48 or so miles riding through the havoc caused by Friday's storms. I was sooooore from yesterday's ride. Hopefully the legs will be back up to snuff soon.
Here's some of what I encountered. This is Wilson Rd. between Carters Run and Cannonball Gate, near Warrenton, VA. Yes, the road was closed, but I just hoofed it around the downage. Kind of challenging going through the bushes in my road shoes. Had to duck under the power lines. Hopefully they weren't hot... http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i.../IMG_01891.jpg |
I rode 33 mi on the Schuylkill River Trail near Valley Forge National park in southeast Pa. I started my ride an hour earlier than usual to try to beat the heat, and I am glad I did.

51 mile Cemetery Tour today starting and ending at the Courthouse in Martinsville. Rode past many cemeteries and had SAG stops in a couple. Scary fact: All who have lived in Morgan County have eventually died.

Did a 23 mile ride on our tandem with six other solos on Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island. Hot!
18-20 mph outgoing; knackered on way back. Legs wouldn't work! All gathered at one member's house for food and drinks while watching Stage 1 of the TdF. Go Wiggo! Now watching Spain thrash Italy in the European Football (that's soccer to N. Americans) Cup Final. |
An easy ride with the LBS. About 18 people showed up, it was smooth and fun, good conversation with some folks with whom we hadn't ridden in a while.
Now chillin' watching Stage 1. Just as a Sunday in July should be. |
Fairly easy 20 mile ride this morning after yesterdays 47 mile marathon. Muscles were a bit stiff but nobody drops you on a solo ride when you ease off. :D
|
Our band had a tiring show last night so today's 25 miles on the tandem were for recovery.
|
Hit the road for 50 today on the mountain bike. Caught in some rain and wasn't sure of the slicks so babied it down the hills--at first. Rain stopped and headwind took over. Finished hard right before home.
Watched the end of stage 1 while the wifey is at work.:thumb: She ain't a fan of it on tv |
Rode 33 early this morning - before the heat. I think I'm going to hit it early every day I can.
Thanks for the "Welcome Backs" up thread. Took the 44 mile Map My Ride Challenge today. I need to ride 544 miles in a little less than 23 days. I'm starting a few days late so I need to catch up. |

10 miles. Hot and humid. New front wheel holding up, brakes tweaked and working better. Cables re-routed so they cross behind the bars.
That puts me 4 miles ahead of where I need to be for July's goal. |
That should have been the 544 Mile Challenge

14 miles Sunday, no commuting this week , too hot when it's around 100 for me .
|
Another non rider Sunday, took a rest day for the end of the week in my diary. Nice meal I cooked on the grill and Monica fixed us some fresh corn on the cob. it was a restful and good day.

35½ early miles this morning--started at 5:30 AM.

37 on sat and if the humidity wasn't so bad I would not have minded the heat!

Wow, that's a big improvement. Whodathunkit? Maybe I should re-route my cables too!

Didn't get to ride yesterday but I got in a great 35 mile ride on the Savanna Trail, here in Illinois. One more week left up here before we return home to my daily 30+ mile rides. Some of these hills are killers to us flatland riders.

Had to take my wife to the doctor this morning so didn't get out till afternoon with some heat. Headed on the MUP to Goshen, NY and stopped for about an hour to watch the horse trotters at their historic track. It was the last day of their season and this track I believe is the only one in the US that does not allow betting. Oh, I also got in 27 miles and shooting for a big month.

Rode early yesterday, 2:30 P.M. it was 96 when I left to ride. I heard thunder and walked out to see a black cloud wall coming over so I got my kit on and checked the bike over so I could ride. The temp dropped 22*F during the ride as the T'storms came across. I stepped in the door as the bottom fell out of the black skies. That was some temp drop to feel while I was sweating from the starting temps. Pretty strong winds with the storm too.
Oh, Ride, I did ride didn't I; had a great ride but the strong head winds kicking up on the return mad that slower than I would have liked. Kept my cadence strong anyway and had a great ride (9/10 for my rating.) Bill |
35½ crack of dawn miles this morning--started at 5:30 AM.
|
12.4 @ 18.4 this morning before work. Had a headwind then a cross wind on the way out, then caught every traffic light red. It was a good workout, but the numbers dont reflect that.
|
36 miles on a windy summer morning.
