Quoting old man music and complaining about threads are staples on bf. I expect nothing less.
Chinese products had just started to infiltrate competitive cross-country skiing when I got out due to Raynaud's. While accumulating cycling gear, I’ve noticed that Chinese-made equipment tends to dominate the market, with good reason, apart from what elite riders use.

It's a pleasant, sunny afternoon here by the Bay of Fundy. I'm watching the tide ebb, through my lr window, and will soon watch it come in. Done enough work for one day -- prepping Fall term courses, a bit of gardening -- so why not noodle around on BF, a double of CC in hand, and post gratuitous comments where appropriate?

Indeed, that is true; however, utterly pointless threads in which one might quote one's old man music and/or about which one might register complaints are also bread n' butter round here.

Unless you're in a group ride, then they can be kinda irritating.

However, this thread has me worried that I've been duped yet again by Big Bike and its supporting manufacturers, this time into spending too much on cycling apparel. Sleepless nights ahead!

Wait you say the Chinese are involved with manufacturing, how did you find this out? Does anyone else know? You sure they haven't embargoed that information? Could Mikey be deported to China for releasing this info, I mean I truly hope not, that would be such a tragedy and in noooooo way I am being sarcastic at all and noooooobody should ever think that ever.
In terms of them dominating yes and no, a large amount of production is outside of China for bikes for the higher quality stuff it is generally Taiwan but a lot of other stuff is Cambodia, Vietnam and other places. They certainly have the market on fakes and knockoffs pretty well and they do some neat stuff of their own and certainly domestically they dominate bicycles with stuff like the Flying Pigeon and all of those dockless bikeshare things but one might call that more of nuisance than anything else.

Did 42 miles with 2,100’ with a group of experienced cyclists including one college kid (sophomore) riding in a t-shirt and gym shorts. No one cared what he wore, only that he rode with the group in a safe manner, which he did in spades.

Sure it is. But in the cross country skiing discipline and even downhill and snowboarding to a lesser extent, there was resistance. In biking, the trend seems to have been wholly embraced.

Many years ago I did a club event in Floyd Landis (Remember him?) county. There was a Mennonite dude in thick, black jeans and a plaid shirt on the ride. He was also wearing Sidi shoes. Fast dude. Some of the Amish and Mennonite kids out that way will put a hurting’ on you.

The first law of nature is self preservation, if you don’t like the topic change the station.
In other words I’m tired of you guys beating up this OP. I’ve said it a thousand times, If you don’t like the topic move on to another thread that you might like better.
It’s summertime and the heat makes me irritable, don’t make us have to start dinging for harassment.

I might be the only person here to actually address shorts that work while riding writing (!) on this thread.
