Pleasant 12 mile ride after work this evening. Flat with no hills. (Redundant, eh?)

macpolski 04-20-16 10:40 AM

A splendid Wednesday morning for a 19.2 mile jaunt with my wife. Love this weather and cycling.

John_V 04-20-16 11:44 AM

A little windy this morning but not as bad as some of the days this past week. I decided to do a "no shift" ride this morning for my 38 mile ride, since I haven't done one in a while. Between the wind and my sinuses, I think I should have picked another day to ride in one gear.

Beautiful spring day, shorts weather (but with a lite jacket). 24.1 @1:54 on the Allez. Gonna get colder as the week progresses, rain in the forecast.

Today was my 3rd workout of the week so kept it short and intense. Warmed up on a 3mi out and wind at my back. I then turned into the wind and started hammering my way back with intervals. Good little workout. Rest 2 and start another week on Saturday.

I took the Masi to work today. It's a sweet sweet bike.

Twelve miles Wednesday. Weather cleared up nicely. But legs felt like mush.

37 miles of cross and side winds this morning. It wasn't pretty! I need some .

Rode to where I work and back. About 14 mi.

Greybeard712 04-21-16 01:49 PM

Another day like yesterday. 24.2 @1:56 sunny miles on the Roubaix. Best week yet this year, 120 miles in only 5 days.

Another 37 mile ride today. Was hoping for a solo ride but my riding buddies were waiting for me at the park when I arrived. Very brisk ride today. I'm hoping it doesn't hinder my hilly ride tomorrow. :(

macpolski 04-22-16 11:18 AM

Good ride today 30.5 miles avg 14.6/hr Planned a route somewhat diagonal to the SW wind @15-20 mpg. Not bad.

canklecat 04-22-16 07:45 PM

Fifteen miles this evening. Then it occurred to me the hour I spent on hold this afternoon waiting to speak with a Social Security rep could have been spent bicycling, for another 15 miles. Oh, well, I'll know what to do next time the automated voice tells me a human will speak with me ASAP, or in an hour.

I had my first "non-event" group ride this morning which is kind of weird with the miles and years I've been riding. Nice group of people, nice route, but not really to my taste. The C bunch was crawling up the hills so I went on ahead, then missed my turn and took a short cut back to the route, and waited for them to catch up. It turned out to be the B riders or maybe A for that group, I don't know but after a couple of miles I got gapped at around 24 mph - close drafting wasn't on my agenda for today so I didn't try to catch back up. I waited again (didn't know the route) for the slower bunch but that pace was a little casual.

One weird moment came about when a ride leader rolled up beside me, casual get to know stuff, and then advised that I'd need to get clipless "if you want to keep up with those guys". And then went on about the nice bikes being given away at the upcoming Mayors Ride. WTF? It's not like they were blazing TT speeds. I just laughed it off and wondered to myself what he'd have gone on about had I brought the single speed. No big deal, but you just can't escape the silliness can you?

My first ride of the season: 15 flat miles to the boat launch and back. The bike is 100% and I'm looking forward to bringing my physical conditioning back up to snuff on the hills (and breezes) in the next few weeks.

OldsCOOL 04-23-16 01:18 PM

11 miles, 600ft, 50F, cold feet. But I was out there.

bfuser1509851 04-23-16 01:51 PM

10 miles, downtown and back with a bunch of coffee beans. Stopped to chat with family on the way. I've decided distance isn't as important as just being on the bike.

Also, I live in an urban area where parking is at a premium, but it's fairly easy to find a bike rack. Well, at least in the morning before the hipsters wake up. :)

Kindaslow 04-23-16 02:11 PM

Tough ride today. My body just did not feel right about an hour into MTBing, so I stopped after 1 1/2 hours. Went and got a regular soda, something I never do. I felt like my sugar was off, and that did the trick. I MTB a lot, so this was a little weird. But, I think my schedule this week and what is coming up next week threw my body off.

John_V 04-23-16 05:20 PM

Did the Coast 2 Coast Spring Ride in Clermont, FL where it's said to be the hilliest area of the state. Rode 52 miles with 2,645 feet of climbing. I no longer think that Florida is all that flat. :)
