Yesterday: 9 miles with a stop at the YMCA in the middle. Mid-30's and breezy.
|
Got out for a mtb ride with my wife, daughter, friend and his son today in Smoky Mtn NP. We rode a closed gravel road along a roaring creek. It was a cool but pretty day for a ride through the woods and snow showers.

Just a little run down the road, down a couple of side streets and back, basically - 8 miles roundtrip. Beautiful day, 69 F, 10 MPH WNW wind. I didn't have much time, but it was too nice to stay indoors. I'm still waaaaayyyy outta shape, though... :-\

Had another good ride in the Maryland hills. 71 miles, nearly 6000 ft. of climbing:
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/154540256 Four pretty good climbs (Gapland in Burkittsville, Hoffmaster in harpers Ferry, Reno Monument!!!, and Mar-Lu) and lots of up and down. It was extremely windy, but I had a tailwind almost the entire last half of the ride, including some great "pushes" up some of the hills. The wind gods shown on me today :) |
Easy 17 mile recovery ride on my single. Temperature at ride's end: 75 degF.

13 miles 38f 15mph winds west. Alberta Clipper dropped 1/2 " snow right after I got home . 27 mi for March .

Thats one heck of a ride with a lot of climbing too. Great job. Did you pre set your garmin for the 5 mile increments?

100 miles over the past weekend, 63 on the club ride Saturday, and 37 yesterday on a solo ride. Had one of my best average speeds for the route I did yesterday, 17.8
|
We had one of the nicest, most comfortable days weather wise yesterday in a while. Rode the usual out and back route, felt wonderful to just ride along feeling good. Temperature was 61F, clear with a light north wind. Felt good to be alive and riding.

Had a very perfect day for cycling yesterday. Went to the MUP and did my usual 30 miles. We had some terrible winds all day long Sunday (25 mph +) and some of the winds stayed around yesterday, but they weren't as bad as some of the days last week. Heading out again this morning and then again tomorrow then taking two days off before my 100K charity ride on Saturday. The weather is suppose to be great the entire week.
Edit: Today's ride was exhausting! Only 15 miles that felt as if I had done 150. Crosswinds were so bad I was almost knocked over twice during the ride. Headwinds had me dropped down to around 13 mph. I finished the loop and gave up. I would have gone home without riding if it had been that bad in the parking lot when I got there. |
21 miles , 3 day in a row riding, trying to build up more base miles as my knee and toe are still sore so I can ride in the St. Paddy's Day 50K Bike Ride on Sat. 17th. of March. The Route is quite hilly so it's gona be tough.

42 miles in soul sucking wind

Another beautiful day for riding yesterday. No real wind, just a breeze. Temperature was 61F and really pleasant, felt great with tights and a long sleeved jersey. Usual out and back route.

Lovely 25 mile group ride with 8 other folks this morning.
|
Not yet (working) but with the temps in the Toronto area going up to 55F I will be out after work for sure.
|
Yep ... re-started regular commute for the year today. Beautiful here -- high of 14C/clear skies, no snow left on the ground. Going to get in an extended ride after work. Yay!
|
A really nice 38 mile ride with some team members today. Wind was between 15-17 mph (per the weather guy) and the ride was two counties to the north where the rolling hills begin. Getting ready for next month's MS 150.
|
Yesterday: Nine miles with a stop for the YMCA's weight machines in the middle.
Today: Twelve miles in Wind Advisory conditions late this afternoon. Half the ride south into a headwind and then, woo-hoo, the second half home with a tailwind. Low 60's. Very nice for a Winter day. |
Took time off from work today. Did only about 8 miles, but it required climbing into the wind up to the airport at the top of the hill, then into more sheltered roadway. Lots of sand on the road. I took it easy to avoid skidding, especially coming back down the hill!

It was the best of times: 70F and mostly sunny. It was the worst of times: 20 MPH winds with gusts up to 45. I rode a big loop, which meant that 3/4 of the time I was either dealing with a vicious headwind or a treacherous crosswind. My total average speed was a bit disappointing. It wasn't that much higher than it needs to be to complete a brevet. It did give me the opportunity to HTFU. |
First ride of the year. And the first time EVER I've ridden in March.
But this has been a weird winter and the temp hit 65 in Buffalo today. So I took a short warmup jaunt to test my knee out. Last year, I tore my ACL, fractured my tibial plateau and tore my meniscus in a skiing accident. Last week - a year after the skiing accident - I was skiing in Mont Tremblant in Quebec. Today I was cycling in the Buffalo NY area. It's been a weird winter. In both cases, the knee held out - I'm looking forward to a nice long cycling season. |
Easy 13 miles. Last tandem ride before the Solvang Metric Century on Saturday. Yes, we're wimping out of the 100miles, but there is a short steep climb at 80 miles that killed us last year.
