22 miles with 5 guys from the club. It was a very nice day, overcast and warm but not hot. It was a little breezy, but not bad. We had planned to do about 10 miles more, but one of the guys had a problem with his cassette coming loose. Luckily one of us was the head wrench at the LBS and he was able to come up with a trick to tighten the end cap despite not having the desired tools.

On Saturday night I managed 75 km in just over 4 hours. Not too shabby as I started training for a bike tour by starting with 30 km rides. I took yesterday off to recover. I will go again tonight or tomorrow night and do another 75 km. By this week end I want to do 90 km, and do that next week as a maximum, and then start training by pulling my BOB Ibex starting @ maybe 60 km. The road traffic is pretty good and so is my B&B Inox IQ light. Training evenings and nights is the only way to go for me as it is TOO HOT during the day - as in 40+ degrees C.

Another century-107 miles but this one only had about 6000 ft of climbing. For the life of me you'd think I'd start dropping a few pounds. I'm getting really tired of lugging this extra Mud and Snow Tire that's around my waist up and down these darn hills.

71 @ 15.0 on Saturday (club ride). 36 @ 17.5 on Sunday (solo). Today is a rest day, hope to ride with a group tomorrow morning

It's Bike to Work week! I had a nice commute on the road bike this morning.

Saturday morning, I rode at least twice as far as I have in one day since 1986. The organizer said it was ~63 miles, but a guy's Cateye showed under 60... whatever, I'm dang proud. I called my kids as soon as I got home and I'm gonna put it on Facebook.

19.8 miles Gorgeous day but in the 40's. At least there is sun. Right hand was still numb intermittently.

Today’s ride: Left a little late this morning thinking I would have to ride by myself. My plan was to head to Panera for coffee and then go north of SR 46 to see if the bridge had been completed so that one can ride on out to the DeBerry Mansion. When I got to Panera my friend Jim was already there and had his coffee, so we hooked up and rode together. When we got to the bridge it was still being worked on and one of the workers said it would not be open to traffic for two more weeks, so the DeBerry ride will have to wait for a couple of weeks. Since we could not get across the bridge we turned around and headed to Deer Path and the horse farms. At Deer Path we took a water break then headed to the north trail head where we ran into Chuck and he joined us on the ride back. The weather was perfect except for the 25 mph head wind on the return trip.
The way things are going this month I could have another 900 mile month. Statistics for: 05/16/2011 Miles today: 45+ Mileage this month May: 488+ Mileage this year: 3458+ Percent of 2011 goal achieved: 49+% Over/under riding days 2011 vs. 2010: +4 Over/under miles 2011 vs. 2010: +772 miles Average miles per ride this year: 39+ Average miles per ride this month: 44+ Miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 7,000: 3541, and an 8,000 mile year (best ever) is not out of reach. Tomorrow should be another perfect ride day. |
Thank you... I didn't mention that it took me 14 hours... :-DDD just kidding, it took 4, and was real windy. Flat, but windy. blowing 15-20, on the side or in the face all morning.

Finally, the weekend was stormy and chilly so it was nice as the sun came out about noon and it warmed up enough to get in 22.55 miles and it felt great!! :D

Rain ride today, Awesome!! ;) It was light raining this morning, and I had made my mind up I was going to ride a bicycle to work. Only two of my bikes will pull rain duty. The Grand Prix, of the Prelude. I opted for the Prelude.. Oh boy, I am zipping down the road, at a nice little clip and the feeling is so good, I started snapping my fingers. :) I picked the prelude..
Sweet ride, dam sweet. I almost wanna go for a lunch ride in the rain!! :D |

Today’s sightings: Loads of Cardinals, 2 sandhill cranes. Today was a good solo ride, saw a lot of riders out today.

Great ride but ruined a new cont. 4000 s tire. I was almost to my turn around point (Einstein's Bagels') and pah-ching, I went over a stone and shot it across the road. Didn't think much about it and went on the the coffee shop. While talking to a friend we looked at my new tires and low and behold, there in front of my eyes is a big bulge in the side of my new 4000s front tire. My friend gave me a lift to a bike shop and they stuck me for 69.95 + tax for another. I guess that stone cut the side wall, but the lucky thing was that we looked at the tires and I saw the bulge. Can you imagine what could have happened if the front blew out on the way back? Both unlucky and lucky day. 64 Miles and it was a nice cool day too . Not bad.

46.7 this morning in north Phoenix with 2 from the club. A bit windy, but cool temps. I got to take the morning off after some of the business trips I have had the past couple of months that had me traveling on the weekend.

I was a Bike Commuter today - 19.5 miles total with a little bit of rain on the way home. 40's to low 50's today.
Continuing to pursue getting an abandoned BSO removed from the rack at work - has been locked without moving since at least the middle of last Summer. This being Bike to Work Week and our hospital in support of BTWW, Security says they will remove it very soon. |
The regular Tuesday 30 mile group ride. Enjoyed a nice tailwind for much of the first half of the ride, but suffered with cross and head winds gusting up to 20mph most of the way back. Made decent time, but had to work hard for it.

Just did a short ride of 60 km (37 miles). My total for the year is 1292 km (803 miles). Aiming for 5000 km (3000 miles) for the year.

10 miles this morning.
|
I "semi-commuted" today. I drove into town and parked where the Ride of Silence will start. I rode my Salsa the 3 miles to work from there. It was such a nice, cool morning that I was able to ride in my work clothes without working up a sweat. I need to start doing this more often.

12.2 miles @ 18.2, morning ride before work.
|
I missed riding the past weekend and just had to get some miles in today. So I gave up lunch (I work for myself from home) and did 11 miles. I hated to stop, but I figure that's better than not riding at all.
