20.8 miles today on the Tarmac SL. A bit chilly at 8AM. It will soon be time for a jacket and long fingered gloves.

13 Miles, the last 6 in heavy rain.

2 days in a row - 12 miles per day. 1st time on bike in awhile after disc injury.

Only two miles today, but 300+ feet of elevation gain in those two miles.

19 miles this evening, loafcycling safely below 13 mph, no danger of liquefying any internal organs. Pleasantly cool but muggy and buggy. Literally had to stop and wash the bugs outta my eyeballs.

I had the same experience this evening. First time riding after dark (with a new headlight) and was surprised at the amount of bugs hitting my face.
22 miles for the day. Most of it this morning.

The worst was along the Trinity River Trail this evening. The clouds of bugs were so thick I saw a couple of gals walking with their hair over their faces giggling about trying to screen out the bugs with their own hair. :roflmao2:

That's funny. Glad I'm still fast enough to outrun the skeeters. Man, they've been bad this year. I'm south of you in Ellis county.

40.7 miles on a cool day

Third straight day of rain from Hurricane Hermine and the forecast for the next several days doesn't look very promising. I'm starting to know how you guys up north feel when it snows. :(

Forty-some miles today, down along the Mississippi, testing out my new touring configuration:

http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2z9ccjln.png
Yes, the basket is gone; replaced by a SOMA Lucas front rack and some excellent Ostrich bags - the F104 up front, and the S2 out back.

This bike is currently my favorite, and now I can go even farther on it. I like this setup because I can carry all my photo gear along with whatever I need for an overnight trip, without hanging panniers off it. Here's another view:

I had to stop quickly to get this shot with the barge traffic in the background. The new set-up is almost as fast as the basket, but not quite.

21.2 miles on the new(er) Tarmac SL3. Perfect riding day with long sleeves, sunny and cool. The full finger gloves were a little much after 9:30AM, but I'll take it.

Nice setup. I replaced the uncomfortable flat bars on the Univega with more upright, slightly swept back bars. Much more comfortable now. Next step is to replace the old nuts and bolts that held the fenders and racks and put those back on so the bike will be ready for photo adventures this fall and winter.

Got a few hours of sunshine this morning and took advantage of it for a nice 36 mile ride before the rains started up again. Got everything loaded in the van and ready to head home as the downpour started. And now the sun is back out.

ButchA 09-03-16 11:49 AM

Got in a quick 8.8 mile ride before the rain started back up from the tropical storm. I also wanted to try something new, and put on a bright neon yellow reflective vest, and rode my old C&V '85 Fuji along Courthouse Rd, the other side of town from my house. I put my old Fuji in the back of my truck with a bungee cord for safety. I just prop it up on the wheel well in the bed of my pickup.

Inside the big parking lot of Rockwood Park. My son-in-law grew up playing little league in the park as a kid.

In the back lot of Super Radiator Coils (a company I used to work for). No, they are not an automobile radiator company. They manufacture huge heating and cooling transfer units - mainly the gigantic refrigeration units for supermarkets. I didn't work in the shop, as I was one of the I.T. guys, handling their big Unix server and order entry database programming.

22.1 miles today on the Tarmac SL. Climbed some long hills and discovered that gravity hasn't changed. The new 12-30 cassette works great.

25 miles with my brother this morning, very hot. wore me out

beechnutC23 09-03-16 07:48 PM

72.6 km to Lake Champlain and back, 598 m elevation. Flat ride for the first 40 km, then rolling hills and a few good climbs for the last 32 km. Smoked a couple of young guys maybe 20 years younger one one of those climbs. They also were on high-end road bikes. Felt really good :D

Since getting the new bike, in the last couple of weeks I've set tons of PRs especially in climbs.

I rode about 35 miles with my friend Ian today. We went from Cottage Grove, MN to Hudson, WI and back. Lots of hilly roads down along the St. Croix River. He was on his beautiful and well-ridden Raleigh Sprite 5-speed:

http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...pszcuxxchl.png

I was still on my "Roadsterized" Fuji Royale. These bikes look good together!

http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...psyyfhkaj2.png

We stopped for ice cream at a place called "Knoke's" in Hudson. That was so good we stopped at "Selma's" in Afton for more. Both places have fresh-made ice cream from local dairies. I'm pretty sure the calories burned weren't as many as those consumed today. But who cares, when those calories taste that good?

Those bikes, taken together, are high art. All the more so considering they get some nice long rides.

Today? Today I rode my 1983 Raleigh Super Course. I had to do some work on it after a recent fall- new brake levers, new bar tape. Did 52 miles on the club breakfast ride.
