yep 31 miles but a bit slower than Jets ride. Now that to me is impressive 21.4. He did however have 14 guys to help him along. I motored in with a 18.4 solo.
The weather here was beautiful as well. Oh I had another young guy speed past in a car only to turn right and almost miss his turn, why can't they just get behind and then turn, what they might lose like 15 seconds? Tools Your solo 1.5 hr. 18.4 ride is solid, nice job. Last week a young mom, on a cell phone, with a van full of kids passed me about 50' before a stop sign while I was in the center of the lane and turned right. At the next red light I apologized to her for "not recognizing how important she was, and risking her family's health by riding in front of her and that was truly sorry that I possibly wasted 3 to 6 seconds of her valuable time". |

Our ride's effort was race pace the whole way except for when we traveled through two villages and needed to slow down for red lights and stop signs. The pace would have been higher if we went around the villages. It was my first ride with the group since spring. We were joined by a few others who were also going to the Tuesday Night training Races over the summer. The ride was like an alumni gathering were everyone was showing off their jewelery, cars and wives, only they brought their hammers out.(myself included:D)

Thanks for the kudos. I am not a paceline rider but think it would be neat to feel the additional speed it would give me. My average is helped by some downhills and such but I am happy with them. I guess I have to slow down going up to though so it all evens out? I stopped , in fact turned around and went back to the parking lot where a guy did something like that once I was sort of cool about it and he was too but I felt sort of bad about it even though I was in the right.. I wont anymore because to me it is/was not worth it, I will just shake my head and keep on getting up. One thing though is that it has made me very aware around intersections. |
First ride this month started with 41 miles this morning. Hopefully, I can maintain a 40+ miles for each of my ride. It's doubtful that I'll be able to achieve 150+ miles per week with trips scheduled the middle and last week of the month.

Rode a sweet 40 miles yesterday, but did't have a chance to post. It was not toooooo hot, but humid as usual.
Today was gorgeous, but I had to spend the night at Miami Children's Hosp with my 6 yr old grandson. He's getting a bone marrow transplant to help him fight cancer. :( Here's a pix of me and my little buddy last week. It was his first ride on the tandem. He loved it. :thumb: We don't have a kid stoker so I rigged a little platform for his feet. Works great. Won't be riding again until Sat. AM club ride. I'll be spending the rest of the week at the Hospital as both mom and dad work days the rest of the the week. Plan to take the Lambo tandem with my honey  on a nice 30 miler with the club, weather permitting. |

Still nursing a broken pelvis from a cycling fall (I won't call it an accident, no contact was made.) No riding today, tomorrow, or into the foreseeable future. Maybe by October? I hope so.

28 miles with 6 hill intervals and a 14.4 mph average. Killer day on the bike, getting done was a reward.

WOW, so do I. Let us know, and best wishes. |
Good training ride tonight. We started with a group of 10 uprights and 3 recumbents (two lowracers and me on my new highracer.) I started behind and had to run at 26+ mph for the first mile and a half to catch up. The group ran at between 22 and 25 mph for the next 6-7 miles, before hitting a series of small hills. One, 19 miles out, I refer to as "KickAss Hill." It looks mild-mannered, but the uprights *always* drop me on it. Tonight I stayed with them, setting a new PR for speed at the top. Then, on the 2nd hill after KA, I put the hammer down, passed all of the uprights on the climb, and dumped them to death on the downhill. After that, they chased me for 15 miles, but they were doing good to keep me (barely) in sight. On the last 4-mile stretch, I lit both afterburners and held 28-29 mph the whole way, kicking it up slightly to 30 mph for the sign.
One of the lowracers sucked my wheel and beat me on the sign sprint, the other one got dropped on KickAss and limped in after I'd cooled off. Overall, I averaged 23.3 mph, about a mph better than I've ever done on that course. So about now, I'm going WOO-HOO! |
Nope, took the day off and thought a rest would do me good. I hope so too because I was thinking it was a beautiful weather for a ride too. Hope to get in 30+ tonight though.

21.7 miles solo at 14.4 avg.....................on dirt. Now I'm going to take a nap.

Thursday 9/03/09... Set out to do about 25 but wound up with 50.16 miles. At about the 10 mile mark I stopped at Panera Bread for some breakfast and ran into a friend that I have ridden with before, so we started riding together and it turned into 50 miles. I am glad that it worked out that way as 6 miles on Tuesday was killing my average rides this month.

Did 105.4 miles today on one of my recumbents. Third century in three weeks. :)
