Wrangled my wife into a 7-mile round trip Sunday, to pick up her Pokemon Cards (whatever those are) from Gamestop. I told her I'd go with, but only if we rode
Good ride, except the rain was chasing us home and finally caught us rolling into the parking lot. |
Beautiful day, 19 miles on the group (of two) ride on the Allez. Different route than my usual, some hills, gravity is still there. A little wind on my way home but not bad until after the ride. Ha!
2016: 1,307 Miles ♂ Total Miles: 10,904 Allez 528/2960 · Roubaix 533/3067 · Sirrus 131/2166 · Trike 134/1717 (Fun with English) Minute and minute (my newt) are spelled the same |
Rocked a windy 32mi out on the fog line. Sunny and 62. Here we go.

11 miles before work this morning.

19 miles total as a bike commuter today.
Rode/walked by indy's Circle on the way home where a crowd of mostly very young folks were gathering for a Sen. Sanders appearance. They looked even younger than I was when I attended a Gene Mcarthy speech long ago. |

Monday was one b*tch of a day at work, only 20 more work days until I retire after 40 years of teaching high school! Got home and rode bike hard about 20 miles around the neighborhood, waved at same neighbors several times on some blocks, got home with a cleared mind and much better mood. My goal as I near retirement is to ride 100+ miles per week in 2016, so far my average is closer to 150 per week. This is a late-in-life hobby for me, lost 45 lbs since I started riding, love it, can't even explain the joy that cycling gives me. Hope to do some longer touring when school starts back in the fall, and I won't have any place to be!

Sunday i rode 80 miles . I used spiz for food and never felt hungry . I did however experience Elevated Heart Rate the final 25 miles . I could not get it under 135 . In fact for most of the 25 miles it hovered around 145.
I need to add , I only drank around 1 gal of water the entire ride , and never needed to urinate . Do you think the lack of water alone caused the elevated heart rate ? If so what is the rule of thumb for water consumption ? thank you in advance for your thoughts . |
Back on the bike today. Did 30 solo miles and 8 miles with the wife this morning.

Love those roads closed to 'normal' traffic
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=519564 Ran across this guy twice and had to stop for a pic of his helmet cover. Crazy Baby!! http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=519565 Thought he looked 'old' until I reviewed a selfie. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=519566 |

Heart rate sometimes rises near the end of a longer than usual ride (cardiac drift), just as a matter of the aerobic fitness level. |
Yes I did ride, to work as usual. Here's a pic to prove it.

Love your Raleigh. That is such a sweet color combination. I'm kinda new at this, but is that a Gran Sport? They look so cool when set up for touring like that, with mudguards and a rack.

Intended to ride only 10 miles to the bike shop and back home, but was just feeling warmed up and rode 30 miles. Then a couple more after a nap for grocery shopping.
|
thank s for the reply , I just worry that a cardiac drift at 80 m , may mean a Bonk at a 200 m STP well before I get there .

Only 6miles yesterday on the Allez. Rode the 3 miles from my apartment to the bike path and felt something going clump in the back. The tire split. Rode very carefully home and ordered a new set of CST CZAR black and orange ($16.60x2). I never did swap the tires front to back (should have). I managed 1717.8 miles on that tire, it's been carrying a lot of weight (220+) for two years.
Nice day today (not quite shorts weather yet). 23.1 miles on the Roubaix. Overcast but very lite wind. 2016: 1,355 Miles ♂ Total Miles: 10,953 Allez 539/2966 · Roubaix 556/3089 · Sirrus 131/2166 · Trike 134/1717 Question: How many miles do you get out of a set of road bike tires (ie. 23C or 25C)? |
From yesterday:
http://users.rcn.com/jimmuller/pics/work2a.jpg Rode the same Gran Sport to work today, wore the same rain jacket as we were expecting rain again. Midway through the afternoon I decided it was appropriate to call my dentist and the office person said "...if you can get here by 4:30..." Yow, that meant doing one last task for work then riding like heck. The Gran Sport and I made it with 15 minutes to spare. When I left the dentist it was starting to rain. Then it rained harder. I was glad to be riding a bike with fenders and wearing a spiffy rain jacket. |
Ten miles rides after work yesterday and today. Cool and mostly dry this evening.
