40 miles on the tandem with a new club. Some very nice ranch roads with little traffic. Temps 50-60 with a bit of wind. All in all a glorious day to be on a bicycle.

Yours had the makings of an epic. All you needed was for your chain to snap at the furthest point of your ride, and to have forgotten to charge your cell phone.

I got in my longest bent ride to date, a 43 miler. What was interesting is I rode for prolonged periods with two different roadies I had never met before, who were just out for a spin before the forecasted snows hit tomorrow.

One was complaining that he couldn't find a Bianchi locally. The other, not an hour later, had a Bianchi frame he wanted to sell. I gave the potential seller as much information about the buyer as I could. Both were nice guys and were kind to humor a struggling Clyde in search for his bent legs.

Had another beautiful day (for February) and a great ride from Point of Rocks, MD to Thurmont. Rode through the Catoctin Mountains where they hide Camp David. I know it's in there somewhere, but none of the roads in are marked. I think they usually fly in by helicoper :)

There were some really killer steep hills I wasn't expecting. I ended up with 5600 feet of climbing over 73 miles. Once again I gotta try the same route in a few weeks when it greens up a little bit.

11 miles to next town and return 44 f winds N 20 mph

This morning the thermometer on the porch said 40* but the bike computer said 35* and that was correct – I never really warmed up, but it was incentive to pedal faster I guess. I think I did about 20 (gotta get that computer fixed!) rail tail to the back roads and back to the rail trail and home. Very light traffic so it was nice.

Rode the usual out and back but the winds were hard on the out as a headwind from the North. I could actually stop pedaling and have the wind bring me to a stop, so keep pedaling Bill, you won't have to stop. Glad I rode after the rain yesterday stopped me. Hope everyone had a good Sunday and a great ride, I did!!!

I'm back on the bike again after relocating from Chicago to Twinsburg Ohio. I'll spend about 75% of 2012 in Twinsburg.

I have my Origin 8 CX700 Monster-cross bike with me. I used 700x38 Schwalbe Marathon Cross touring tires on Friday. I rode 15 miles after work on Friday and covered 5 miles of thick & silty gravel on the Cuyahoga river tow-path. The 700x38 Schwalbe Marathon Cross are awesome for 50/50 on & off road travel.

Today I stayed on-road and switched to 700x32 Vittoria Randonneur Hyper tires. These are superb on dry but potholed pavement and smooth gravel. Super supple and very fast. I must have hit 45 mph multiple times on a brick-like bike and dressed like the Michelin man. Also made it up Hines Hill Rd in good form.

30 miles on the local MUP (W&OD Trail) this morning. 36 F when I started, maybe a couple of degrees higher when I finished. Those temperatures would have made this ride a non-starter back in September, but I'm used to it by this time of the winter, so it was just fine.

37.3 miles @ 16.7 average. It was a good workout if not a great average.

Twinsberg looks like a much nicer venue to ride than Chicago. I've ridden a bit in the Ashland area and it's pretty decent.

Today was weird. They had predicted a storm of Ice Age proportions here in Louisville, to the point that they salted the roads two days ago. There were quite a few cyclists out yesterday because they thought the roads would be impassable. Anyway, not a drop of precipitation fell, and it would have been a good riding day.

I'm too sore from yesterday, so it's all the same to me.

Rode about 40 miles on my Standard Loop on my 3-speed fixed gear. I had replaced the vintage Selle Italia "Turbo" saddle with a used Brooks Pro I picked up on eBay -- what a difference! I may have to invest in Brooks Pros for all my bikes.

Another 36 miles on the tandem today. But today we started form the front yard instead of driving out to the 'burbs. It means negotiating some trickier intersections and traffic, but on a cool Sunday morning that was no big deal. Light traffic, chickadees twittering for the coming spring. It was good.

Yes, the cycling here is a huge improvement. The Cuyahoga National Park has more than 100 miles of scenic and demanding roads. The general area also looks very good.

I enjoy Chicago. I was able to ride from my back door to a very good and varied set of routes that included the lakefront, multiple forest preserves and some bike friendly residential routes. All of it was flat, so change is good!

12 miles late this afternoon. Temp in the mid-30's but dry. Amazing that I have been able to ride Fri, Sat, Sun in mid-February! Woo-hoo! Rain is predicted this week but no snow.

12 miles, low 40's with about 15-20 winds. It's really great to be out in February.

Missed my Sunday club ride due to an all day on-again-off-again rain, so zero miles for Sunday. Got in a good 31 mile ride this morning at my usual MUP. There were some pretty good headwinds this morning but unlike last week, they weren't throughout the entire ride. What was nice is that the rain cooled things down a bit today. No mid 80º temps like last week.

The front and leading edge wind passed through and today was absolutely beautiful for a mid-February day. It was mostly sunny and 63 when I rode this afternoon. Took a skate day and worked at home after getting my 4X4 into the dealer with a fried computer, dead battery and blown evaporative (sp) valve in the emissions system. The ride was really great and I felt wonderful afterwards. The regular riding schedule is paying off.

Rode 23 miles today. I was fortunate that the winter storm turned out to be a flop. Waited until the afternoon so the roads could all dry out and temps would be nicer.

Not riding, cold in my back (sciatic). Dog died yesterday! Dryer went tit's up. Ate cold "Organic" chili. Strong wind. Starting new thread what i haven't done today or what i could have done today.
