My modest bike . . . .
A 2001 Trek 800 sport, with a new stem(125 mm, i don't know the rise) new Acera 7 speed shifters, new serfas grips, a bottle cage, new chain, nashbar clipless pedals and a cateye enduro 8 cyclocomputer. I tweak the hell out of it, too. I just love it. I'm glad my mom purchased it for me 3 years back. |

I ride a Univega Modo Vincere 2001. -Matt- I ride a 2004 Trek 2200. Flies down the street and up hills. Great geometry for me. If it is good enough for Lance it is good enough for me. |

I ride a Univega Modo Vincere 2001. -Matt- Road bike is a GT Course (Reynolds 853 tubing, Ultegra everything, Atlanta 1996 wheels). Mountain bike happens to be a GT Aggressor, now equipped with slicks for the summer commute. Nothing that special but they keep me happy. ~ |

This is not my ride - it is my son's. When we
were going to see them, he was not really sure he wanted one. At first sight all he could say was "Man I want it - it's cool". |

Wow, there are so many nice bikes here.
This is my humble nice weather commuter/light-tourer/main ride. I found the stock bike at an antique store, and mildly upgraded/hybridized it... mostly with parts I already had lying around. It'll be my ride at Bike NY this year. '86 Nishiki Sport Araya 27" wheels Maillard quick release hubs and freewheel Sugino VP crank set Dia Compe brakes Suntour SVX derailleurs Vetta saddle Titec Enduro flat-bar Profile long bar ends Tektro brake levers 2 water bottle cages 1 air-pump bracket 1 Rhode Gear parking-brake-wheel-lock-stand-thingamajig (partially covering the Nishiki decal) that lets me safely lean the bike up against things. The frame has mixed cro-mo lugged steel tubing, and all of the components are aluminum. It does have a few scratches and other blemishes, but everything works smoothly and rattle-free. |

I'll post pictures of it on the fixie forum when I can. It's damned ugly.

A couple of years ago, I bought a new old stock Aquila (not the Gary Fisher--apparently an Italian company, according to my LBS) lugged steel frame with 16 speed, downtube shifters (mostly Suntour) and an old Cannondale M200 hardtail (and front, for that matter). I bought the Cannondale when I first started riding ten years ago, because it was relatively cheap; the Aquila just looked really cool. And the ride is amazing.
I'm going to have to upgrade the components at some point and see if I can fit a triple on it, but for now the whole non-indexed-shifting thing makes rides more interesting. |

Fuji Finest for me. Got some new tires on it though, blue to match the color of the bike (slightly different shade). I got it for $400 brand new instead of $650 and it's served me well so far, a pleasure to ride.

2004 Diamondback outlook (Silver/Black 18")
with a few upgrades: Mens' Serfas RX saddle Wellgo lightweight alloy pedals + half clips Serfas Drifter Tires + anti-puncture liner Avenir cushion grips (twist shifter length) Avenir heavy duty bike rack + panniers Cateye Opticube LED light Cateye red LED taillight Schwinn cyclocomputer (target, probably the best $15 computer I've seen) Kryptonite locking skewer set It may not be the lightest setup in the world, but it's fine for all my uses. I might go to a threadless fork with a bit more travel, and possibly add many different types of security bolts to the threadless stem that I would buy...just to make a thief's life all that much harder. |
