12 + miles on the Electra 2 of those on a rooty branchy trail in the woods. It was fun just bouncy!

Rode to and from work today - 19.5 miles. First hot/humid day of the year: Turned on the AC when I got home.

Did 33 miles today. Saw a fair sized group of FAST riders. All appeared to be under 30 so I didn't even try to stay with them. :innocent:

I rode my 85 Raleigh Prestige again today. Also, I noticed, that I am getting stronger on the bike. I didn't ride this bike that much, because the gears were kind of high, or not a lower enough gear. Now, the bike is the same, but I have changed. I am banging up hills, and staying in the saddle longer. Did my regular commute, but I am getting off the train 3 and 4 stop earlier, to give me more fun miles to ride. When I get home, I go pass my house..;). Also, I was keeping up the traffic on a fast stretch of of a dual lane highway.. All good...;)

Went on my first ride of the year today.
In late February, I blew out my knee on a skiing trip with my boys. Fractured tibial plateau, torn ACL, torn meniscus. The fracture healed, no knee instability - so I'm not getting ACL reconstruction - and the meniscus can't be repaired - so the surgeon recommended rehabbing the knee and seeing how it works out. It's been 3 weeks since I've been off crutches and in physical therapy. Did 8 miles on my newly acquired '94 Schwinn Crosscut. Mostly flat with some smaller hills. Felt pretty good. Knee's a little sore, but the Physical Therapist says cycling is good therapy for me. Just can't get out of the saddle yet on the hills. |
I took the day off. It was rainy and cold here in the Denver area.

Today's ride is AWESOME!! ;) And I haven't even finished it yet!! ;)
First, the swift ride on the GSX R1000 to the gym at 5:30 am in the morning..Awesome ride, awesome workout. But, something is missing. No go to work on the motorcycle..No, no, no!! I do a swift ride back home, call in late, dump the motorcycle, get the Centurion Ironman ready.. ;) After getting myself ready and all my gear, check the bike, oil the chain, an off. Even the first mile on the Centurion, it let me know right then and there, that I don't need to be raving about how good my Prestige or any other bike I have in my stable, except the Litespeed, cause ain't nothing going to even get close to the Centurion. The dam thing flew..It has a lower and higher gears than my Prestige and the other bikes, except the Litespeed. I was moving so quickly, that I got in the passing lane on a dual lane highway, in top gear(only for a block or two). Not only that, the Centurion is SMOOTH...I dam near wanted to take off from work..I paid $90 for this bike.;) I wouldn't give it for $600..:) Can't wait to get off, to do about a hour riding before heading home..After breakfast this morning in downtown Baltimore, I took a pic of the Centurion. I will be putting a computer and clipless pedals on this bike..That will put it on a par with my Litespeed, as the only two bikes in my stable with computers and clipless pedal. This bike is the chit, no ifs or doubts about it!! ;) http://www.cehoward.net/centu6.jpg |

Rode to and from work again today - took the 20 mile version of the roundtrip.
I actually got a nod of recognition from a fixie-riding hipster this morning in downtown Indy. |
I rode to work, exactly 10 miles each way. It was unexpectedly cold on the way home as the ocean breeze kicked in.
|
I got in a very pleasant 8-mi ride after work on the Chester Valley Trail which is right next to the small town where I live. I am still getting used to my new bike and clipless pedals, but everything is getting easier each time I go out.

About 12 miles this morning before work, first morning ride before work of the season. I didnt have the best time (40 minutes overall, including stopping for lights.... computer was not working), but the ride felt good. Great way to start off the day.

25 miles on my mtb in GSMNP. We rode Parson's Branch to Forge Ck and then the loop through Cade's Cove and back. 3200' of climbing with some steep climbs made for a fun day. The rain shower on the climb back over the mountain felt great too.

Today’s sightings: Loads of Cardinals and sandhill cranes. I did a solo ride to Panera for the usual. My legs felt like I was riding a bike with flat tires today.

5 miles this morning.

Yup, but I rode the GSX R1000. Did the swift ride to the gym, and thought about going back and getting a bicycle, but it looked like rain today. So, I stay on the GSX R1000 and went to work.. ;)
And right now, I am getting ready to do the swift ride home...;) |
Today came up an awesome bluebird Spring day. Rode 40 miles with birds chirping, bees buzzing, trees busting out with flowers, and motorists were courteous. I'm getting stronger and blasting up hills standing on the pedals for as long as I hold out. In the shower, after getting back, I noticed my legs are beginning to tan. There is still a ways to go for that razor sharp line where the bike shorts stop but it's coming.

I love Cades Cove, the last time we were there on bikes there were two black bears following us in the woods.
Every now and then one would run out of the woods and across the road right beside us. A little scary! |
