You botched that quote attempt so badly you should stay away from anything with a blade.

Sorry, one too many zeros there. When I bought my bent in 2008 I paid $1200 for it. Altho it has something over 16,000 miles on it, it is still pretty much like new. I dont ride dirt trails, or ever in the wet. In the 9 years of ownership I upgraded the seat back webbing, and the RD.

I didnt pay for it. As I mentioned earlier in another thread a person named NUTTZO blessed me with a subscription. For free it is interesting to read, and learn what a "real" well equipted cyclist has to wear when out speeding down the road at 35 mph of course.

7 days across NY, they talked me into Pizza Hut for lunch one of the days. Yeah, glad I didn't have bibs on 15 minutes after we left Pizza Hut I'll tell you!

It's strangely not completely off-topic, but haven't you ever watched a woman remove/change her bra while staying completely covered up in her shirt? I think you could replicate that with the bibs and jersey ... though I suspect that taking it off would be much easier ...

I think so too but, like I said previously, that's their JOB. That's what they are supposed to do. Whatever you pay for a subscription probably pays the distribution cost. The revenue to cover the content and production probably has to come from ad sales.

Hyping expensive yet cool products is their only reason for existing. That doesn't mean that they are bad people, it's just reality. Look over all of their cool new stuff. If you like it and you can afford it - fine, buy it. If you don't - don't. Just appreciate the fact that the ad made it possible to publish whatever feel good article happened to appear in the most recent issue.

Ah, good old Rydabent ... all the other old recumbent riding guys think he's cute, Nuttzo buys him gifts, and he needs a trailer to haul his mighty equipment .... and he clings so desperately Bicycle Magazine's one article, eleven years ago, making fun of old guys on 'bents.

Still, every one of his threads attracts a lot of responses. He has some sort of weird 'bent charisma .... and he proves it by posting the same thread and getting the same responses.

When you get so old you can't keep your troll posts straight, it is probably time to hang up your real bike and ride a trike. So you have to respect Rydabent for facing that reality.

Good thread.

I used to get some bike rag in the mail, not sure how. I used to pretend rapt interest with $3K wheelsets, exotic saddles and other random ads and professional "reviews" just to observe my wife's reactions. Perfectly serious enthusiasm over vertical compliance and any other buzzwords I came across. It was pretty entertaining until she caught on.

That's made possible because the bra unhooks. Bibs do not. But there is a simple solution: Full zip jersey.

But it is sad that he gets enjoyment out of this. One's golden years should be filled with so much more.

Not so - think about it. They have to pull an arm through a loop under their shirt, just like your arm would go through the suspender loop. Same process, with or without the unhooking. The only difference is they can pull the bra completely out but your bibs still have to peel down.

Although full zip or otherwise it's easier to take a jersey off. It takes what, all of 3 or 4 seconds? Maybe 10 seconds if you take stuff out of the pockets.

But don't those extra seconds negatively impact your Strava standings?

Seriously...I only wear bibs, even on tour. Had to squat in the woods twice during my last one. Not a big deal, even when wearing a 3/4 zip jersey.

Good point, I guess we can't get away from paying extra for the good stuff, not if we insist on true maximal performance.

I suddenly feel an uncontrollable urge to hop the Acela Express up to NYC to visit the Rapha store. Maybe I will have dinner at Eataly afterwards.

I stick with PI Attack, and Performance Elite shorts. I'll never know how the upper crust lives.

FWIW I bought the pair of Performance Elite shorts I own based on a review in BICYCLING.

Man, gotta do better prep work! Little Caesars at least once a week for lunch, Pizza Hut has nothing on my stomach!

Meh, I don't mind being bare chested in public, although the times I need the bibs down I'm in private anyhow! Much easier to just take the jersey off, even if not full zip.

Lemme know if there is a clearance rack. I don't mind buying nice things off the clearance rack.
