No, sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that my numbers were a 1 session deal. Those were over the 5 days, Monday through Friday.

Each of those days I do 6 dips, 6 pull ups and 30 sit ups. Three days a week I do 30 push ups, and two days I do 40 push ups. My running mileage varies from day to day.

So no work out but lost 6lbs this week- knee is killing me and my hands are about twice the size they should be with some swelling around the knuckles. Good news is that the Abs are still there- I can feel the pain of them and the back is stronger. Bad news is that we now have to dig the trench- 2ft x 4ft x 40ft for the drainage.
Uhhh yeah, that would classify as exercise. I am a Civil/Structural Engineer and that is 2400 cubic feet of clay that can easily go 100+ pounds/cubic foot, or approaching a quarter million pounds. That is 7 large dump truck loads. Hope you had help!

Here's my non cycling workout for the day. After skiing 63 days this season, snow is always welcome at my place

There might be just enough of the white stuff for one last day of snowshoeing.

Travelers to Colorado are often surprised (and chagrined) to find heavy snow in May, June, July, August and September, especially on the high passes.

I dropped one of my laptops, and have spent hours getting it to work again. Had to reinstall windows with a complete new disc format, and now have to find and install all the drivers. Dell does not make it easy to do that. One driver at a time (there are 76 possibilities). . You would think they would have software that would inspect your computer and download automatically just what you need.

I could not get it onto the internet, until I finally installed an old USB internet device. Also have to go through a complete windows update.
Keep working that elbow, gentle, but work it. This is big time conincidence here. I got one laptop that is about 2 or more years old. It is on it last leg, but I like using it. Finally it went out, just like your.. In my work, we use images to put computers back to where they were.. Anyway, none of the images worked. So, just like you, had to install windows from scratch, then get the drivers..Finally, I get all the drivers and it is working nicely. Then all of a sudden the wireless connect goes away. I check everything, no workee. I got another notebook that is working but keeps rebooting.. They both gateways, going to snatch the hard drive out of the one that lost the wireless, stick it( if it fits)in the one that keeps rebooting, install windows, and hope that I will come out with one that works..

On your Dell, if you put in the service code, I think it will tell you the ones you need.

Anyway, luck to both of us on this, and hope it gets better for your wife..

I got it working, downloading drivers like crazy. Screen is appropriate and wi-fi is working. The service code did not help.

Yep. I got out of bed and took out the trash. Doesn't seem like much but since my fall on the ice a month ago I'm mainly struggling to move at all. Of course it probably didn't help that I raked our yard Sunday and Monday evening led a Training Ride for the Tour de Cure. Then toted some stuff as we get stuff back in the house squared away after new paint and floor covering.

Yesterday I too was struggling with a computer problem. I couldn't log in to Online Banking with Bank of America. Without boring with the details. I was turned over to the "Tech Support Manager". His suggestion was that I download a different browser than the Internet Explorer installed on this computer. I pointed out that I could sign in and use online banking with all my other banks and had no trouble with any other web site. He repeated that I needed to download another browser that I would use just for them. That is downright silly and unhelpful.

I asked him how Bank of America used Flash. I have mine buttoned down and maybe they didn't like that. His answer was that they didn't use Flash at all. Again very unhelpful.

Fixed the problem myself. Flash had become corrupted and IE wouldn't recognize it was installed. Proof that the "Tech Support Manager" was pretty ignorant in addition to not being customer oriented.

The only reason I won't burn my card is because the annual fee is much less than the value of the airline companion fare that comes with it.

Dam, it seems like I am in on everything.. I got a Bankofamerica account too, and the site was down for a couple hours a day or two ago..

Some of the tech support people are on the ball, and some will tell you the moon is made of cheese, and will expect you to go get your crackers..

Bikes: 2011 ICE Sprint Special Edition

Sleet, Snow, Gropple, 40-50mph winds and low 40's for temps, alas no riding. Did put 15 miles (1hr) on the recumbent resistance trainer, thank goodness for the Ipod!

