Dang that sure is some kinda road you've been riding on today! That at the beginning or the end?? |
The wife and I took advantage of this fall weather we've been having, and did an 18 mile ride this morning.
Looking forward to more days like this. |

I got out for a 13 mile solo ride today. Wife went shopping, so I was able to pick up the pace a bit.
It was a little bit hot, but not as bad it was just a few weeks ago. |
Out at 12:54AM just 54 minutes into October and rode 14.41 miles. Nice ride to begin the month.
|
8 miles today in the wind (gust up to 17 mph). That was not fun!
|
Had a nice morning for a ride around the lake.

Completed the 40th Honolulu Century Ride yesterday. According to the GPS app (Bike with GPS) the 50 miler I completed was actually 56 miles. I was pleased with a well run event put on by the Hawaii Bicycle League. I completed all the challenging climbs on the course & completed the ride in my projected time and pace with my 20” folder. Also had no mechanical issues after a tuneup to address recent problems. Good times.
to the 100 mile turnaround instead of turning back at the 50 mile turnaround. This year they included courses changes in the 1st 12 miles that possibly shortened the ride distance. The past couple of years I rode the event on my 20” Dahon folding bike. The distance was a challenge on the folder but this year, I traded in the 406 rims for 700s with my new Pinarello. The ride was much more manageable but was handicapped by the weight of my 3L hydropack. With the addition of a heart rate monitor, power meter and a head unit, I’m now able to better gauge my efficiency. Future rides will probably not include the hydropack since I normally don’t train with it. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8c44f17e6.jpeg Posing @ Makapuu Lookout, normally don’t stop here but had to take a pic with new bike https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1433b3796.jpeg Finished @ 100 mile turnaround (actually 46.9 miles). |
Was planning on a 12:01am start today but rains were coming in on the RADAR so back to sleep. Woke up and got out at 3:28am for a quick and dark 14.41 miles. Shower and back down for some more shut-eye then woke again and out for ride number 2 at -- 7:33am this time for 31.13 miles. Today's total = 45.54 miles and had heart rate up to 160bpm so not too bad for a 75yo Prostate Cancer Unique U-Nic.

I got out for a 15 mile solo ride this morning. The wife went grocery shopping, so I was able to pick up my pace a bit.
It was getting pretty muggy by the time I arrived home. |
Good day to ride today. Just a light wind. I made 11-1/2 miles on a new seat. Still trying to find one that is comfortable, the search continues.

I really like mine. When riding I am never thinking about my butt! 😆 |
My wife and I recently moved to a smaller place. So, I spent some neighborhood recognizance: found a nice Little League field for future reference and found Dunkin size medium Iced Coffee fits my bottle cage!

28 miles today. Partially along the Mississippi. It's crazy to be riding in the 90s in October. |
31 miles today on a windy but cool & clear morning. Really fun going with the stiff breeze.

And late-planted corn still shows some green, but that won't last, or the 90's we've been seeing lately. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...63bad8cb94.jpg Some farmers here are harvesting their early corn now. Beans are pretty dry, more of that getting taken in than corn in these parts. Fields ought to be bare a couple or three weeks from now. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9440be42a9.jpg |
Always thankful to post this thread
Lovely weather of late.

Solo ride at Calero Park, made it up the steep Wall section. The land of Serpentine rock!

It may be October, but it's still Iced coffee weather!! |

Got a late start and the temp was almost 90° but this time of year the sun isn’t as bad as in summer.
One 6 mile loop around the lake. I felt good enough at the end I may do 2 tomorrow. |
