Kinetic Trainer / Sensors
I have a Kinetic Road Machine
I also have a Android Smartphone with MapMyRide
If I get the inRide HR / Candence sensors
Do you think they would work with MapMyRide software ?
When I opened MapMyRide and went to connect apps & devices (HR/Cadence) it said " heart rate sensor requires Bluetooth LE hardware support " And the Bike Cadence said "requires ANT+ hardware support"
Just looking for a inexpensive way to track my indoor workouts
Thanks,
Mike

why do you want to "Map" your indoor workout? you don't move around on a trainer. inRide sensors seems a bit overpriced to me though.
What do you want to keep track of? cadence/power/time/calories/other? a bit more info helps finding the optimal solution for your need.

I see that the inRide app is still iOS only.
Whether you can use certain sensors with your phone depends in part on what phone you have / what sensors and communication types your phone supports. Which version of Android / which type of Bluetooth / any ANT+ support (rare)?
I also see that the inRide heart rate sensor is a rebranded Wahoo Bluetooth heart rate strap.

I am wanting to keep in shape over the winter. I got a Kinetic Road Machine and would like to have some type of work out plan to keep in shape. I just don't want to get on it and spin with no purpose . I need a plan for my indoor trainer this winter. I thought about just watching riding videos but thought I might need more to keep track of my efforts .
I don't want to map my ride on the trainer...its just I thought I could use those sensors to measure my heart rate and cadence.
I don't need to loose weight or count calories....
I guess this was my thought :
Kinetic Road Machine
HR and Cadence sensors
Ant+ or Bluetooth stick
Using my PC with TrainerRoad
Sufferfest Videos
I am really wanting to use my PC and Monitor for my application....Not really want to use my phone anyway.
And looking for the least expensive way to do this . If its just watching videos and simulating a ride or getting sensors and software and for my pc and really keeping track of what I'm doing....I'm not sure.
Any suggestions ??
Thanks

Copying some stuff I posted about Zwift (what works for Zwift should work for TrainerRoad):
I think you could get into it with just an Ant+ speed and cadence sensor paired with an Ant+ USB-m dongle on your Windows 7+ or OS X 10.7+ computer. The heart rate sensor would add a dimension but isn't required. Based on a recommendation I got this Suunto Movestick Mini. Note that Zwift isn't spec'ed to work with Ant1 dongles, which may still be out there for sale. I tried an older and larger Garmin Ant1 stick first and it did not work with Zwift though it did with Golden Cheetah.
If you're motivated, the trainer can help you maintain consistency in riding regardless of weather, allergies, darkness or other conditions outside. Plus you can get more of a workout indoors in a given period. And though you incur some cost if you add some sensors to your trainer riding, you are saving some wear and tear on your bike which means some reduced maintenance and components cost.
A vast number of additional indoor training applications are reviewed in the Winter 2014-2015 Trainer App In-Depth Guide. Some of these would also work with your Kinetic Road Machine.

I did also end up getting a USB hub so I could position both the ANT+ and the Bluetooth USB dongles closer to the computer (on top of the case, at the front, instead of in the back, away from the bike). Being closer led to eliminating the data drop outs.
If you haven't read DCRainMaker's review of the inRide stuff, I'd definitely recommend getting his perspective.

If you want to go the "least expensive" way, then try this: hit up ebay/craigslist to get the cheapest ANT+ speed/cadence sensor/ANT+ HR strap/ANT+ PC dongle. I go with ANT+ since it's well established, so it's a more mature market with products targeting both high and low end. BTLE is fairly new, and your choice can be limited at times. Then, get goldencheetah(FREE software) and start putting together workouts yourself. A bit of learning curve for goldencheetah, but it's free. TrainerRoad is ~$10/month. If you want to get social, Zwift(which is still in beta and require a decent graphics card for your PC, many laptop graphics won't cut it) is a choice.

Golden Cheetah is free and has an indoor training mode. IIRC it has PC, OSX and Linux downloads available. It doesn't take you through a multi ride training schedule, though. But it will take you through individual workouts that you've downloaded or input. TrainerRoad is supposed to be a great service for $10 a month or so.
I already had Garmin sensors on the bike.

inRide pod (I have one - paid $70 for it with the HR strap) works great with TrainerRoad and the KK inRide app. Unfortunately none of those work with Android. It may generically work and give you speed/cadence and (uncalibrated) power with a generic cycling app that works with BLE sensors, but I'd give no guarantees honestly, as the inRide pod can be a bit finicky, so running it outside the normal parameters (i.e. with not approved software) is likely unadvisable.
The HR strap with the inRide is just a Wahoo BlueHR FYI.
