Software Upgrade Issues, NOV 2010 In this thread please

Tom Stormcrowe 11-22-10 08:46 PM

Looks the same to me. The font settings are the same as they were before.

FlatSix911 11-22-10 08:48 PM

Same as it ever was ... :thumb:

10 Wheels 11-22-10 08:48 PM

more difficult to read for me.......dark Blue line is Now darker?

Tom Stormcrowe 11-22-10 08:50 PM

Maybe a little darker, better delineation between posts.

BlankCrows 11-22-10 09:09 PM

What Is That On The Forum Bike Logo?

I am not quite sure what that is, but it looks pretty fast regardless. It may be a lizard, salamander or a gecko. Is GEICO an advertiser here?

rm -rf 11-22-10 09:22 PM

The font looks smaller to me too. Maybe it's just a different, thinner font?

There's a big problem with the BF screen width. It doesn't go narrower than about 1200 pixels. A narrower browser width makes it scroll left to right off the edge of the window. It didn't do that before. It re-wraps correctly as the browser width is changed, but stops at about 1200 pixels. It's broken in both Firefox and IE.

The BF width is correct if Firefox is run full screen, but I have 1920x1080 pixels, so I never run Firefox that wide. I normally read posts at approximately ( I'm guessing) 800 pixels. It's much easier to read narrow width paragraphs of text.

Otherwise, the changes look good.

AEO 11-22-10 09:35 PM

something is different and I can't quite put my finger on it.
the text inside threads seems to be the same, but the forum view, probably not.

Forum view issue here too. Sentences scroll off to right side very hard to read. I have to scroll right to complete a sentence then scroll back to the left to read on....Cycle repeats. Is there a "word wrap" button I am missing?

KevinSCo 11-22-10 09:45 PM

Agree. However, text wraps correctly when viewing the 11-15-10 site down notice.

gunner65 11-22-10 09:54 PM

I fixed it with a new membership. Thought I would join tonight to support the efforts and then poof magically the word wrap issue went away.

RacerOne 11-22-10 09:58 PM

I'm getting the word wrap issue as well.

DScott 11-22-10 10:32 PM

Whatever the hell it is, and whatever the hell it means, it's too big, too distracting, and making the forums harder to read. It's like the Peter Principle of web design: keep ****ing with it until it's unusable.

Seriously.

AEO 11-22-10 10:49 PM

when I first saw it, I thought it was a dog rummaging through a pair of garbage bags.

then I realized it was a cone head on a bike.

Tom Stormcrowe 11-22-10 10:55 PM

I just took over this thread for upgrade issue communications, AEO, and all....

List further glitches, etc, here for centralization.

tuxbailey 11-22-10 11:30 PM

Can we tone down the flaming logo?

James1:17 11-23-10 12:04 AM

advanced search is white/invisible and smashed down into advertise on bikeforums.net

AEO 11-23-10 03:48 AM

since there are new icons for how hot a thread is, instead of using fire, why not indicate it with gearing?
on fire = 53x11
slow = 22x34

katcorot 11-23-10 05:36 AM

text scrolls way off page, and is really hard to read.

Machka 11-23-10 05:49 AM

What's with all the odd looking symbols before each thread?

Can someone pick one symbol to use throughout (perhaps a smaller version of the bicycle symbol), rather than several different ones? It's a jumble.

too many icons already, thanks.

cb400bill 11-23-10 06:40 AM

I keep getting logged off and have to resign back in.

+1

more visually cluttered - check
unnecessary redundancy in "read vs. unread threads" - check
drop-down menu at bottom of page still a lengthy process which worked three versions ago - facepalm
"find all threads started by user" - fail
"the following words were too common and not included in your search" - fail

Agreed the flaming icon is rather annoying

rollin 11-23-10 07:14 AM

please tone down the flames.

SingingSabre 11-23-10 07:26 AM

Is there some way to check at a glance which threads we've posted in? Something like the small green arrow in the last bf iteration. If not that, then we need a more robust subscribed threads option.

Nadric 11-23-10 07:36 AM

Just here to repeat what others are saying.

Tone down the flame icon, and posts are scrolling WAY too far to the right. Very annoying to read and navigate.

chasmm 11-23-10 07:42 AM

I'm also getting auto-logged-off now. Perhaps an option to adjust this in the settings would be nice?
