What's the difference between Endurance and Aerobic capacity?

I debated a bit before putting both those down. I see this difference:

Aerobic capacity - how muh ability the individual has for high capacity activities such as sprints, running the 100 or 440, etc. BUt, perhaps, that is better described as anaerobic capacity - which may be the better statement.

Endurance - doing a full marathon, for example, or a century.

That makes more sense to me. I like your list if #4 is Anaerobic capacity.

The problem with anaerobic capacity is that, theoretically, anaerobic capacity only lasts 2-3 minutes for most, and not much longer for others.

"Web definitions
  • is a runner's maximum ability to run very fast … beyond VO2max where all additional energy to run faster than vVO2max is generated anaerobically. Runners can sustain such fast paces for only a few minutes."

Does tearing down part of a brick and concrete block retaining wall qualify? Put in 2 hours after work on what is going to be a long job. Also, does an exercise in frustration count? Put some stuff on CL. Guy shows up to look at a set of Rolf wheels. Ad clearly states Shimano hub 8/9/10. Proceeds to tell me he is building a single speed bike.

That's true, but you can train yourself to handle it better/longer -- the body becomes more efficient, I suppose. Just like anything else, such as strength, flexibility and endurance, there is a limit to improvement.

Of course, depending on your goals, you may not need to work in your anaerobic zone. It interests me though.

This morning I did a full leg workout. Leg Squats, with both the Smith Machine and a freeweight barbell. Leg extensions, forward, backward, toe raises, and I also included some pushups and light ab work..I did 4 sets of 30..Time, 1 hour 15 minutes.

Trying to build back up. Arthritis is banging me hard in my left arm. I have found out from experience when the arthiritis hits, you got to fight it. Otherwise, it will take over. Then we talking about pain, and physical activity cut way down..I will have none of that!!

Real slow day at the gym today. Kind of like dragging. However, I don't want to lose the habit of working out at least 6 days a week. So, I fired up the motorcycle, and flew to the gym. I did an arm and back workout. Curls, tricep extensions, bent over rows, hack lifts, lots of free weight stuff, and then moved to the machines for a bit. Then fiinished it with some real tight ab work.. Lasted about 40 minutes. The main point is, I got it in.

You know I am hating on you big time!!

Not only are you doing more reps than me, you weigh more than I do, which makes your reps stand out even more..

I only weigh 135 lbs.. I am sure you are adding at least 50 lbs to that. So, each rep you got to carry 5 more lbs..

Gotta give it to you, you are raising the bar...

Right now, arthiritis is working on my left arm.. No excuse...

I was going to lay low today, after seeing this, going to the gym to do a leg workout.

That will give me tomorrow to work hard on chest, arms and do pushups..

In the meantime, you are my motivation...

Rest is really the key, if you want increase. Got to give time for those muscles to repair themselves, IMHO - and in lots of other folks HO's!

Well, the way you are going, you will make it 50 or less in short order. I am climbing up a little, maybe at 136 now.

I think I am too lazy to enter something every day, so... last week I ran a total of 29 miles, did 30 pull ups, 30 dips, 150 sit ups and 170 push ups.

I post up to keep myself into it. I have seen a lot of peeps fall out of it, and never come back.. I plan on going out the right way. And that is being fit and having fun..

Now, if your counts is accurate, and continuous, that means, no breaks, then you be about the fittest around here, but a long shot too..

You be the man..

Didn't do my regular morning trip to the gym, instead, when I got home from work, and changed clothes and headed right to the gym. I did all upper body, with free weights..Did one set of 40 pushups.. My strength is coming back in my left arm. Arthiritis was hitting my left arm bad. My workout lasted a hour and a half. I would have stayed longer but the wiffee would be MAD, so I do what I can to keep the peace.. Might skip tomorrow..

Morning ritual (stretching, plank, etc.) and walking yesterday. My wife continues to experience a lot of pain, and my support is needed a LOT.

Woke up quite early this am, as my tennis elbow is acting up. I failed to do my TE exercises yesterday, and will do them today. Raining hard outside - first real rain in months, so I will swim this am.

I dropped one of my laptops, and have spent hours getting it to work again. Had to reinstall windows with a complete new disc format, and now have to find and install all the drivers. Dell does not make it easy to do that. One driver at a time (there are 76 possibilities). . You would think they would have software that would inspect your computer and download automatically just what you need.

I could not get it onto the internet, until I finally installed an old USB internet device. Also have to go through a complete windows update.

Mowed the yard Sunday, then went over it with a grass whip to get all the high stalks that the mower rolled over.
