Just 3 more dollars!

There have been many threads posted here about SLOOOOOOW Nashbar shipping. Be warned, those who do not pay heed to the words posted on these forums.

It would have cost me only $3 more to upgrade my shipping on my rather sizeable order to 2nd day air. However, for reasons I can no longer explain, I didn't do that.

Enter day 10 of the vigil. I know there was a holiday weekend and all...but 10 days seems like a heckuva wait.

This thread serves no other purpose than to wail and moan about my parts which are making their way ever so slowly to me. And to say, when given the option to chuck a mere $3 more into a $200+ order...just go ahead and pony up.

Ah well...the best things come to those who wait...right?

Don't think that two day air is much better unfortunately. In my experience, yes the shipper gets it going in two days, but it may still take a week for Nashbar to actually begin shipping it.

Everytime I've used 2 day shipping with nashbar I received my order within 2 days, except when I placed an order on thursday and it arrived on monday. Though that is normal for nashbar 2 day shipping orders placed on thursday.

I always use 2nd day air, the web coupons usually pay for that. I agree that if you're going to have a hefty order you should always upgrade your shipping. Nashbar has never given me problems, always speedy.

My slowest shipper in the bike parts genre was allaboutbikes.com. My fastest time from order to delivery has been from netphamacy.nz. I swear it. Nashbar is slower than Amazon, but some of their affiliated merchants are way down the list.

Another cheapskate here waiting for his order to arrive...

Did you at least get a order/shipping confirmation email? Nothing here. Not a sausage. I don't even know if my order went through??? I ordered mine July 1st about 10 minutes before the coupon ran out...How about you?

10 days is really not that bad.

Try ordering something from anywhere on-line and get it delivered to Okinawa, in a timely manner, and in one piece.

I ordered something the last day of the offer (7-1) and I just got my shipping email yesterday.

Then again I just ordered one relatively small item.

Being in Ohio, just 50 miles or so from Nashbar, regular shipping can sometimes take a week or more to get to me, because they send it via York, PA. using a third-party vendor. If I choose 2nd day, I usually get it the next day. If I am in a hurry, I always select 2nd day.

I've ordered once from Nashbar. Immediately after placing the order, I realized one of the tools I ordered was the wrong model #. I emailed them immediately, and got the baffling response back a couple of hours later that they had already shipped and could not change the order. I thought they must have the most efficient operation in the history of mankind. Of course a week and half later when the items still had not arrived, I was really irritated and decided not to order from them again.

Hmmm. My experience is that nashbar has quicker shipping than performancebike. I can order an item from no-name electronics warehouses in California and it will arrive days sooner than anything from perfomance.

Now the poor customer service I received from performancebike this week and the normal slow shipping had me looking at their sister company nashbar. Guess I will need to look elsewhere for future purchases.

I ordered a set of Avid shorty cantilevers, some brake cable hangers, and a set or R-500 brifters. Overall cost just shy of $230.

I did get a confirmation e-mail, which is how I'm tracking the number of days. If I count the time prior to the confirmation e-mail, the "vigil" is actually a wee bit longer.

Still waiting, by the way.

I guess it's almost a fun game, running home each day and eagerly dashing to check the mail...but then again it's starting to be not so fun.

Of course, since I cheaped out on the shipping, I don't get a means to track said order either. Which would be another reason to upgrade the shipping: tracking and delivery confirmation.

Bikes: Lots

I haven't ordered anything from Nashbar recently but the last time I did I was living in Winnipeg (2 years ago) and reading various comments about how slow Nashbar was.

Yeah .... they were slow all right .....

It took them anywhere from 4-5 days for my orders to come from wherever they are located in the US, to clear customs, and arrive at the post office near me.

And that was just regular shipping.

I'll be placing another order soon, and I live about 1000 miles further away from where they are ... I hope they are still as "slow" (haha) as they were back then.

Update: just got off the phone with the nice customer service girl who informed me that my order shipped via US mail on July 5th. So I ordered online on the 1st and it shipped the 5th. Not bad considering the holiday. She also told me that the order confirmation email is automated and does not always work...so maybe if I'm lucky my package will be waiting for me when I get home this afternoon. Canton, OH is not that far from Lexington, KY...

Ok listen carefully, since you missed it the first time. Items shipped via regular shipping are routed using a third party via York, PA. When something 'ships' it means they have given it to the third party vendor, who then gets it to York, PA where it is finally turned over to USPS for delivery.

Also, Nashbar is in Canfield, which is over by Youngstown...not Canton, which is nearer to where I am.

Just my $.02. I ordered on July 1 like some others. Received my order today, July 7. Not too bad four business days. The shipping also shows USPS from nashbar. But I am also ony 42 miles from nashbar.

Sounds about right. Nashbar generally ships by USPS for the ground shipping option. This is definitely the slow option and even worse is you don't get package tracking. $3 for 2-day upgrade is a significant improvement for the small increasd cost.

My extensive experience with either nashbar or performance is that products that are in stock ship within one business day. It is certainly not in either of these companies interest to sit on your order. A mail order company success is largely determined by how quickly it can get the order to you (at least get it out the door).

It's here! The vigil ALMOST extended into two week territory, but now it's here, and all ill feelings are forgotten. (Isn't it amazing how fickle one's mood can be?)

Tomorrow will obviously be a bike tear down and re-build day. I can't wait to try the new equipment, even if I have joined the Dark Side and bought brifters.
