5 mile training ride with my wife this morning. We are training for the Tour de Donut in Katy Texas on Nov. 6th.
|
15 mile commute to work on my #1 1979 Raleigh Competition GS.. Man, do I love that old steel!! ;)
|
20 miles this morning in 1 hour 12min.
|
26 miles, but nothing went as planned. I left, mid-day, hoping to do my 55 mile route. I received a phone call on my cell about 20 minutes into the ride. I was on-and-off-and-on the phone for about an hour. So I planned a 40 mile ride. Then a few rain-drops fell and I knew rain would become heavier, so I sprinted home.
The weather will be crap until Friday. I’m hoping for a nice weekend. |
18 miles with the first 6 mostly climbing, trying to meet up with the Tuesday group. My right foot popped out of the pedal, twice, the second time it did it I whacked my shin but good. No wearing shorts or skirts for a week or so - OUCH!! It was a good ride, though. Oh - I adjusted the pedal when I got home.

6 mile training ride with my wife this morning. Bring on the Tour de Donut!! :)

Wasn't going to ride today as it was supposed to rain, but good. Got up this morning and checked the weather, weather.com, and it was clearing up with only a 10% chance for the next 3 or 4 hours. Well, instead of a rest day, I went forth and rode my 20 miles. Winds were really light and, once more, I beat my best time. Today I did 20 miles in 1 hour 9 minutes 43 seconds, roughly 17.3mph overall avg, Woohoo!

26F this am. After my planks, stretches, bridges and pullups, I layered up to ride to the pool for a swim. It was 34F. I swam one hour and then got layered up again for a 1.5 hour relaxed ride. By now it was up to 42F.
Met my wife for lunch and it was almost 60F, then topped out a about 66F. Nothing like a 40 degree change in about 5 hours. :) It was a beautiful day to ride. I enjoy the 35F+ riding as long as there is not a lot of wind. |

10 miles on the double track access road alongside the Tenn-Tom Waterway in Peppertown MS. Bike if fubar so rode my wife's Trek 880 MB. No discomfort at all with her stock saddle so may have to "borrow" it. First time I've ridden in over a week. Didn't see any wildlife except for one hawk until I got back home and a doe with her two fawns crossed the road in front of me just before I turned into my driveway.

Did my 20 miles today but the wind was brutal. It was in the low-mid 50s but there was a 25+ consistent wind(by the James River it seemed to be reaching 30+) and I always seemed to be hitting it head on. One part of my ride is a small downhill where I can usually get between 20 to 22 mph--I couldn't even get past 12-13 mph which made the uphill, mostly wind blowing me, brutal. When the wind was on my side, I could feel the bike being blown sideways. Tomorrow supposed to be a bit more chilly. I think I'll wear my bib thermals and a long sleeve thermal underlayer under my long sleeve Jersy. I know it's not as cold as some are riding in right now, but this is the first cool/cold weather biking I've done...need to figure out what's comfortable. I should be getting a Pearl Izumi Softshell Elite Jacket soon in the mail from Amazon.com--preparation for the sub 40s.

10 mile training ride with the wife this morning. I'm really proud of her for getting up before dawn and braveing the cooler weather to get our miles in as we prepare for our next riding event.

Did 20 miles today with the temps in the upper 40s. Better than yesterday without the high winds, but it was still windy. Definitely taking tomorrow as a rest day....today was the 9th day in a row of biking.

Missed this thread for my first several return from surgeries rides this week. We had great weather this afternoon but a slight headwind riding north. Thank goodness I can ride again.

Monday, 2 riders 100 miles.
Tuesday, 5 riders, windy, 15 miles for me. Thursday, 5 riders, 100 miles. |
27 miles, lots of sand along the Lake-front bike path from earlier 60 mph winds and 20 ft waves. It was like a CX course. Good weather for a change today.

It's rained much here this week - finally a dry and sunny day today! Rode to and from work for 19.5miles. 50,000 FFA kids visiting downtown Indy this week but I didn't run over any as I rode through the city center both ways.

Wasn't today, but just a few days ago, plummeting down the Death Road in Bolivia. Cool temps, fog, heavy rain, steep downhills, on a tiny path!!! Perfect recipe for disaster, luckily we didn't have any in our group. Highly recommended. I used the tour company Gravity Bolivia. Not an ad for them, but they were very accommodating. Myself and a crazy Irishman, went as fast as we could with the front guide. The rear was brought up by a gentleman from England, that was afraid of heights....Yes...afraid of heights.. Wronggggg place for him to be, but he did great.

Hammerfest today. My fast riding friend purchased a 2012, new-generation, Cervelo S5. It was its first substantial ride. We both were out for speed. 75 miles in 4 hours 3 minutes. That includes some stop-n-go urban riding that kept the pace down.
Sunny, 43f at the beginning of the ride, 60F+ at the end, 10 mph headwind on the last half of the ride. |
About a 15 mile training ride today.
|
18 miles this afternoon. A bit cool today, 53 degrees and windy!!! Still, it was a great ride!

I had a very nice 61 mile ride today in the beautiful farm and forest lands west of Eugene. It has been a very nice week in Oregon, the maple trees are turning, no rain, so I rode 208 miles for the week.

Cool weather has hit the southeast so did my regular 33 mile ride wearing arm and knee warmers, base layer undershirt, smartwool socks, and full finger gloves.
April can't get here soon enough for me. |
