You bet I road today. Cooler temps, a little windy but a great day. 61 miles.

2-1/2 mile test ride (in jeans and teeshirt) of a new RD setup. Short, but great, ride since the rear shifting was perfect. I recently changed from Aluminum to CF handlebars and the difference as astounding - no more numb hands and more hand positions with the flat-top bars.

25 mile loop with a new personal best in speed today.
|
25.1 miles about a third of that in rain. Weather felt great in the 50's. This was on the fuji and my right hand was numb a great deal of the time.

Had a nice ride last night. With only two small issues. We, wife and I, rode along the D&R Canal, and being spring, there where clouds of gnats. Think free protein. And due to the tough winter and heavy rains, there where lots of washed out areas. But on the other hand we rode on some roads that we never thought to ride on, which will become part of our regular routes. Another minor issue, my wife was in much better form than I was, it was a struggle to keep up. I hate it when that happens.

Did my regular commute ride to the subway. Today I am riding my 85 Raleigh Prestige. It seems like every bike I choose to ride in the morning, it tries to outdue the one I rode the day before.., all good. the bike felt fantastic..I kick up a good pace for the 6 miles to the subway. Also, today it seems like all cage drivers are NICE!! :thumb: On the shoulderless road, the cars in back just nicely followed me up to where the road widens. I gave the "thank you" wave several times for that.. With the cage drivers being nice, I knew this was going to be a super ride today. Jumped off the subway, about 3 stops before my stop. That added 12 miles on to my commute, sweeeeeetttt!! ;)
Now, I am thinking "don't go to work, just ride"..;) I finally relented, and it will be to work. I did stop at my favorite breakfast spot downtown, ate fast, did about 7 more miles just riding downtown. Took a pic of my bike, and off to work.. I noticed since I am riding almost everyday, I am riding much stronger. I used to think that the Prestige needed one lower gear. Not today, I can pump harder and stronger with seemingly no effort.. I love it!! ;) My 85 Raleigh Prestige, my ride for the today. ;) http://www.cehoward.net/presty1.jpg |
I commuted to work yesterday and ended up having to place the Call of Shame on the way home. My hybrid with its big, thick tires managed to snag an industrial staple. No problem, I pull out a spare tube. As I'm putting the valve of the new tube into the hole in the wheel rim, it catches and the top of the presta valve snaps off. Okay, I always carry two spare tubes, so I go to look for the other one and realize I put it in my desk at work so I'd have a spare if I needed it. :notamused:
When I called my daughter to come and get me she was looking for an excuse to get out of her college class, anyway. Her professor laughed when she told him she had to leave because her mom rides her bike to work and got stranded with a flat tire. |

No flat tires since I started riding, and that has been a full year now. However, after reading this, I will be packing a spare tube with me from now on...;) |

I got out for a couple hill climb intervals today. My legs were so dead I didn't know if I would finish one rep but managed two 12 min. repeats. Whoopee! Hopefully this ride will help get my legs feeling better.

I rode yesterday 28 miles with LBS. Good fast ride burnt over 1200 cal. Today's my off day, thinking about riding to work tomorrow. May rain, may wimp out.
|
I rode the long way to work and then the longer way back, almost 30 miles total. Really nice weather.
|
Five miles more or less on the tandem this evening at a very relaxed pace.

The regular 30 mile Tuesday club ride (aka Tuesday World Championships ). I let myself get sucked into pushing beyond my limits and got spit out like a chunk of gristle. Still had a decent ride.

Sweet Prestige!! I'm building up a 2005 Prestige frame with Ultegra 6600 and can't wait until its ready. http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/IMG_7946.jpg Up until 2 months ago I had been off a bike for over 20 years. I picked up a 2007 Team Raleigh bike and love the ride I get from carbon. I have been trying to atleast ride 5-10 miles every evening to try and get this old body back into cycling. My baby http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/IMG_7552.jpg |

Carry a patch kit and co2 inflator, or pump. Saved many a ride that way.

Took off early from work on a 70-degree day. Got 3 miles down the road and got a flat. OK, whatever. Changed the tire, and inflated it... another flat.
I checked the tire and rim, but didn't find anything. Since I was close to a bike shop I'm friendly with, I rolled the bike there walking in my socks. Got blisters on both feet from the hot pavement. Shop guy checked the tire, and put in a new tube. Inflated it, and HISSS another flat. Turns out it was a small gash in the tire. I could have booted it, but just went ahead and bought a new tire (at full price of course.) Said F it to myself and headed back to my car. Better day tomorrow I hope. |
Went out for a hard fast 26 mile ride with my wife, who explicitly said "I want you to kick my ass." So I did my best to oblige. Managed to get her a personal best time-wise on the first half (the hilly part) of the loop, and had a blast taking advantage of a wonderful tailwind on the return portion.

The thing rides..and women are oogling over the bike too...;) I been off about just as long. Came back, and the vintage bikes took my heart.. From looking at your other bike, the Prestige is going to be the chit when you fiinish!! |
No ride today due to extenuating circumstances :) .... but I got in 2 hrs of climbing on the TriCross yesterday.
http://www.yostwerks.com/Snow12May11A.jpg ... And 3 hrs of twisties the day before:thumb: http://www.yostwerks.com/MonsterD.jpg |
Did 33 miles today. Saw a fair sized group of FAST riders. All appeared to be under 30 so I didn't even try to stay with them. :innocent:

Feeling more like ridding now that my allergies are better. Head wind on the way home but not to bad. 65+ miles today.
