And if you drew the short straw, you would have to stand behind the tv with one hand on the bunny ears and hold whatever pose best enhanced the reception.

Our 1960 Zenith B&W had a remote like this:

It could only turn the TV on/off or change the channel upwards.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

You know your old when you remember modern phrases as being literal. For example:

When phones actually rang,
When dialing a phone mean spinning a dial
and,
When dropping a dime on someone involved actually dropping a dime.

I recall only having to drop a nickel (as in "it's your nickel"). Also there were a few payphones in town where you had to hold the earpiece to your ear while speaking into a trumpet.

Yup, and I discovered that jingling my keys a certain way would change the channel because one of the overtones was the same pitch as the chime in the remote.

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

You know that you're getting old when you start a BF thread about retiring and nobody acts surprised.

Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.

When you look through the obituaries and most of the people are younger than you.

You know you and your bicycle are old when replacement parts are no longer made. you also know you're old when the old mechanic at the bicycle shop sats, 'dura Ace Ax, Uniglide? Never heard of them". and you remember when they first came out and were state of the art.

However, my grandad said you're only as old as you feel. At 102 years young he was still saving for his old age.

Cheers

I broke that habit a while back, but still remember the raw milk we used to get from a local farm. Sometimes we literally had to spoon some of the cream off the top because it was too thick to shake...... good stuff.

Also remember the milk dropped off by the milkman, glass bottles with paper caps.

My introduction to 'word processing' was the typing class I took in ninth grade with mechanical typewriters. Am I old yet?

You had a typewriter????.

Actually, when I was in grade school we were using fountain pens. Penmanship was a serious thing because the pens were sensitive to the angle they were held to the paper. Despite being a natural lefty, I had to learn to write right handed because otherwise the hand would smear the wet ink.

Ball point pens were a major innovation, and greatly simplified things, but were too late for me to switch back.

Someone posts a "do you remember" message, and your first reaction is either, "I still use one", or "I thought they were still around."

You know you're old when you walk into a bicycle museum and know more about the bicycles/components on display than the museum staff do.

Cheers
