I guess I'll never really know. The credit card I used was one that Ford puts award monies into. I never see a statement. But, the balance is correct for what I ordered and free shipping was deducted on the invoice. Based on that, I'm assuming it was charged correctly.

Same sh*t.

Another Nashbar "X" frame question...
I'm mulling over the Nashbar "X" cyclo-cross frame. I'm a bit puzzled by the sizing, and I wonder if any of you "X" riders have any thoughts
A 50cm frame, insofar as standover is concerned, is usually just a tiny little touch too tall. However, I noticed that in the pictures the seat tube extends above the top tube by what appears to be at least 3cm...just by eyballing off the tubes. If so, that would put the standover at a height comparable to a 48cm bike elsewhere. So far so good. Not knowing what size is depicted in the drawing, I'm trying to figure out how much that top tube slopes. I.e. will the sloping top tube with a 50cm size and "tight" standover place the handlebars too high? I don't want to drop down to the extra small 46cm size, because the cockpit measurements are rather cramped. I like my handlebars level with the saddle. Essentially: Really sloping top tube...does that equal too high handlbars in a "normal" standover? And does the 50cm have a little extra clearance with that longer extension? Who builds Nashbar's frames anyway? I figure they're OEM for someone, but when I inquired at Nashbar a while back they said that there were confidentiality agreements that prevented disclosure of that info. Interesting. Thoughts on this frame are appreciated. |
standover for the 50 cm is listed at 74.5 cm.
http://www.nashbar.com/moreinfo.cfm?sku=15767 i've got a large, and there's a solid 2 inches between the top of the seat tube and center of the top tube. i rather like mine, fwiw. |
You might want to post this in the cyclocross forum...last time I checked, they really enjoy getting technical.
|
jhota,
Yeah...that measurement for standover works out nicely for a frame in my "usual" size. Often with "compact geometry" frames you actually choose a frame with a bit more than usual standover clearance to achieve the appropriate effective top tube. The X frame is an odd duck in a way. The 50cm size appears to have both the standover and ett spacing that I like...on a more horizontal top tube frame...so I wonder if the sloping top tube does anything funny to the fit given those factors. I hope that makes sense. |

Hopefully this pays off... |
Any experience with Nashbar's brand computers?
I was thinking about getting a Nashbar branded computer. Anyone have any experience with these?
LINK $13 sure beats $30 (for a cateye) in my book |
Go for it - a bike computer is about as complicated as a pocket calculator. No reason a generic one shouldn't work well.
|
i got a disney one for $5. i'm actually ordering another for myself and one for a friend.
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=276552 the double mounting kit with the nashbar one seems nice. not sure if the button placement is ideal, though. |
Weird thing about Nashbar order
Ok, so I took advantage of Nashbar's free shipping code last weekend and placed a few orders. One of the orders I was charged x amount of dollars. Per what I read on another forum, I checked my credit card statement, and it turns out that they incorrectly charged me shipping fees even though my order info didn't reflect that extra cost. I called them earlier and they said they'd take care of it.
On other news, with my order they packaged a pamphlet about "how to double your energy levels guaranteed". What does this pamphlet talk about? Well, it's a 12 page advertisement for a colon cleansing product... |
Wow! Maybe it's a product that goes on the seat or in the seatpost. I've haven't ordered from Nashbar yet but everything I've read on the forums has been good. I bet they treat ya right. Does the colon cleansing come with their bike or will it work with a Cannondale also?
|
Reference Eddie Murphy's The Nutty Professor.
|
Haha - no I'm totally serious! It starts off talking about medical information and stuff and then it talks about intenstinal toxin buildup and then it advertises a colon cleanser product that costs $100 or so and then $70 or so for additional 2 month "treatments".
But anyways, I wanted to mention about the free shipping coupon code shipping charge - check your statements, people! I placed two orders with them using the free shipping coupon and only one of them came up mischarged. They didn't respond to my email but when I called they said they'd take care of it. |
Nashbar jackets... do they run small (compared to other brands)?
Just wondering if someone knows. I just purchased a Nashbar 'Endurance' Jacket (link) and while it's a very nice jacket for the price (paid $34), it's very small, especially the arms.
I usually wear medium sized stuff, but when bending over the handlebars, the sleeves pull up on my forearms.. Anyway, i figure i need to order a different jacket, but didn't want to end up buying, say, a 'large' Pear Izumi and getting something huge.. Anyone have both nashbar and other branded jackets? Do they tend to be sized the same? thanks, r |
Yes
I have a nashbar branded jacket also that is way short inthe sleeves. |
Nashbar checkout question
Hey guys,
Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but here goes anyway. Just got an e-mail from Nashbar that includes a really good deal on some shorts so I decided to buy a pair. Go to place the order then I noticed they added tax to the order. Now for my question, I thought that any order that is shipped out of state does not get taxed, am I wrong? Also they taxed the shipping cost as well. I thought that tax only applied to actual items and not the shipping as well, at least in PA I thought that was the case. Anybody know if I am just totally wrong here? Thanks, Mike |
If they have a presence in your state, they will tax you. Are there any Nashbar stores or facilities in PA? (Not sure if they have any free-standing stores anywhere).
email their customer service for an explanation |
Nashbar is owned by Performance so if there are any Nashbar or Performance retail stores in your state, you will be charged sales tax.
|
Ah, good to know. Wish i'd know before i bought the jacket though! :p
Oh well, buying clothing online is always a crapshoot. |
I'm in Michigan. I know they are cracking down, trying to collect sales tax on out of state mail order. It's pretty hit or miss at this point. In any event, I don't think the shipping should get taxed (tho I'm not positive on this).

Nashbar is owned by Performance, so if Performance has a presence in PA, that might be it. Also, I believe they ship out of York, PA, which may be another possible reason.
