I haven't been posting much lately. Nothing traumatic (OK, maybe when I accidently deleted 21,345 photos was traumatic (I got them back)). But we have been getting some rides in.
I rode my age (62) for the first time this year. There will be more.

I figure I'm fairly close to the century mark. I started riding again around 1/06/10 after 30 + years of no riding. Trying to ride daily but usually only manage 4 days a week getting out there. So lets just say about 20 days total (that sure seems like a short time) but I'm having fun and getting stronger every ride.
No computer on the bike yet, although I'm going to pick one up this weekend along with a set of bar ends and a rearview mirror. I'm guessing my overall average is probably about 3.5 to 4 miles per ride. I know one of my usual routes around the area is about 2.5 miles and another is 4.5 miles, and I think one time I did 7 miles on my Trek Navigator 2.0 I had before I got the new 7200. If I continue on my weelky schedule, I should be over the century mark this month for sure.
Then I'll celebrate by doing a pie run

35.6 miles with temp at 17* at start and 27* when I pulled to the driveway. Nice day outside with the sun shining all morning. Need few more days like today for more riding.

Still too much snow and ice on roads here in NJ to ride safely. I went to spin class instead. Got in late for one and did 30 min. warm-up. In the following session I got in 50 min., 317 watt avg. power, and about 950 cals. I really like our Keiser spin bikes with power estimate function. The action is much more smooth and consistent than the Schwinn spin bikes we had previously.

Yes, finally got off the trainer and out into the real world. Only 12 miles but still enjoyable. Decided to take advantage of the dry roads here in Maine
and braved the 30+ degree temps.

About 20 miles. The web reported 11f as I went out the door, it did warm up quickly.

3 miles on the road today. Made sure I had a route without ice/slush. wow............but was fun.
Little riding lately. Averaging 20-30 minutes on the trainer every couple of days, which is much better than nothing.

February 14, yes, Finally after 6 days of no go.
Temp in the low 50s when I left, a bit outside my comfort level but I had to get out, I thought it would warm up but it didn't. Mid 50s when I got back today, no wind to speak of . Got home about 5:00 pm. It was a beautiful Fl day except for the temp.

Roads still a mess, and my winter bike is being held hostage in the shop. Went to spin class again and got 1000 cals. in 60 min. I was getting really close to 1000 at the end, and had to destroy myself to hit 1000 right at 60 min. I was a bit fatigued from yesterday, and today, I wasn't under one of the ceiling fans. It makes a huge difference in ability to generate power if you can't dissipate heat. Even after I'd cooled down and took a shower, I was still perspiring when I walked outside.
Although I like riding outside much more than spin class, I think I got in a much better workout inside, as compared to tiptoeing around the snow and ice on my bike today.

50 miles in 51F and sunny skies with a bit of wind. Hard to believe everything was covered in 4 inches of snow yesterday morning. Just a few shady spots with a little snow left today.
I tried out some small panniers on the Casseroll. Plenty of room to carry extra water, snacks and an extra layer of clothes for when the sun got low and the air got cooler. The bike with all the add-ons is a bit heavy for quick climbing, but at a relaxed pace it really soaks up the miles.

77 miles today-gorgeous day to ride. Temps in the low to mid 40's with a good breeze out of the west. I really appreciate my wife letting me spend 4 1/2 hours out riding!

I didn't mean to imply it was my first "rode my age". My MEDIAN ride last year was 50 miles and I did several over 62 miles, including 7 centuries. It's mostly because the group I ride with (within my bike club) rides MWF, with Mondays being the long ride, Wednesdays 50+ and Fridays 40-50.

40 miles in the rain Saturday, on the "rain bike." Today, took the "summer bike" out during a dry spell, and it started pouring rain about an hour into the ride. Did about 25 miles, most of the last part was in the rain.

Don't mince words
55 miles, over 5000' of climbing, in absolutely gorgeous weather. We haven't done a hilly ride in quite a while, and this turned into a sufferfest, but we managed just fine. Post a few pics here
One of our infrequent non-tandem rides, but still enjoyed riding with my Valentine.

February 15, yes, What a beautiful day.
Temp in the low 40s when I left at 9 this morning. Rode about 15.5 miles to my meeting with The Parks and recreation Dept. High 60s when I got back today, Wind out of the SSW at 15mph on the 15 mile ride home. But my meeting went so well I didn't seem to mind the wind. Got home about 2:30 pm. It was a beautiful Fl day.
