Ha ha, that's great!
I went there so many times as a kid. Teddy would have loved to ride a modern boneshaker through the woods.
I think he would have been pleased at your photo...

Beat the heat on a smokey day by curtis corlew, on Flickr
It's supposed to be 111 today. We rode early. The smoke from fires in Northern California really made the light interesting.
Enjoy this scene, because there will a housing development here on Empire Mine Road if developers get their way, and the always do in Antioch.

Descending a beautiful road is like making love to a beautiful woman. You don't rush it. You take your time and savor every supple curve, every angle and every shadow.

It's Nine Mile Canyon Road. It goes from Pearsonville over Sherman Pass (9200 feet) to Lake Isabella in the Southern Sierra.
Great ride ... I'll try to post a ride report later.
The descent was beautiful. I stopped so many times on the way down, my buds thought I had flatted or crashed. I just wanted it to last as long as possible.

Authentic southern cooking and locally famous but Doug took Labor Day off. The interior ambiance and decor matches the exterior to a T. The sweet potato casserole is pretty good if you can find a parking spot.
Bring Lipitor.
