And congratulations, also, to the bike. That's quite a load.

May B-day (59 now) 5'4" 190lbs. What I consider my normal ride is 16 mile round trip that is mostly hills. We have lots of wind here so my avg. speed varies a lot depending on wind direction & speed. If it is at my back on the return half of the ride, I tend to average a little higher speeds. my best so far this year has been 14mph with near perfect conditions (yesterday) -- 63* and 5mph east wind. I have experienced 20 to 25mph wind in my face at the end and averaged only 12mph. OH well, that's why I geared the bike for wind and hills instead of speed on flat ground in calm conditions.

okay I will play as this thread is interesting
50
5' 10" 179lbs
down from 203 in January but shy of my goal of 168 by 11 pounds. Weight is slow to come off but there it is
Average speed is such a fickle metric it is difficult to say however it is very easy to say I am average. I have logged some miles and made some climbs however this year
some data is missing but here are my summaries
Miles 2500
Elevation 182000
Time 8 days
Rides 91

good point by the OP. this weekend my wife was happy to have a computer on her new/used bike. she could see she was averaging 10-11 mph and so excited to hit 17.8mph (briefly) on the way back on the downward rail trail. she's 55, petite and not skinny anymore. she now has respect for the Tour racers averaging 30mph over 3 weeks ...

Saturday club ride = 45 miles @ 19.7
Last longer bit = 100k July 4 ride @ 19.0
2 caveats = 1. It's really pretty flat out here. 2. I ride with a bunch of really fast old farts.
