I wouldn't buy a bike with color being the only reason. Sounds like most people here - smart girls and smart boys (oh yes, stupid boys exist too) - weigh multiple factors in deciding on a bike - price, features, appearance (color, shape of frame, etc.) and so on.
If I found a Felt V85 that was my size for a great deal, I'd buy it even though black is my least favorite bike color. I'd just put a ****load of stickers on it. Otherwise if/when I accumulate enough money to burn, I'll get a bike from Volagi, Lynnskey, or other custom bike maker and pay for a custom color option, along with the other stuff I'd want.

I like light bikes. All bikes now-a-day seem to be black or dark in general. My bright yellow bikes sticks out like a sore thumb, and I like it that way. I'm about to buy a bright orange bike as well. Plus, it helps a bit with visibility.
Besides, no one says "That's a great color" on an old bike that's black.
