Just an hour on the hotel spin bike as today is a travel day. The previous two were 38 mile rides from Oistins to Speightstown and back. 32 degrees C and 85 % RH. Thank goodness for the wind.

41.10 miles today on the Tour Easy. Temp was in the mid 50's except within a mile or so of the lake. It's amazing what a cooling effect a 4 mph breeze can have coming off of 395 cubic miles of 40* water!

The sun was shining, the drivers were courteous and respectful, fellow cyclists were verbally friendly...all in all, it was a great ride. I even managed to swing by the post office to mail some bills and stopped for a hot lunch at an old haunt about 30 miles into the ride where I bumped into some old friends that I haven't seen in years.

Wildlife count.....9 deer and 8 were at one time when they all ran across me within 20 feet!

I went on my first group-ride of the year last night. My younger and stronger group-ride friends help me find new levels of cycling performance. I hit 168 bpm on my heart rate monitor last night. We were holding a 25+ mph pace without any assistance from a slope or tailwind.

The ride started at 6:30pm and I got home at 8:30pm. Watching the sun set and enjoying the quiet of nightfall added to the pleasure of the ride.

First time formal hill repeats on a bike. Whew, that's tough, but it was a nice day in Vancouver so better than indoor trainer workouts.

"My mother used to say HTFU when I asked for help with my spelling and math." You really need to move to LA. I have couple of movie producers to whom I can introduce you. You can hang out at the Brentwood Starbucks with your laptop and work on your scripts.

This morning I rode the Volae as I intended to swing by the store and pick up some groceries on the homeward leg (big milk crate mounted on my rear rack). The ride was only 16.5 miles but the sun was out and traffic was light.

I went back out after lunch on the Tour Easy. It quickly turned from sunny to overcast and I ended up sprinting for home when a rain shower popped up. I had my camera with me and didn't want to risk getting it wet. Only 15.28 miles after lunch.

EDIT: The weather cleared up and I got in a 10 mile Ice Cream Run after Dinner. I stopped to help a gentleman and his little girl on my way home. She was riding along on her bike as he walked the family pet Huskie. She had fallen and jammed her chain between the big ring and the chain retention ring. It took me holding her bike up in the air and him stomping on the chain to free it.

Down side, during the short time we worked on her bike, the Huskie knocked over my Tour Easy ! I almost had a heart attack! Fortunately it appears the only damage is a scraped up edge on my MirorCycle mirror. I think I can resolve it with a piece of emory cloth. The important thing is...we both rode away and everyone was happy. More here...https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...Tour-Easy-Down!!

42.3 miles this morning. Could have done an easy 50 mile plus if daughter didn't call me and asked to meet her for lunch as she was also bringing some of my stuff. The weather was beautiful with a temp at the start in the low 60's but it's supposed to change starting tomorrow.

Left the house at dawn in a reletively calm 58*F. Three and a half miles later I was in the local diner enjoying a nice warm bowl of oatmeal and raisins with plenty of fresh hot coffee. Afterwards I must have really been feeling my oats as I struck out along the lake shore in the opposite direction of home.

I finally did arrive back at home around mid morning in 69*F temps with a 16mph wind at my back. Round trip total was 30.36 miles.

April 16, 22+ miles today, it was another great Florida day, partly cloudy 70/77* weather, and mild wind from the East @ 13. I don't like to do less than 30 per ride but I ran into to many people and spent to much time talking this afternoon. I am glad I did 50+ yesterday to help even things out.

22.4 miles today

2309 miles this year
72 ride days TY vs 66 ride days LY
5190 miles needed to hit 2010 goal (7500 miles)
I am @ 30% of goal. I need to be @ 33% (2500 miles) by the end of April

Rode 26 miles on the BRP with 2600' of climbing. It was a treat to ride in my summer kit at 5-6000'. I had a slow 1:50 ride time with dead legs today.

Our usual ride leader was gone, so I got to lead 10 riders a 40 miler today. Tradition has it that our Friday rides tend to be easier. Here we are cruising.

I'm starting to ramp up my riding a bit, getting ready for AIDS/LifeCycle in June. I have ridden 4 days in a row, averaging 40 miles each ride. I may ride tomorrow, but shorter.

Plus, today is my birthday (63). I didn't try a birthday ride, though. I have already ridden my age or better 7 times this year, so it's not a biggie for me. Besides, we have a 65-miler planned for next Tuesday, weather permitting.

No ride to day. Caught a nasty cold the other day. The trouble with being in reasonably good health is that it seems like such an affront when you get sick. Can't even remember the last time I had a cold; certainly a year or more. Perhaps next week will be better.

1st ride in 9 days. I hate/love that I'm too busy to ride, or it's raining sideways. 35 mi. in 2 hrs., flat, 5-10 mph headwinds, avg. 17.4 mph. Very happy just to get out and ride w/o leg warmers and long-fingered gloves. I love you, Spring.

Rode 36 miles yesterday, 35 today. Windy yesterday as well as today(Friday). 65 to 70 degrees and sunny. Fought a 12 to 20mph headwind out, reaped the wind on the return, Avg 22 mph for 10 miles. Now my hammies are barking. Rest tomorrow. Riding the SoCal riverbeds is fun. Hope to start riding the hills later in the year.

Great ride yesterday - a couple of hours on my utility roadie as my Lemond is getting revamped in the shop. Birds singing, temp in 40's - low 50's. Perfect riding weather except for a bit of wind.
