Not to be rude or a typical forum antagonist, but lots of people don't ride for achievement. It's just a lifestyle for me, always has been. That's not to minimize others accomplishments, but it's just something I wouldn't think of for myself. I guess I would be somewhat proud that Im in my mid 50's and healthier than a lot of people my age, and that would be due to lifelong cycling obsession, however.

Everything else is icing on the pie.

Hi nuke_diver, scopinusa here. I play guitar too. Somedays better than others, never really well. Just record old instrumentals on a looper. I'm in Phoenix. I have too many hobbies. Bicycles, music, guitar repair, amateur astronomy, telescope building and a few other mindless things. Let me know your interests in music and/or?

Actually I first started cycling when I stopped smoking cigarettes in my late 20s so you could say that I swapped my previous addiction for the adrenalin drug.

This thread reminds me why I don't visit this particular too much anymore.
I just ride my bike as much as possible...yeah that's my addiction, simple.

Have you had a quiet week like Jens Voigt?

Exactly.
Tomorrow is Bike to Work Day; it got postponed from 2 weeks ago because of the fires here. I always like to cruise by the pit stops and pick up free stuff.

Well it is obvious I am somehow missing the point here...it is not the first time and I'm sure not the last. But hey I'm just an engineer that enjoys cycling and being alive so what do I know. Will stick to the touring and long distance forums for now.

Sounds like So Cal. I used to live in San Diego and worry about friends in the Alpine region that had to evacuate a few years back. And breathing raining ashes isn't something good for you, while riding especially I would imagine.

The ride in was very nice this morning.
I rode through the area where the first fire started and the air still smelled like ashes two weeks later. It's weird because there are bushes that are half green and half burned/dead. I'll try to take pictures on the ride home.

I fire snot rockets at everyone I pass.
In my native country, firing snot rockets is a sign of affection.

Your pace is high, well mine is too
Just watch your line or I’ll wheelsuck you
The word is out, better treat me right
‘Cause I’m the King of Strava tonight
Hammer on, hammer on, hammer on, stay tight
My pedals bust, my Sidis break
I’m too much man for you to take
The pavement cracks when I let it go
I’ve got more strength than a neo-pro
Well, I’ve never had a burger
And I’ve never touched a drop
When I’m goin’ to a restaurant
I only order slop
Because I'm fast, I'm fast, come on
(Fast, fast, really really fast)
You know I'm fast, I'm fast, you know it
(Fast, fast, really really fast)
You know I'm fast, I'm fast, come on you know
(Fast, fast, really really fast)
Don't you call me pudgy, portly or stout
Just now tell me once again who's fast
