She got this basket;
https://www.nantucketbikebaskets.com/...emart&Itemid=3

Would she prefer a larger or small size? To answer that you have to understand my wife, when we travel she is of the mind to bring everything we own with her. I can get by for a long weekend with a smal duffle bag, she on the other hand will fill atleast one suitcase, and her gym bag, and a tote bag, and a toiletry bag, and......
So, she would prefer a larger basket than the one she has.

Best wishes for your son, and I hope you find the trip to Boston refreshing.

Personally, I’m a mileage junkie with a need to know. While I love to ride, it’s usually goal-directed. Nonetheless, here in Boston we have a ride-sharing system with leisurely riders in mind, called Hubways, so you only need to bring your road bike. To paraphrase an old Lenny Bruce routine though, if bicycles were women, a Hubway bike would be Sophie Tucker, and your Trek would be Lena Horne.

You'll get over it! I hear this from people but really, isn't the point to raise fine independent young people who can thrive on their own? I'm glad the ties will always remain but I'd feel way more downhearted if my 'little birds' hadn't flown the nest! I love hearing about their adventures (including riding ones) and trying to only offer needed advice that actually stands a chance of being followed (rare occasions indeed!). And your kids will like to hear about your activities - especially if they involve blueberry picking with the concomitant pie.

Hope you enjoy your new bike.

Very coo bike and I think we might all be a bit better off by not installing an odometer on at least one of our bikes, just to ride and have fun, which is what its all about anyway. Good choice and happy berry pickin.

Nice bike. Only one I can think of that near it is the Electra Amsterdam.
Your son is a college grad and going to boot camp? Are you sure it isn't Officer Candidate School?

Thanks for the post! I do understand that the best possible outcome of parenthood is to have raised healthy, independent, and self-sufficient children and I understand he is living his dream. However the maternal part of my brain can't help screaming, "Thet Ay Foce got my baybay!!!"

Thank you. The avatar is the work of my other son. He took a photo of me and "Roy Lichtenstein-ed" it. You should see the family portrait he did for my Christmas gift!

Miss K the bike is quite beutiful. Even more so with you on it. Looks like a real fun get around bike. It just begs for a basket in the front.

I will add my heart felt congrats on you're son's choice. My neighbor's son has made the Marines his lif'es choice. I'm proud of him. I'm proud of you're son. I truly respect all who serve my country.

Thank you for your kind words, most especially for your remarks about my son. He called me tonight and seems to be acclimating well. That made me very happy!

And if it rains tomorrow as forecasted, I will be out purchasing that basket.
Thank you, again.

Yes, Officer Training School is a commissioned officer program of the Air Force. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
When he finishes his nine week program he will graduate as a Second Lieutenant. I can't wait to see him in that uniform!

I think a wicker fishing creel will look great as a basket, the hinged closing top will be handy, and the customary hole (through which the fish is slid) lets you carry a wine bottle upright. Can't link a picture from this iPhone but google up some images.

Always exciting to get a new ride, especially after having seen it much earlier and then waiting and finding the exact moment where the stars align and you can justify the expense. But the title of you post seems a bit erroneous since you sort of traded on bike for another. Therefore you are even and must now seek out another N+1. My wife loves this kind of bike logic!

Very nice Bike Miss Kenton, Congratulations to you and your Husband on raising your kids so well and thank him for his service. The Air Force will definitely polish those rough edges for him. We're also adjusting to the empty nest and it's so much harder for my wife than me thankfully our youngest son is still in town so she still can see him. looking forward to the pics with the basket.

Thank you mht. Yesterday's weather held out long enough for me to get in a 22 mile ride and shop for a basket!

I hosted a going away party for my son where I set up this:

Now every day, I will put a few of those cards in my new basket and ride over to the post office to mail them to him.

Thanks for the input, leob1! I did purchase a Nantucket basket, but not quite the same as your wife's. I can relate to her travel packing mentality.
