Still in Grand Junction.
Seeking miles.
Park near I-70 exit, ride 30+miles gentle climb, turn around = into headwind but gently down.
Low traffic, sunshine and upper 60f degrees.

Small town western mountains, steep roofs.

Parked less than a mile from I-70

Open road, river canyon on a Scenic Byway. Cycling life in western USA doesn’t get any better than this. Ride On! And lots of moto-bikers/trikers on these roads this Saturday.

Bit of a steep climb out of Collbran but a nice view of the little place.

I usually try and ride to here once a year. 50 miles from the house by bike.

This used to be an old service station many years ago but was converted into a restaurant.

Really tasty but way too heavy for the 50 miles back. It was a warmer and very humid day.

^ That place looks awesome!
We did an extensive ride yesterday and for the first time, and afterwards, had my first trip to the Farmer's Market in LA. Brazilian BBQ FTW.

Family-time stuff limited my riding hours most days. Hence the MUPs.
FIL needed assistance with minor downsizing + house maintenance.
*besides I climb like a slug.

QUOTE=k0guz;20915718]Welcome to our part of Colorado. There's lots to see on your road bike, particularly north of Grand Junction and east of Fruita.[/QUOTE]
Been coming since the mid90s to visit wife’s parents. Mesa initially, then a downsize to eastern GJ. Dad refuses to leave since Mom passed, so we (my wife mostly) supports him from afar, as does his son in Tampa FL. Gives me a cycling base for great rides some years. But I have only been a son-in-law for 35 years, so we’re still getting to know each other, at times.

Extended my commute home last night ... oy, it was nice to get out. I'm glad summer is coming!

This is my favorite time of year in the south. The air is perfumed with ligustrum and honeysuckle, butterflies everywhere and it isn't hot yet.
Today I didn't feel like riding but dragged myself out of the house, started just before sunset and rode 30 miles with lights. It was one of those rides you don't want to do but half way though you are so glad you did.

The start & finish.

Pavement ends!

I came up on the road on the right. I continued to climb for about 4 more miles.

Pretty fast black snake

Nice wall

Very nice split rail fence with irises.

Clever! At least enough for me to stop and take a photo.

Very old home place.

Sense of humor???
Perfect day to kick up some gravel and dust on some hilly roads in the NC mountains. You know you’re slow when a black snake passes you!!!
