Since I've been asked a few times about it, I'm going to be developing some mounts that will allow my new light to work in conjunction with the K-edge type of systems. Got one on order to play with!

It was mentioned above that some lights can be mounted upside down. If you plan to do that, keep in mind that some lights will have a vent hole that if the light is upside down could capture rain. It is best to use the light in the orientation that was intended by the manufacturer.

If the gopro mount can hold a camera bracket that has a female 1/4 inch threaded hole, you could mount any light that is designed for a fork crown by adding a 1/4 inch bolt. I did a quick search, I found several tripod or monopod type mounts that had the 1/4 inch male fitting but those 1/4 inch threaded fittings are likely too short to put a light and 1/4 inch nut onto. Thus, I think you would want the fitting that has the female threaded hole and use your own bolt.

That is getting close to my limit now at 600 lumen. My commute is 60% on unlit trails through some woods so 800 lumen just cuts it. I have a 1200 lumen Lezyne mega drive but no good way to mount it on my current bikes.

Yes, bars are crowded these days, and we need more effort put into accessory mounts at the OE level, and maker sites like the one [MENTION=21724]cyccommute[/MENTION] linked above, Shapeways, point the way. Lots of possibilites exist, especially with internal routing where the cables are more out of the way.

Specialized has a neat steerer tube spacer mount for their Stix lights, but it’s a proprietary design with very limited expansion potential. That’s just one example among several from manufacturers, but we need more, IMO.

My problem with mounting a light isn't clutter so much (my 1x has only a rear shifter cable and my DI2 has basically no shifter cables). It is the large and stiff hydraulic brake lines and the riser bars on my Roubaix. A lot of bar mounted lights won't fit. For example my Lezyne Megadrive, which I really like for a number of reasons, has the badly designed mount pictured below. It just won't fit. That is why I have moved to a light that made for a k-edge or Garmin Out front mount.

I hate to resurrect this thread, but I suppose that's not too egregious, as it's only a couple of years old. Are there currently any additional options for mounting a headlight on a GoPro mount under my Wahoo Elemnt Roam? I'd probably use a K-Edge mount.

Another option would be a headlight with an out the front mount (like the Roam uses) so I could put it on the other side of the stem.

Since I don't use a Garmin ride perputer, the Garmin headlight is less attractive. I kind of like the idea of the Cycliq Fly 12. I don't subscribe to the "video is safety" point of view, but it would be cool to capture the occasional coyote or bobcat on video.

What's your budget? If you want to go more on the expensive side, Outbound Lighting has a special GoPro adapter for mounting the lamp hanging. Lupine also offers an GoPro adapter for their SL(-F) series of lights, and both lights are usally mounted with a quick release out the front of your handle bar. Otherwise, there are some versions of Lezyne lights that have threads on top of the lamp housing where a gopro adapter can be attached.

I actually did end up developing a mount system for my lights to solve this.

I think I've pretty much settled on the Cycliq Fly 12CE or whatver they're calling the current version. With the K-Edge mount it should be pretty clean.
