No. WD-40 will break down the grease packed into the bearings, decreasing service life and requiring rebuilding, or replacing, much sooner then needed. Pedals with bearings tend to turn slower, but smoother, then cheaper pedals with plastic bushings, which are specced on most X-mart bikes. |
*** Wanted to adjust the nut mentioned in the link I sent ***
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.b...5214fdd555e436 Problem: how do you get these dust caps off without destroying them? They are made of hard plastic, not something soft enough that you can wedge something in there. They are flush enough with the surface, that you cannot grip them with anything to pull them out. I tried the prying method, but the only thing accomplished was removing a few small chunks of the hard plastic. So yeah, I'm sure I can remove the dust cap, but I'm also sure I would destroy it... Has anyone else attempted to do this yet? |

That's what I figured. Asked on the off-chance someone had a less destructive method. Thin prying tool it is... By the way Moxfyre, you spend way too much time here! I was just telling myself that I'm not answering any new threads (and I have all of about 50 posts in a year). More time riding. Less time gabbing. Ha ha. But it is good to get feedback from the "regulars". Lots of great info on this board when you search, too. Catch you later. |

Ha ha. There are worse ways to waste time (I have many of them). How did I become a "senior member" already. I could have sworn I was a "junior member" about a week ago. I smell grade inflation... Never fails to carry me through... |

How irritating. Want another pair Meldex? Already have a spare pair but thanks :) |
What do you expect for 20.00??
You get what you pay for. |

I've got one pair that I swap between my road and mountain bike. Would love a second pair. Too bad you are not in the neighborhood (I'm in NY). I'm sure if you offered them up for sale for $12-15 someone would drop by your house and grab them from you. You'd have only lost about $5-10 and some noob would have a nice pair of clipless pedals. If you really want good Karma, you should give them to a friend who's been wanting to try clipless. Their appreciation would probably be worth more than the $20 you paid. |
Nashbar Sucks!!
I orderded about $150 of stuff last night and coudn't get the coupon codes to work. I immediately cancelled the order. I placed the order around 1:00 am and cancelled about 1:05 am. Today, I woke up at 12:00 am and checked my e-mail. They were unable to cancel my order. It had already been shipped. No way. I am so mad.
|
I've never ordered anything online. Think about it but luckily, Performance, Jenson are within driving distance. Maybe I'd order a hoop to build later, but nothing I want or need right away. I have a buddy that ordered a chain thru Performance and waited 3 months cause they were out of stock. Said it was in stock when he ordered!
|
I have had good success with Nashbar, I have had trouble with Performance with them not shipping the right stuff, when I called she told me they will honor any competitors price, they own nashbar.
|
- something is wrong in your post...
- if a coupon code does not work during the Nashbar on-line ordering process, you can cancel the order quite easily by closing the browser window (abandoning the checkout process)... i have done this several times... - you clicked to order anyway, didn't you? - anyhow, how can Nashbar suck if you can return all the items unused for a full refund? |

Even a noted computer dummy like me can navigate Nashbar's order page, I check coupon codes all the time It gives you the coupon discount (if any) and total before you enter your payment information. |
Fast service

If the coupon should have worked call them and complain. They will probably make it right. If not either keep or return the stuff at your option. Pete |

You likely had an expired code. If you confirmed the order anyway you can't be mad at them for shipping your order fast. That is what most of us hope they will do when we order.

I will be sending the merchandise back if I get it before Saturday. I will be on vacation out of state and the package will be on the front porch for two weeks. I made a mistake. But I find it extremely unlikely that they fill orders at 1:00 in the wee hours of the morning. If the order was placed to customer service, and I immediately responded to the same place, before anybody got to work in the morning, I find it hard to believe that could not cancel the order. I will ship it back. I will get charged shipping there and back, $20. $20 is a cheap price to pay to never order from them again. I will be saving loads of money. I'm done complaining.
|
Wow, that is moronic... How much were you going to save with that coupon, more than $20? Oh wait, you weren't gonna save anything because it was an invalid coupon. Who's fault was that? Yours!
Whos fault is it that the order was processed? Yours! What did you think was gonna happen when you pressed the 'send payment' button? Then you go to sleep for almost 24 hours and when you wake up, they've shipped it? Big surprise. You should be done complaining, in fact you never should have started because you have nothing to complain about aside from your own lack of foresight. And blaming all that on nashbar is really, really lame. If you want the crap that you ordered, you should keep it as a reminder of your own mistake. Or, just send it back and convince yourself that $20 is worth it if you can defer blame to someone else. |
They had the item in stock and started shipping it immediatley. THOSE BASTARDS!!!
|
Actually the immediate shipping sounds good... However, based on past experience with Nashbar, their "It is shipped" type message really means that it should hit the mail stream in about 3 days. Then add on the usual transit time from their warehouse location, and you can get an estimated arrival date.
I like Nashbar, but I would bet that if I were to go to the Post Office and drop an identical package when Nashbar claims they shipped something, the receiver would receive it 2-4 days before they would receive the Nashbar package. |
They once sent my a trainer instead of a park tool wheel truing stand, took 4 months to get sorted out.
Yes they suck and they make crap parts. |
