12 miles - My rest ride day - alternate it with my 21 mile rides.
|
20 miles on the Tarmac SL. Cold this morning (mid 50s). Long pants and jacket, but tomorrow it's back to shorts and long sleeves. Got too warm today. Had to pedal pretty fast to keep up with my runny nose.

it became the nice path that it is today. Also many miles thru Seffner and Thonotasassa after work. Did a few tours of Davis Island, and countless miles in Pinellas County where I resided. Most Pinellas roads got too crowded, and I didn't like the Trail too much.......... |
Did a nice 38 mile solo ride today at the park. Much of the flooding has gone down but the creek and the footbridge is still closed. The police department's bike team was out there this morning doing their training. Neat to watch them do tactical cycling.

I seldom post in this thread anymore, but I had a really fun ride tonight, so, why not....
35 miles, including 25 in a club ride and the rest riding to and from the ride. The front of the club ride was faster than usual and I felt very energetic. It just felt nice that my work over the last few months has paid off. Rain threatened earlier, but it was a dry humid night in the mid 70s. Not ideal riding weather (someone said that the dew point was 70, with the actual temperature being 74 or so - that's humid), but it didn't interfere with the fun. It's getting dark earlier and earlier. The days are numbered for weekday evening club rides. |
Got in another great 38 mile ride with the gang today. Big difference in the water level at the park between today and yesterday. Looks as if they can open the footbridge to allow access to the other end since it no longer flooded out on the west end. Hopefully, I can get to the subdivision tomorrow and get back to my 25 mile laps.

19.6 miles in the sun! Solo, just me and the MUP.

Wednesday - 22 miles riding to and from work.
Today - scared by chances of storms so drove to work. Hope to get out for a ride when I get home - weather permitting. |
20.6 miles today on the (Aluminum) Allez. Fun bike. I've been setting a pretty high pace for myself these past couple of weeks. 16-18mph with occasional bursts of 21mph. I'd opt for longer rides but the only paths to where I need to end up are full of sticker bushes.

30 miles today.
Tried an old approach today. I went hard during warm up, like I used to. Theory was, the harder I warmed up, the harder I could go when I did warm up. Didn't work....I got darned tired about 17 miles in. Had to limp home, stopping 3x to rest..... Not real happy... This getting old is getting old. Probably rest tomorrow. |
14.5 miles after work. Man was it hot!!!

11 miles from Lake Louisa campground site before I met the guys at Hancock and Oakley Seaver then 68 miles of the upcoming Horrible Hundred ride and another 13 miles back to the campsite. Had the rocket launch going up at 7:05PM so I hopped on my wife's 7 speed Walmart Schwinn for a 3 mile ride to the campground entrance to view the rising rocket. BEAUTIFUL site watching the rocket rise up out of the low clouds then a ride to Lake Louisa and back to campsite to end a 100+ mile day.

15 miles this morning. Did I say morning? As in, 6 a.m.? I must be nuts. I'm not a morning person. But I was awake and bored, so off I went. Best I've felt in weeks, despite feeling achy all week. Felt like I was climbing the same hills in taller gears with less effort, although my actual overall speed was the same old 12 mph. But instead of feeling exhausted at the end I felt energized.
I must be nuts. I am not a morning guy. |
17.7 miles today on the Tarmac SL3. Went out at 7:30AM (brrrr) because of a late morning eye exam. Man there is a lot of traffic at that hour. I counted 126 cars in the right hand lane getting onto the I-80 (where I have to stop to cross) and about 30 more that got onto the freeway before I could count up to them. Ride a bike to work, people. Sheesh!

53 very nice miles this morning. Half at a comfortable 16-18 mph pace riding solo, the other half at a slower pace riding with my buddy Frankie.
|
Did another "Le Tour de Yard Sale" today. Stayed out until 11:30, red face to show for it. . .:lol:

Again chances of rain led to driving to work today. But, no rain when I got home so out on the ti long wheelbase 'bent for a 19 mile ride.
|
A moderately paced but really nice 40 miles this morning. The park was packed with both parking lots going into their overflow lots. Not much traffic in the subdivision this morning and that made the ride really enjoyable.

25 miles today with a friend who is recovering nicely fro a heart attack back in May.
I felt good after a rest day, but pace was slower too. |
22 miles even on the Tarmac SL. Went for shorts, sleeve covers, and fingerless gloves today. A little chilly at the start, but comfortable overall. Fall is coming.
The aluminum '05 Allez Sport is still my favorite, but this '06 Tarmac SL is way ahead of whatever's in 2nd place. You'd think it would be one of the other carbon fiber bikes, the '11 Roubaix or the '11 S-Works Tarmac but there's just something about this restored bike that fits. The only thing I have left to "restore" is a new SRAM chain, then it's done. 2016: 3,756 Miles ♂ Total Miles: 13,377 · Tarmac SL 509m The Lollipop was named after one of the most famous Racehorses in the early 1900s, Lolly Pop. |
Riding the 5 miles to the LBS this morning felt "not good" following the 104 miles with 4400' climbing on Thursday in Clermont. Wasn't sure how things would turn out on the 39 mile ride from the shop. Big group of 20 riders began to whittle down after 7 miles when the speed picked up. Legs came alive and things turned out fine. Ride ended with a group of 5 plus me. I added a few more miles for a total of 67 which turned out to be more than what I originally thought.
Six Gap Century with 11,200' climbing in 2 weeks from tomorrow. |
Set out to do my first 50 miler since pelvic and hip replacement revision surgery 13 weeks ago. Miscalculated the distance of the route and ended up with 56.5 miles with 1591 ft of climbing. Happy with the endurance now I have to work on getting my speed back.

12.5 miles First time i've rode in the afternoon all summer. Hot - Planning on doing a 25 miles but melted and turned back.
