Another self-righteous recumbent rider here, but I did stop for every stop sign today - if there were any witnesses around.
Twelve-and-a-half miles in very nice sunny mid-40's breezy conditions. The plan was to go south into the wind and then come home (north) with a tailwind. That worked out nicely. |

Sunday got in a beautiful 75 mile ride with 6800 feet of climbing, in MD and riding up into Pennsylvania:
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/152958814 I was again following a cue sheet so I had no idea where I was going for the most part. The cue sheet sent me up to the top of the Pen Mar High Rock, where I took this pic. What a great overlook. There's a sign there that warns that there is "no hang gliding allowed without a permit from the county": http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i.../IMG_01561.jpg |
12 miles in 40 mph winds , plenty of people out on bikes , high 57 Rode downtown to see the new Railroad Station getting built .
|
25 miles with wind gusts up to 30mph and intermittent rain that broke up the ride.

23½ miles today.
|
Got in a really great 30 mile ride today. First since my cataract surgery, last Thursday. Awesome weather with mild to moderate headwinds. Just a great day for riding.
|
Wind was not as bad as the last several days, got 28 miles in this morning.
|
23½ miles today. It's amazing how much a headwind can influence mph, especially since I'm on a comfort in a more upright position.
|
Got out for a quick 30 min leg opener hill climb this afternoon. Wearing my summer kit at elevation in Feb. = awesome.

Exactly. I wore my summer kit for the first time today.

Well, I turned 50 today, so I celebrated with a 50 mile ride. I haven't done 50 in a few decades, been mostly doing 5s, 10s, 20s and 25s. Cruised across town (St Petersburg FL) and got on the Pinellas Trail. 22 miles in, my rear wheel started going ThunkaThunkaThunkaThunkaThunka...NOT good. Broken spoke, and the wheel was warping, smacking the brakes pretty hard. Fortunately, I had a multi tool along and backed off neighboring spokes to relieve some of the warp, and backed off the brakes so I could MOVE. The LAST 5 miles were HARD, as I turned into a 10-15 mph breeze head on. Started having leg cramps! Oh Joy!!!! Made it home. Guess I should have paced myself better!

Our non-winter continues, but who's complaining: Nine miles this evening in Quite OK mid-50's, dry, slightly breezy conditions. Can't pretend that I'm riding long miles, but am riding short rides regularly - 2012 mileage is over 300 miles. Highly unusual Winter miles for this Hoosier.
|
Did not ride. Traveling for work when it's 62 degrees outside SUCKS!!

Severe t-storms moving through the Ohio Valley, but if it clears up by about noontime, Katie bar the door.
|
Started riding just before sunrise to beat the rain. 23½ miles, decent time, rain drops started just as I pulled into my driveway.

Strangely, I did not see any other cyclists all morning. |

That was my plan too...until I got hung up taking care of some emails first thing in the morning! Managed to get on the road by 6:45AM, got in a nice 25 mile ride that actually ended with a tailwind for the first time in what seems like months. And still beat the rain.

Another daily 30 mile ride with moderate headwinds and warm temps. Tomorrow, I head north a ways to ride some rolling hills in preparation for the MS 150 coming up in April. Don't laugh northern people, we have our own definition for the term "rolling hills." :D

30 miles, working my way up to "50K" , which is what I need for a new bike ride for the St. Pady's Day Events here in Colorado Springs, CO. They've had "RUNS" for the runners for years, this will be the "first" bicycle related event, except the "actual parade", which you had to be in a "group/club" to ride a bicycle in. After the 50K ride, all entrants are welcomed to ride in the parade! :)

1 mile outdoors in the 45 mph winds . 106 outdoors total
9 miles indoor, 34 indoor total 140 for the month, not bad for February . |
This eventing: 7.5 mile round trip interrupted by a visit to the YMCA to use some of the weight machines. Very pleasant warmish temps although windy.

I set my PR for the Tucker Loop. It's not fast, but it's fast for me. It was aided by downhill winds. Uphill winds don't make me go slower than I usually go. Anyway, wore summer kit two days in a row in February! |
