Summer Kit! Including reflective road vest . . . Surrealistic day. Went for a short ride no metrics no camera on the Trek 1420 was chased by a little fast dog. But i had the wind to my back. On the way back the dog decided to chase me again. So here i am going down the middle of the lane when an 18 wheeler, in the left lane, passes the both of us. That is a first! (Walmart truck)

So i continue and turn off the main road onto my regular rout and two dogs begin to shadow me. it is about 2 miles to where i turn around and they were with me the whole way. So I call Animal Control and my son . My son delivers some leashes and picks up the bike while i wait for Animal Control.
A.C. arrives about two minutes after my son leaves. So here i am, in kit minus helmet, walking 4 miles home carrying dog leashes. Staying true to form i was buzz. About 10 miles riding and 4 miles of walking. I never had a dogs bond that fast to me before.

23½ miles today with a blustery wind. The wind wasn't too horrible until the last third of the ride...then it kicked my butt.

25.5 miles on the tandem. Mid-ride stop for brunch at a local cafe - preliminary celebration of my wife's "special" day, a combination of various other special days. Tomorrow, we go buy her a new trail saddle, not one of those cheap-o bicycle saddles, but an honest to goodness saddle fit for a horse. BTW, you think falling off a bicycle is bad - you would be amazed at how well the tuck and roll works when you've got a 1200 animal trying to fall on top of you.

Another wonderful day for late winter. It was 72º in town but I rode up on the BRP to over 6K' elevation. It was just short of an hour hill climb and then back down. I was able to ride in shorts but used arm warmers and added a vest for the descent. The shady sections are still quite cool. It was a good Z3 workout.

15 miles mostly on Mups as the weather was staring to turn, supposed to snow tonight into tomorrow morning, RATS!

Jamesw2 03-01-12 09:37 PM

About 13 miles tonight on a night ride to test lights. It is the defective people who cant see them

John_V 03-02-12 12:19 PM

Did my daily 30 mile ride at the MUP today. It started off nice with a overcast and suddenly turned into blue skies with a hot sun baking down on me. We have had almost no winter this year and I have been loving it.

Red Rider 03-02-12 03:39 PM

This is what I did today. Just didn't feel like fighting 20 mph winds and cold.

avmech 03-02-12 04:36 PM

13 on the trail this morning.

JimF22003 03-03-12 03:00 AM

Skipped out of work a little early to try to get the usual 32-mile MUP ride in before the rain was scheduled to come through.

Ugh, didn't make it. 58 degree overcast turned into 47 degrees and a downpour. No rain gear, and underdressed, and soaked to the bone.

Woohoo!

Ain't far but I go out, even in miserable weather, particularly if it turns stormy
while i'm away..
the socializing over pints don't drink themselves ..

2 rides today for a total of 25 miles. Terrible winds all day long at 20 mph with even higher wind gusts. I went to the MUP with my son who said he was definitely going to do at least 25 miles but wimped out at 15 and that cut my normal 30 mile ride short. Got home and the wife wanted to ride around the neighborhood, so off we went for a 5 mile ride. That's a short ride for her, but the winds did her in as well.

24.x miles today under overcast 50F skies with a 12 MPH NNE breeze. For some reason, it felt cooler than I expected. I was OK with a couple of layers on, but some nice bright sunshine would surely have helped. There were four of us on the ride, although two broke away about at the midpoint to take a slightly different route 'home'.

Nearly had a heart attack on the drive out to our riding area... While on the freeway, I looked in the rearview mirror to see my 6-week-old bike alternately bouncing / leaning back and forth in the (platform) rack on the rear of the minivan. Turned out the foam-covered 'hook' (that was -- I swear! -- tightly down against the top tube when I left the house) had somehow come off the TT, leaving the bike merely resting in the wheel "wells". After stopping on the side of the road, I checked for damage and saw none. The rims still appear to be true and it rode fine, so hopefully nothing was damaged.

I tightened the hook Extra Tight (TM) after that... :twitchy:

Very blustery day in the aftermath of the deadly tornados that ripped through the area yesterday (Louisville was unscathed). I took roads that I had had difficulty with on my DF. Not much problem on the bent, although I'm not setting any speed records. It was a bit of a confidence builder.

BikeWNC 03-03-12 04:08 PM

Got out for a breezy hilly 20 mile ride this afternoon after doing leg work in the gym this morning. It was the first day this year I have lifted then rode and I could feel it. My legs were cranky on the climbs.

CbadRider 03-03-12 04:33 PM

60 miles with 4000+ feet of climbing. I had trouble finishing the ride. I started working with a personal trainer this week and she worked my legs to death on Monday. After 40 miles today my legs were toast and I had to limp along for the rest of the ride.

MattinAZ 03-03-12 04:51 PM

Did my 21 mi daily.

little breeze helped to keep cool
I moved to Tucson recently, from east coast, I cant believe the nice weather here.

Come back with that in the summer! Every place has its season.

Did 69 miles today but the wind was just punishing. Always there and except for the first 15 miles, either in the face or a cross wind. The good part was the wind was only 10 to 15 mph and the bad was it was always there.

63.7 today, 51 on the club ride. Cool start, and was kind of windy, but warmed up to 61 by the end.

Road to campground on Friday, 45 miles, camped overnight then tried to get back home. Made 10 miles .
Bike me and gear at 340 + lbs. Not much sleep with the semi auto gunfire and all the motorcycles running around. Poor nutrition and fluid management.
Lesion: Get a tent i can get into without having to crawl on the ground go get into or out of . Find a different campground

Where did you camp? Mad Max State Forest?

Absolutely gorgeous day for a ride. Total of 41.5 miles total (out/back) on the MUP on our tandem. We experienced all modalities of MUP'ers, joggers, walkers, bicyclists, kids with training wheels, all manner of ages. Averaged 15.4 mph which is actually pretty decent given the number of times we had to slow to a crawl. When you're 400 lbs full-up you don't want to run into a 3 y/o.

This was a rest ride, start of taper for the Solvang 100k/100mi, whichever we choose to do.

JimF22003 03-04-12 05:16 AM

Had another good ride in the Maryland hills. 71 miles, nearly 6000 ft. of climbing:

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/154540256

Four pretty good climbs (Gapland in Burkittsville, Hoffmaster in harpers Ferry, Reno Monument!!!, and Mar-Lu) and lots of up and down. It was extremely windy, but I had a tailwind almost the entire last half of the ride, including some great "pushes" up some of the hills. The wind gods shown on me today :)

Gravity Aided 03-04-12 05:48 AM

14 miles, 37f and winds W 20 mph , including a run to grocery store.
