Rode 22.25 miles tonight with 712 feet of rise. Took me 1:38, which is about average for the Michigan chip seal roads. It was actually a bit cool tonight as a cold front came through. Not sure it was over 70 degrees when I finished around 8:00 PM. Nice ride in the windy conditions.

Did my first 50 miler on the new bike. Wasn't that fast, more of a "ramble" pace. Included stops for breakfast about halfway, and a local craft beer to power my last ten miles home. I called it the Twin Falls ride because I stopped by two waterfalls.

I just knew you would enjoy that ride. That bike has appeal :)

Easily the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.

Yes. 30 miles.

22 miles on the morning breakfast ride. Couldn't go for extra miles since I had to take my dog to a vet appointment.

Big day. Prep ride for my race in Wisconsin next weekend. As it turns out, it is also the day of the Iowa-Illinois Tug O War between Port Byron IL and LeClaire IA. Huge crowd. I had to go through another part of the town as the trail was cut off.

'twas supposed to rain this morning so I didn't expect to get my usual Sunday route. But you can't trust a weather forecast in Oklahoma so I went anyway. Barely a cloud in sight.

Rode 15.15 today with 459 foot of rise according to Strava. Windy ride, which causes some extra effort, but I was able to ride 60 miles this weekend. Enjoyed the time on the bike. Back to work tomorrow!

Finally!

Got a decent day to get out & ride a bit!

Been too hot & humid until earlier this week, then front brought cooler air but yesterday was CHILLY for season and the NW wind was ferocious! So I didn't get out but today? Finally!

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ec11a19b59.jpg

Too many issues left me hurting to get much pedal time in earlier this year but I've been riding my Kona to work & back enough that today I felt I could take on a longer ride. So an hour's time on the MBGR saw me get in just under 9 miles / 390 ft elev. in 42 minutes actually on the pedals. Felt really good too, anxious to do more later this week, month, season.

Noted heart rate last night hit a 47 bpm low, evidence of benefits of exercise. I've seen 49 before but not often. @ 75.5 I'm glad I can still do this, my goal is maybe 45 yet this season.

COURSE RECORD! Fastest DAMn Fatbike!! The DAMn, or The Day Across Minnesota - 240 miles, nearly all gravel roads, starting at midnight on the South Dakota boarder and you have 24 hours to get to the Wisconsin boarder.
Unofficial time: 16:47 ... beating the past fatbike record from the first DAMn in 2017 by roughly 40 minutes.
The weather was outstanding, clear skies, cool temps, and friendly tailwinds.
So grateful to Frau Toad for her loving support before, during, and after this massive challenge!

I rode just over 20 miles this morning. Longest ride for me in a while.

Rode east for a mile or so to get off the cow path I've been riding, then north on smooth roads to a pretty area known as Ovilla Oaks.
I need to do this more often. Especially on low traffic days.

I missed out on riding this morning due to scheduling - but then wound up riding this evening while my daughter attended a gathering at the park. I brought the Raleigh Competition set up with various fixed-gear and single speed options and chose to run it in 42x22 single speed mode - and then got to sit in the car for a bit until the rain settled down. It did after a bit, and my first thought was I would ride the loop around the pond, but then I found the path blocked by a massive gaggle of Canada geese and their duck friends. Figuring discretion was the better part of valor, I pointed the bike towards the trails instead. After having the requisite spill when I stalled out, I made it through one loop, then made my way back out to find the avian menace had retreated. I spent the rest of my time there alternating between the crush and run path around the pond and a gentler hardpack trail loop in the woods, winding up with a touch over nine miles and enough dirt piled up on the bike to plant tomatoes.

Yesterday was one of the nicest riding days we've had in the Boston area for a good long while. My buddy and I did one of our usual routes to the western suburbs.

Took the gravel bike out for a spin. Poked around some back roads toward the southern end. Between getting there and back, I may have ridden 1 mile on gravel.

Ah, but the roads were (mostly) quiet, except for a lot of cyclists. Cooler weather (topped out around 85 degrees before I got home, it's been 10 degrees warmer than that for two weeks); the air felt cool even when the sun got warm. Because of the nice weather there were a lot of people on the roads. One road in particular that I don't recall every seeing another cyclist on had at least a half a dozen. Another short climb (nobody else was on that road) yielded a spectacular view up the river, with ridges to the south and east.

When I came around a bend in the (gravel) road, there was a turkey family; two adults and half a dozen poults, about 15" tall. Daddy had to cross the road when he say me, the rest of the family walked 10 steps and disappeared into the grass. Further on was one of the saddest looking hawks I've ever seen. Turned out, when I spooked it, it was a molting red tail. So it flew off the power line and out of sight -- to land right beside the road where I spooked it again 5 minutes later.

I was almost dry when I got home, rather than dripping sweat. Took me a while to figure out I'd grabbed the wrong drink mix in the morning, so while I drank close to a gallon of water, I was low on salt after four hours on the road. Gotta remember to read the labels!

Beautiful day. Cruised around the neighborhood for sixteen miles.

Cheers,

Today was just a chill 15 miles over familiar roads on the old Gitane TdF fixed-gear conversion. I did, however, have an opportunity to speak to someone who declared himself the Greatest Of All Time.

I got up early this am and got out and rode for 17 miles staying on the bike path the whole ride. It was lovely to be out riding this morning.

Don't know what your early is but if you came to my neck of FL you could join me for a late early start like I had today -- 2:02am for a leisurely 25.52 miles.

Tomorrow should be an earlier shortly after Midnight start. :D

I've been doing my 25 miles/day for the last 14 straight days. Last night I decided to do a short (wound up around 17 miles) of more leisurely pedaling after the heat abated. Loving my new pedals, also added new brake pads and jockey wheels. Shifts and rides like a dream. I'd just started out when I stopped to shoot this pic. Was full on dark by the time I returned home. What a great ride!

The next time we make it to FL I will definitely give that consideration.

I got a late start today as I rode to the senior center, stayed and played whist for the morning, rode over to the assisted living, then rode home. In total today I made 25 miles. It was an awesome day!

Took advantage of another awesome weather day to ride for about an hour around the east and north sides of town.

Decent speeds for an old phart on wheels, pretty average topography for around these parts!

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...030888a147.jpg
Stopped for a breather at the top here, I'm looking back down the awesome 'challenge' hill I just climbed on this route.

This the start of the north leg, then it's a left turn headed west.

Farther along to my left turn a few hills ahead!

Left turn headed back into town to vote before I head home for a shower & lunch, then mow the lawn.

I bike around Dubuque now and then. I was way up in Ashland earlier this Summer and the area that looked interesting to bike was around Viroqua. Are you near there?
