12.3 miles @ 19.8 ave this morning before work
|
20 miles. Felt good but felt last nights run.
|
Bravely rode to work today in spite of chance of isolated storms all day. Dry on the way in and dry/sunny on the way home this evening. 20 miles.
|
15 with wife @12avg then another 30 by myself @14avg. Lots of hills and wind, a wonderful day with my new fitness hybrid.
|
Another 30 mi commute on unpaved paths. Was nice out, looked like rain but didn't so I was happy.

20 miler with my wife. 11 minutes slower. I may do my ride solo then do a second with her so I can keep my workouts intense.
So today was wife's first twenty and she's pretty passive and is worried about cars. As we are in the first 5 miles of the ride a pick up truck comes by on a empty road and buzzes us. I was surprised as this road is designated for riding and has connecting routes with signs for biking. Everyone rides on that road. As he buzzed me he points to the multi purpose path. Then to my shock he pulls into driveway. Let's just say we exchanged some words as he got out of his truck and I stopped my bike. Ugly. |
Another twenty mile round trip Bike Commute day.
No opportunities for unpleasant discussions with motorists, thankfully. |

Rode up Trail Ridge Road in Estes Park CO., first attempt for me, made it in 2:08.xx I thought it was a pretty good result for me having been in the mountains a day and a half before the ride. All of my pre-ride cycling time was done at 900-1200' elevation. I did a 11.5 mile climb with 2500ft of climbing and then descended back down for a total of 23 miles. Great workout!!
|
Compared to some of the posts above I'm feeling like a little bit of a slacker. 20 miles tonight, but a measly 1200 ft of climbing. I'd better go back out and climb some hills ... not.

It was a bit different, was ^^^this^^^ earlier this year? This type of ride was a first for me, the hardest thing I had to deal with was the breathing, not being in the higher altitude conditions for much time was a challenge. |

32 miles Tuesday, 39 yesterday. It sure does suck having your job "eliminated" by upper management bean counters.

20 miler today. Felt very strong. The weather may have helped with it being cloudy and below 85 which is very unusual for North Carolina in August. No dustups with motorist like yesterday.
|
Haven't had a chance to post in a couple of days. Got in 44 miles on Tuesday morning, no ride yesterday waiting for the contractor to show up (which he never did) and 44 miles today. This morning's ride was pretty hot and humid even though the weatherman said it was suppose to cool off for a few days. He must have been talking about somewhere else. :D

I've found you just have to go slower. Did you descend back down into Estes Park? |

Quite nice 21 mile tandem ride this morning. Strange to be able to wear a long sleeve jersey and be comfortable in early August in Indiana.

I believe the ascent from Estes Park with the snow was June of 2011 when we were doing Bike Tour Colorado. An incredible day for sure. We waited at one of the gates for over an hour for the Park Service to decide if they should let us through. Only about 150 of 1500 made it all the way across. Most either stopped up top at the visitors center or turned around and rode back to Estes Park. It was very, very cold....you couldn't see after a few hundred more yards up the road. Wind was blowing sleet and snow sideways at 30 mph. The descent down towards Granby was extremely chilling as everything was pretty wet and temps were in the low 30's with wind.
I can relate to the breathing. I've found you just have to go slower. Did you descend back down into Estes Park? I didn't make the descent back down, the trip was a "family vacation", myself, wife and daughters and my two brothers and families. The plan was for my older brother and myself to set out, younger brother to follow in the car an hour behind, and the remainder of the "family" to follow an hour behind that to meet at the top. We hauled the bikes back on the car rack. My brother who set out with me, had made the trip a half dozen times before, i ended up leaving him behind as he started to cramp, he made it half way and was picked up by our younger brother. The two of them then shadowed me the remainder of the way, i surprised them, they weren't expecting me to make it |
20 miler. Felt very strong. Might have to add mileage for my daily ride. Might go from 20 to 30 a day.
|
Did a modified route at the MUP today for a very hot and humid 36 mile ride. Would have done more but I woke up tired and didn't want to push it as I have things to do this afternoon.
|
Did a "Le Tour de Bullhead" yesterday, totally forgetting my water bottles.:mad::mad::mad:
Fortunately, Wally World had a nice insulated one that does work in this environment.:D Also rode to our local Smiths (Kroger) yesterday at about 5:00 p.m. (about 105 out). Did a mini "Le Tour De Bullhead" today. |
