Converting "this" MTB?
New here, just found this great forum.
Well, I want a "comfort" bike, but I got a highend MTB, and a middle class road bikes, both I dont want to ride anymore, lost interest, too old for that, LOL
I saw some people modifying MTB into a Hybrid.
This is the bike I got:
Is this worth the trouble? problem is, I tried to sell my 2 bikes, but would get so little out of it, would be like giving them away, but there are lots of good components on them, so I tought maybe I could make the best out of it?
Thanks for your help!

Slick tires, handlebars with more sweep, Brooks Flyer saddle, rigid fork...
What is your road bike? It might be a better canvas to work on.

Mtb needs tyres- rigid forks, better bars for comfort and it will still be a heavy bike for the road.
The road bike will need new bars, brake levers- possibly complete brakes- and new gear changers.
Having just got a road bike to compliment the MTB's- I would go the road bike route.

I agree with what that other guy said. Your gonna want to hit the dirt again at some point. If you have a older raod bike w/shifters on the down tube it should be no problem to swap the drop bars with MTN type bars. I did it with my Nishiki and was still able to use the original breaks. How old is the road bike?

Well, brought the bike to LBS, changed seat, handles & bar, slick tires, and of course a tune up, all this for less than 100$, Man, what a difference!
It's like going from a tractor to a nice touring car... I am re-discovering the joys of cycling, this is now a very enjoyable ride!
I will keep the road bike as future project... it's a bike from the mid eighties...
14 speeds with shifters on the lower bar, but it's got a nice cr-moly frame, shimano 105 group, i'm sure I can do something with it, rather that sell it for a 100 bucks or so...

Congrats on the conversion. Anything you do to make a bike more enjoyable for you to ride is a thing worth doing. And if you can do it for less than a C-note, that's great!
I bet a set of bar-end shifters and a taller stem would make that road bike a lot more appealing.

I'll post a pic later...
Now I need to think about changing crankset... Is that a big thing?
I found myself always in the 3 top or strongest speeds 90% of the time.
Looks like it's totally inadequate for road/bike path useage...
Now: 42-32-22
Typical Hybrids: 48-38-28 or 48-36-26
How do I tackle that? LBS I guess is my best bet...
This is getting kinda of fun