Awesome leg workout this morning. Instead of free weight squats, I hit the smith machine, leg press machine, hack press machine, leg extension machine (foward & backword), and both standing and sitting toe-raises. I felt strong. I did a solid hour..

Finished it with some light ab work, and one set of 50 pushups.. Watch out DnverFox, the arthiritis in my left arm is going away... Around Sat or Sunday, I am going to go for 60...

Also, I noticed I am going further and faster on the bikes. It has got to be a combination of more ride time, and my leg workouts. Anyway, going to push both up a notch or two...

I don't know how you guys do 50 push ups and more.

I did my usual for the week: 30 pull ups, 30 dips, 150 sit ups and 170 push ups. Ran 20.5 miles.

Swimming Improvement!!

It's nice to see improvement when one is in their 70's.

I did not really start swimming until December, 2008, when I was 69. While I was always comfortable in the water, I had never done a "lap" or even 1/2 a lap. Since then I have been diligently going to the pool 3-4 times per week.

I took a swimming lesson, as I was not breathing correctly, and needed some stroke coaching.

Most folks who are not swimmers are amazed at how much effort is required to get from one ond of 1 25 (meter or yard) pool, particularly for the crawl.. Even folks who are very fit from running and/or bicycling. I have had numerous folks who were totally surprised at the exhaustion and effort it took. You need to initiate a whole lot of different muscles, get arteries, arterioles and capillaries built up in those muscles, etc.

It has taken me a long time (almost 2.5 years) to be able to get from one side to the other easily.

Well, today, I was able to swim five laps (a lap is back and forth, or in my case 50 yards) without stoipping, a MAJOR increase for me.

Now, if you have been a swimmer all your life, you won't appreciate this much. But for those of us starting when others are starting to end things it is different and I am proud of myelf.

Hang with us, and we have you banging out 60+ pushups!!

It all starts with ONE REPETITION!! Just one. I know you can do ONE!! After that, you keep at it, Do that ONE, EVERY OTHER DAY. Each week you add one more repetitions on. Second week, you start doing two repetitions, 3rd week, three, and right on up the ladder. Trust me it works..

Let me fully warn you, when you get to doing over 30, and getting close to 40, you cannot ever exceed what DnvrFox and I are doing at anytime!! Or you will be put on the S-List!!

Full body workout in preparation for leaving Monday morning EARLY to catch a flight to NY, where we will be doing a 9 might cruise.

Stretching, planks, bridges, elbow twist, puchups - no record - just 45 - squats, pull-overs, dips (3 x 20), pullovers, lat exercises, pecs, back, barbell - now at 170 lbs, and typing on the computer.

I will not be able to do a lot on the cruise - the workout areas are dominated by the young folks, it is hard to work in. I will do a lot of swimming in the ship's pools.

Exactly. It is young guys like you (50) who keep old guys like me (71) out of the workout room.

I do a LOT of swimming on the cruise ships, and we (my wife and I) are signed up for a ride in Bar Harbor, ME. Not a fan of spinning, so probably will avoid that in favor of the swimming pool.

Schlepped some bags of mulch to the far end of the house and spread it around. Planted 4 tomato plants. Carried my lighter-duty ladder to the far end of the house and cleaned the maple tree helicopters out of the gutter. (I have a lighter-duty ladder for gutters and a heavier-duty one for actually climbing onto the roof.) I promise to do some stretching and pushups later this evening.

I think I got it right, at first, I thouht he was doing 170 in a set! Wow! But, he explained that was a acumilation of what he been doing all week.

Maybe 15 or 20 a day, but there weren't one right after another.. He commented on how we are doing 40+ in one set, and that is where I was explaining to him, that he can do the same..Just started increasing the reps everyweek.. Didn't mean to put the "I know you can do one rep" in there!

What you up to now? You got pass 60?? Please say NO!!
