It's obviously a lie, you would get the same message if you had tried to cancel 1 sec instead of 5 minutes. Thats common practice with companies charging shipping and handling so don't ever buy from them again.

Thats one reason why I don't buy from nashbar s&p is just way too high for my liking, although I did order from them once thru Amazon since I got the free s&p and free return policy of amazon, now I get a catalog from nashbar, perfomance every month. I had prompt service and no complaints but the s&p charge makes it a no no for me since it'll just be way too expensive if I ever needed to return something.

Thumbs up for Nashbar free shipping!

I have seen a number of posts criticizing Nasbar's free shipping and how slow it can be. I purchased a new Cateye Computer late Thursday night. It was in my mailbox on Saturday morning. Great job Nashbar!

Granted I live only 60 miles SE of the warehouse but it was a very good job of free shipping none the less.

My wife ordered some xmas stuff from Performance on 12-4-06. It still isn't here.

- ha! i get a kick out of watching package progress for my goodies... stuff leaves the Carolinas, then has to go up to West Va., then back down... 10 business days or more for regular shipping for me...

:-(

That does not sound like the fault of Nashbar but of the carrier.

If they are like Performance it is the fault of both. Performance is shipping there crap Parcel Post.

Still not he fault of Performance. It is free so they are shipping the cheapest way. If the shipping process is inefficient, it is not their fault. Now if this crazy routing somehow lowers the cost of Parcel Post then you need to be in a more direct route (as I suspect I am) or pay for the upgraded shipping.

ive had 10+ orders each from nashbar and performance. performance is consistently slower.

i dont care whose fault it is, but i know which vendor id be more likely to purchase from in the future....

I sent an overnight package from Denver to Portland, Or. And watched them take it to OHIO before taking it to Portland.

It DID get there the next day, though. I was actually pretty surprised.

Lurker1999 12-18-06 12:42 AM

Performance orders ship slower and take longer than Nashbar orders do so I usually buy from Nashbar.

I should mention that Nashbar's system screwed up their most recent free shipping promotion. I was actually billed for the shipping while my invoice reflects the shipping discount. I've already emailed their customer service.

Lurker1999 12-18-06 12:44 AM

Warning about latest Nashbar free shipping promo

Check your credit card statements for Nashbar transactions placed under their most recent free shipping promotion. While my order was placed without any fancy footwork, well within the time frame of their promotion I was just charged for shipping. This happened despite my invoice email reflecting the free shipping.

dur4ce 12-18-06 12:57 AM

Thanks so much for the heads up!

I was mischarged as well. I sent off an e-mail to get it corrected. Let me know how your's turns out.

gotta give performance a thumbs up for my latest order. Placed the order Thursday, mid-day. Had the package on Saturday.

doesn't get much better than that for free shipping.

toodman 12-18-06 11:52 AM

+1

I SWEAR this is my last order from these incapable idiots.

toodman 12-18-06 11:55 AM

Thumbs down. Contrary to what the email receipt from Nashbar's customer service said, my credit card statement shows I WAS charged for shipping. Check yours.

HardyWeinberg 12-18-06 01:19 PM

I've taken to googling part #s, can pretty consistently find stuff cheaper, even paying for shipping, than from nash/perf, and it *always* ships quicker (faster out of the warehouse I mean, though faster to me of course as well). So far none of the various fly-by-night outfits I've patronized have stiffed me or sold me out to spammers (knock on wood). Latest example, $36 for 2 chains (in 2 days) from some place in WI vs $43 for the same 2, in ~2 wks if past performance predicts present results.

crypticlineage 12-18-06 03:28 PM

Yeah Performance and Nashbar loci are consistently out of Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium.

That's just because they violate one or more of the assumptions such as selection pressure.

Lurker1999 12-28-06 03:00 AM

Has anyone received a credit on their card for the mischarge yet? I resent an email to Nashbar and plan to dispute the charge if my statement period closes without a credit being issued.

Trocadile 12-28-06 08:20 AM

The charge for shipping happened to me on two different orders during two different free shipping periods. It's apparantly a blind spot in their billing system. I sent emails in each case, and both times I was promptly reimbursed. This has been the only problem I've had with Nashbar over an embarrassingly large number of orders.

deputyjones 12-28-06 03:15 PM

I had similar issue with gift certificate ordering via the internet. They make you put the gift cert. info in the "Comments" box so it has to be manually entered and obviously was not. Still waiting for a refund almost a week later.

flyingscotsman 12-28-06 03:23 PM

Thats sucks

redfooj 12-28-06 04:26 PM

performance not much better. i ordered something during their free shipping round, waitied 15 days for the item to arrive. when i called (literally 5 minutes ago) to inquire about it, they said the order was absolutely not found on their system (despite me receiving email confirmation, and a credit card pending status)

SemperFi 12-28-06 06:05 PM

Bah humbug!

Shortrider06 12-28-06 06:36 PM

I like nashbar but i get free shipping from PerformanceBike. Its only 5 miles away.
