying too much torque to the bolt that is normally used to secure the brake. I have a B&M Cyo lamp and it requires a respectable amount of torque to the mounting bolt to keep it stable, but mine is mounted normally to the fork crown.
Also, I think you can get the knob and handlebar mount in Europe since I think Peter imports them anyway, though I'm of no use to suggest any retailers.

QBP Problem Solvers Brake stud Mount LT0901
+ the afore-mentioned Schmidt Part#: SCH75532 handlebar mount gripping around it. perhaps ?
I use the ' Schmidt headlight mount for Brompton fork crown, stainless:' in mounting an Eyc on my Brompton.
you could fabricate something yourself [bend a L bracket with a hole, each, for 2 bolts] ..
But this forum seems to prefer seeing shopping links..
People get Surly Bikes over there so there must be a QBP distributing importer to Europe.
here's German B&M via UK https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/busch-and...33640/?geoc=us

didn't have a fork handy, so I just used a loose canti braze on. The connection is really solid, even without using a wrench to tighten down the bolt
If the light was any bigger, I suppose it would be difficult to have it oriented the right way without hitting the tire, but with this light there wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks to all for the help, and especially to Unterhausen for taking the time to post those photos. I think I get it now. That looks like quite an elegant solution and, best of all, it doesn't require buying any special parts.
